What an amazing public access resource to this beautiful landscape. One of my favorite hikes I have done in Maine. I did an out and back to the coastline and really enjoyed it. I would recommend to anyone. I saw some people with dogs. There is a longer trail and first come first serve overnight camping spots out on the longer trail. These pictures really don't capture how dramatic the coastline is here.

This little hole in the wall is one of my absolute favorite places to go backpacking. The first time I came up here a severe thunderstorm was rolling in so my visit was cut short. Despite the impending doom and gloom this place was so beautiful I made the seven hour drive back up a few weeks later. Ever since then I've been returning once or twice a year.If you're a new backpacker this hike is easy to split up into one or two nights stay. I usually do two even though I could do the whole trail in one day. It's worth staying multiple nights to just hang out and soak in the beauty of the surrounding forest, the ocean, and the quiet away from everything. If you're an experienced backpacker, same thing! Easy trip with absolutely breathtaking views. You can't go wrong with this trail.Depending on the time of the year, expect mud, overgrowth in some areas of the trail, lots of mosquitoes, gnats, and black flies. Bears are occasionally in the area so secure your food properly. If there are no bears, there's a lot of bouncing mice at Black Point and you don't want them in your food either.Highly recommend bringing trekking poles if you're there for a day hike or backpacking -- especially for the backpackers. Some spots along the coast can be tricky due to be steep, loose, and/or rocky.Restrooms: There are open air moldering privy's at each campsite. This means there is no privacy. However, due to misuse, the one at Black Point is usually full of garbage. You'll need to bring your own toilet paper. At the parking lot there is a covered outhouse. You'll also need your own toilet paper here.Dog-friendliness: Dogs are welcome on leash.

Cutler Cost is absolutely beautiful and amazing. It's simply breathtaking. It's a moderate to difficult trail. 10/10 recommend to anyone to either day hike or backpack here. Note: all campsites hold up to 6 campers you cannot hog a site to yourself if there's other people coming In and you fit 6 people.

We hiked the 2.8 mile trail from the parking lot out to the Scenic Overlook and back. It was a great trail, not too steep, but lots of rocks and tree roots to climb over. Some of the time we had to do a little side-stepping to avoid mud and there were a number of areas where we had to cross bogs on logs laid across. Even though there was quite a bit of fog, the view of what we could see of the cliffs along the coast was fantastic! We enjoyed climbing around on the rocky cliffs and got some great photos. We look forward to returning and hiking the coastal trail.

I absolutely love it here. I did not do the whole trail, 10 miles but what I did has made me want to return. There are a few sites you can overnight on if you get there early enough to claim. The trail is well marked and when I was there it was dry. It was an amazing experience to see. I will return often as I never felt so calm and free. You will see why...

A must do hike! I didn’t have time to do the long loop but it was still gorgeous, even in the rain. It really feels like you’re in the Pacific North West. One of the best trails in Maine, hands down!

This place is absolutely amazing. Words really can't describe it. Hiked in and watched the sunrise over Grand Manan Island. took the coastal trail down and then the inland route back. Full length video will be available on my YouTube channel Diary of a Maine Man.

Honestly the views were almost as good as Acadia with less than half the people. Beautiful coastal hike and camp

What a lovely walk along the coast. Amazing views. Some scrambles but doable. Great job trail crew! Looks like there was a lot of blowdowns so thank you!

For me this is the best place to visit in the New England states if you love coastal cliffs and nature. This is my second time here and I will definitely be back more times. I also backpacked into the woods and set up tent along the cliffs and spent the night.

One of the most beautiful places I've hiked. Be warned, the trails are overgrown. Not a little or a few sections, I would estimate 60% had hip high growth blocking your view of the single track trail. We hiked the inland trail, down to fairy head, and back to the parking lot along the coast trail. About 9.5 miles total. This isn't a tough hike in terms of elevation. It is typical Northern New England with roots and rocks everywhere. We visited first week of August and the inland trail was flooded, about shin deep, right before you would turn to the cutoff.Blueberries everywhere, we gorged ourselves.Swam at the beach full of smooth river rock with a staircase leading down - Long Point Cove is the official name. Brought a snorkel and could see the massive drop off heading out into the Bay of Fundy. The water was 51* if you don't have cold water experience, and cant swim very proficiently don't jump in!!!All in all a good hike with a lot of bushwacking and incredible views of Maine, Grand Manan Island and the Bay of Fundy

Great trails, but some of the most extreme coastal trails yo will find in Maine... Bring a friend and only the most well behaved children and pets...

Amazing place to visit and stay for a couple of nights in tent. The only thing I hate - people who leave trash along the trails and camps... collected 2 pounds of garbage along the coast trail.

This 10 mile loop is absolutely gorgeous! Granted, the first 6 that I completed were in the dark due to a late start, but shortly before seeking down for the night I found myself 5 feet from a porcupine; a very new experience for me! In the daylight the beauty was only enhanced, with many overlooks at the top of sheer cliffs and looking onto the ocean and rocks below. Will definitely be going again!

Great, but challenging, hike! We hiked the inland trail too fairy Head where we stayed the night at FH-3 tent site. This spot is nice and flat and quite spacious. We fit two tents but could likely fit 1-2 more smallish ones. The hike to the spot was so vividly green and felt like we were in LOTR or something. Only a couple of times did we have to double check we were going the right way. Keep an eye out for blazes and rock pile markers. The hike back to the parking lot took us along the coastal route and we got to see the other Fairy Head tent sites, the long point site (looked really nice too!), as well as the black point site (roomy and looked nice). The coastal trail was a bit more technical than inland trail, and definitely should be sure of your footing in places. Keep an eye out for markers here too, especially right after black point, before crossing the stream.Bugs weren't bad most of the first day inland, they came out Saturday night, but then were fairly non-existent the rest of the time. Muddy in places and a few spots where the brush has grown into the trail, so look out for roots/rocks that might trip you up.Overall, a good time, but definitely happy to be home resting my poor feet. 😂

Easy/moderate trail to the coast line. 2 hour round trip on the trail. Maine coastline at its best.

Stunning views after 1-2 miles of easy to moderate hike. A fairly remote hiking area with about 6 backbacking sites along coastal cliffs that require 2 to 5 mile moderate to difficult hikes. Muddy in spring, bugs in summer, often windy on coastal trail. Inland hike proceeds through several marshy areas with most being traversed by boardwalks. No fires, potable water, or services nearby.

The hike to the cliffs is amazing!! I wish I could have spent several hours at the cliffs. Leave early in morning or bring lights and stay for sunset.
