Following up on the earlier review, the GM of the Inn reached out to us right away and offered to make things right after reading about our problems with the room, which was much appreciated. While they did stumble a little on the room maintenance, the Inn is in a beautiful setting, the restaurant had fantastic food and service was friendly and professional across the board.

Recently returned from a 1 night stay at Chebeague Island Inn.Truly enjoyed the food, the outdoor views and the staff was friendly, however...room 301 had issues. For over $600 (with dinner) for a 1 night stay, the following things should not have been an issue:1.) The hair dryer didn't work. The wife not happy on this one.2.) The drain to the tub didn't drain efficiently, so we were standing in several inches of slowly draining water when done showering.3.) There was no drain plug for the sink. No extra cost for the previous guest's toothpaste cap that had drained down into the sink's plumbing.4.) The dust was so thick on the blades of the ceiling fan, that there was visible build up that made it look more like a used swiffer picker upper. For the kind of money paid, room improvements need to be made.

I’m sorry to have to write a negative review. I’ve been staying overnight at the Inn for the past five years or so and have always had a lovely time. This time however I was double charged for the room, after paying ahead of time through a third party site. Although the manager ultimately refunded the money and comped me my restaurant bill (about $50) the whole experience was distressing and poorly managed. I initially noticed the pending charge before I even checked out. I asked for an invoice and told them I wanted to make sure I wasn’t double charged. I was emailed an invoice full of zeros. I went back to the front desk and they said they would email me a corrected one which I never received. I then forgot about it and just happened to notice the additional charge a couple weeks later on my credit card bill. I spent about two hours on the phone with the Inn and various credit card companies. I was treated at best brusquely and at worst quite rudely by the front desk when I called a second time to try to resolve the issue. In the meantime I was charged a third time (for a mysterious $102), which was also ultimately refunded. The responses I got were inconsistent and concerning (the front desk told me they had no way to confirm if payment had been received from the third party- Chase Travel. When I called Chase Travel, they talked to the Inn, who told them they had received payment and that the $310 on my credit card was for service charges). I could go on. I don’t know if this was a one-time error or if other customers are being double charged. The Inn could have kept my high regard by treating me with exceptional customer service and integrity for the large error they made and the amount of time it took me to resolve it.

I went for 4th of July with my son. The 15 minute ferry ride from Yarmouth (Cousins island) was worth the addition driving time from Portland as it was a rainy day and we didn't want to spend 1.5 hrs on the ferry from Portland. The Chebeague Island Inn shuttle was waiting for us for the very short drive up the hill. Relaxing on the porch with a glass of wine was so relaxing with the beautiful view of the Bay.The food was 5+ stars and so was the service. The room(s) were understated elegance with trully comfortable beds. The only thing future guests should know about the rooms is no AC, but with ceiling fans was fine sleeping. Also, the rooms appear to be set up for couples, so for my son & I traveling together, they offered an adjoining room at a reduced cost. It was perfect for us, so for couples traveling with children, ask for the adjoining room. This is a ' must do' experience for anyone traveling to Maine (or even those who live there) if you're looking for a memorable way to celebrate a special occasion.

Restaurant review only:- Very limited menu- good salads and dessert- pleasant wait staff- main dishes totally underwhelming, except for the french fries. The fish sandwich was most probably not fresh caught locally, but a fishcake that tasted frozen and over seasoned and undercooked. The burger was very soggy, but tasty. Thanks for the champagne as it was to be an anniversary special.I don't forsee the need to visit here again as there was also no shuttle to the inn from the ferry for older and handicapped patrons.Total cost: over $100 dinner for 2Walkability: Uphill half mile walk from the ferry

I am reviewing the customer service of this inn. I went for lunch and left my wallet on the table, not realizing my mistake until I was off the island on the bus heading back to our car. I called the inn and they were able to not only locate the wallet and keep it safe-- but offered to mail it to my home address. It arrived today and nothing was missing from my wallet! Lunch was incredible as well, will definitely be returning to say thank you in person and have another cocktail and chicken salad sandwich on the porch! Thank you Chebeague Island Inn staff!

We biked to this in and were impressed with the grounds and beautiful view out over the water. The large porch is perfect for outdoor dining. I ordered the Caesar salad with lobster and it was quite good and ample. The hubs ordered the fried fish sandwich. He compared it to a crab cake, round and pieced together with a somewhat heavy fried taste. He liked it! A nice, relaxing place with very good service.

Visiting our friends in S. Portland, Me. We took the local ferry, fifteen minute ride to Chebeague Island. Easy ride up to the Chebeague Inn on the hill. from the shuttle of the Inn. They knew we were arriving from the ferry due to our lunch reservation. Fabulous. Convenient. Quaint old style inn. Menu was terrific. My wife and I had fish sandwich with fries. Large piece of fish in the sandwich. I also had a local beer Allagash White--yummy. The ambiance and views from eating on the porch. I was impressed that our waiter Mate was professional. expedient, courteous , and friendly. There was a large company group luncheon on the lawn below us ( Spectrum): yet great service. Highly recommend this restaurant.

