Great little coffee shop, breakfast and lunch place tucked away down the end of the main street across from seafood market and the water. Coffee is smooth, a generous menu for sandwiches and deliciously made. It's a cheap and easy way to find lunch if your trying to avoid yet another expensive sit-down meal on your vacation, or you can't look another lobster roll or fish for the rest of the year. There's also a selection of candy, snacks and other fun kid items in-stock. Seating is somewhat limited but take it to go and go across the road to the water and sit on a bench and enjoy another beautiful main view. Park across the road for easy parking as the main street parking is a pain.

This is such a welcoming place. It couldn't be any cuter. A country candy store/deli/ coffee shop. It is a win win for almost anyone! The sandwiches are delicious and very reasonably priced. Staff are friendly, offering great service. I will definitely go again!♡

Eat these sandwiches. The Reuben with the Philippine sauce was amazing. As was the egg sandwich. And the coffee. Open from 11-2 these days and worth going. Also you can eat at the picnic tables in the parking lot across the street and your view is great!

Very cute country store feel with lots of candy and goodies. Haven't tried the sandwiches but the soups I've had so far have amazing flavor. Well worth the price and it's a good size.

They love Moxie almost as much as I do. It's a cute little store, and well worth a visit. The t-shirts only went to medium. 2X would have sold two in each style. Nice place, though.

Simply the best darn place. Small family owned deli restaurant. It has a feeling of nostalgia. The people are so friendly that wait on you The food is sublime. It is my top place to go when coming into this wonderful, charming village. It is one of the Staples of Damariscotta that makes that area so special.

This is the best sandwich shop in town! I love coming here with my friends for a late lunch. A nice From Away always hits the spot. Their candy selection is fabulous and everything is reasonably priced. The service is great and all of the waiters and waitresses are so kind and welcoming. I love the decor and every time I walk in the door I feel welcome. Love this place!

Awesome sandwiches! Really fast and very nice staff. Can be difficult to park in the summer (street parking). Wide selection of food and drinks. They also have a pretty big candy selection and ice cream. It has an old timey decor without feeling fake or like they're trying too hard.

My wife and I love good sandwiches, and for that reason we are regulars here. We are almost all the way through their Eat the Menu challenge, and it has been fun trying their huge variety of interesting specialty sandwiches. Our favorites are the Reuben Atchara, Veggie Reuben, BLT, and Apple Barrel. The staff always provides service with a smile, even when they are swamped (which they frequently are during lunch in the summer). It's also a fun place to go to find retro toys, candy, etc. I can't recommend this place highly enough.

My favorite lunch and breakfast spot in Maine and many other states too. Sandwiches are renowned. Bigelow breakfast sandwich is not to be missed. Added bonuses are penny candy and ice cream for the sweet tooth and good coffee and... that it's run by the nicest people!

This is the perfect small town sandwich shop. It is fun, ecclectic and the sandwiches offer that touch of extra flare, even the names are fun, regular Joe, Avenging Samurai, Dragon lady and From Away to name a fun few. Names aside, you'll find they are well mixed favorites with a lot of local fare. They use a lot of local favorites like Morse's saurkraut as well as fine meats from the butcher across the street, Riverside Butcher Co.If you are expecting a true country store, I'm not sure this will meet your expectations as you cannot buy daily needs like milk and butter, etc or matches and bug spray, but a large selection of packaged and bulk candies as well as local Round Top ice cream is in abundance. This little gem is worth a visit.

We got sandwiches here to bring to the beach. I had the vegetarian sandwich, Skidomopha. It was very good. My sister had the Italian as is and loved it. My niece had the chicken salad wrap and really enjoyed it. Fernald' is definetly worth a stop!!! All sandwiches come with a dill pickle.

This is a must to stop at if you're in the area. The shop feels like something from the sixties and the sandwiches are out of this world. My favorite sandwich is Some Like It Hot and would tell anyone it's my best sandwich all of Damariscotta.

Great old time country store. We got half sandwiches which were bigger than most whole sandwiches. Huge menu, a great Maine feel. And it is Moxie central! Lots of fun

Sumner Fernald and his family know how to make a unique sandwich, and exactly how hash browns should feel and taste. The store is fill.of fun retro toys and stuff. If only they valued coffee!

Walked in about 15 minutes before they closed because they actually close at 5pm not 6pm as mentioned on google (false advertising). We were welcome to purchase candy and some left over desserts which we were totally cool with. However, here is where my one star comes from... another customer walked in shorty afterwards and placed an order for food, the staff obliged. Ran by lazy and apathetic staff. Who knows, maybe it was because I was carrying my 3lbs service dog and they wanted us out, albeit, we should all be treated equally.

Their espresso brownie had a nice robust coffee flavor and it was great value for the money. I like the classic design of their shop, both outside and inside.

Roast beef sandwich was outstanding with perfect condiments. Bread was fresh, and portion size was huge! Grilled cheese on excellent bread was memorable.

Great, cozy atmosphere. Couch seating makes me feel like I'm home. I had their eggs Bigelow 3 times in a week. Also the rotating speciality coffee selection is superb

The sandwiches are amazingly delicious and so healthy. There is so much variety of food and candy to buy. You can also buy a lot of vintage posters. ♡