We stayed here for our niece's wedding and we absolutely loved it! This is a very quaint, simple inn with a wonderful, archaic ambience. Rooms are small, and there are no TVs. Wi-Fi was good though so we could use our tablet. We had an ocean view room with a private bathroom and it was quite comfortable. We did have breakfast and dinner at the restaurant. The food was really good, but a bit pricey. Rooms are also pricey but you're paying for the stunning location. They have a wonderful little coffee & tea bar in the morning for guests. Staff is outstanding! They did a wonderful job of shuttling us to the ferry and other places we needed to go. Very helpful & courteous. They do not offer everyday maid service, so if you need your room serviced you need to request that. They made the 3 day wedding celebration an unbelievable and memorable experience!

Mixed feelings on this one. I stayed there for my brother’s wedding, which took place at the inn in mid-October. The public spaces of the inn have a lodge-like feel. However, the inn is the only hotel/inn/large group place with amenities to stay on Chebeague Island (or at least it was when I was there). That means that the inn can somewhat dictate room prices as they basically have a monopoly. The rooms were very simple for the price. (And there weren’t enough rooms for everyone at the wedding to stay over.) Some rooms shared bathrooms and the rooms were generally not spacious, nor were they modern. However, they were quaint and clean. While the rooms where overpriced, the staff was very accommodating and the location was beautiful. The public and shared areas of the inn were very comfortable. The staff and the general way they handle a wedding, helped make my brother’s a memorable special event. So, 3 stars for the rooms, 5 stars for the staff and general experience of staying there for a New England wedding.

Short motor from Portland. Grab one of the yellow guest moorings #41-45 - there's a launch We went for lunch but ended up at Sunday brunch. Limited choices on the menu. I ended up with a Caesar salad - fair. It's the atmosphere & location that's the draw so there's that. Call for the launch & shuttle van to get you to the inn.

If I could give 0 stars, I would! We originally made reservations and she could not get a hold of anyone, because the message machine and contact info did not say that it was off-season. No one would call or email her back. My mother has tried multiple times to contact this hotel over email and phone for several weeks with no answer. When she finally got ahold of someone, she could not get a clear answer on why she did not hear back. This person did not care and was like whatever, I am calling you now. This is highly unprofessional and is no way to run a business. Even in the off-season, inquiries need to be attended to. I do not know who you have running the reservations, but they need work in customer service and how to treat customers. It takes two seconds to call back and say yes, we received your confirmation or cancellation. She canceled and did not receive a confirmation email that it was canceled. She was worried that she would be charged if you were not aware of the cancellation.

It was a nice getaway from Portland. No city life on here was just perfect. The restaurant was spectacular. The chef was doing everything perfectly. There was a little lawn that was fun to lie down in and some corn hole toss to pass the time. There was a magnificent sunset over the water. Overall, it was just one of the best experiences of the summer.

My wife and I had a delightful, relaxing 5 night stay. The Inn is charming, with excellent service, a tasty menu and a glorious wrap around porch that overlooks beautiful sunsets over Casco Bay. The Inn has bicycles to get around the island and a fun looking 9 hole golf course. The island offers an old-fashioned, laid back Maine atmosphere with little to do but explore the beaches and get away from daily stress. The Inn did receive some poor reviews, but having stayed at the Inn, I think that these reflect missed expectations. The bedrooms are small, clean, and cosy. If you are looking for air conditioning, television, phones, "microwaves for leftovers" or "minibars for alcohol", you will be disappointed. If, on the other hand, you enjoy falling asleep to the sound of crickets and owls, you will have found your spot!

Don't trust that a shuttle will be at the dock when you arrive, as advertised. It was quite the chore hauling our luggage after a 10 hour trip to a new adventure in the dark up that hill. Also, I could imagine the bikes provided were once very nice, I suggest bringing your own if you plan to get around the island. I do hope they get the yellowed furniture out of the rooms, and hire a handy person to properly fix the doors. You need a healthy heft to get the doors to actually shut due to settling. Waiting for the announcement of a remodel before we ever visit again.

Definitely not our cup of tea. Room was warm and uncomfortable (no a/c). No fridge for all our alcohol and no microwave for our leftovers. Pretty noisy while we were in our room and it just seemed very disorganized and unwelcoming since we stepped into the inn (except our waitress for dinner). Very overpriced for what it was. My partner set it up for our anniversary and he was not pleased.

We hosted our micro wedding here and it was seriously unforgettable. The staff are attentive and super friendly, the food is delicious, the location is gorgeous, and Caitlyn is an AMAZING coordinator. Our guests loved their stay, and we highly recommend visiting and/or hosting events here! We cannot thank the Inn staff enough for helping create such a wonderful wedding.

A+++!!! Yes I agree w previous reviews on making ample time to get to the bus parking lot ($15 to park) and the ferry (15$/pp) over to the Inn. We sat down (immediately upon our arrival) at the restaurant and our server Arun was amazing!!! Super nice and knowledgeable! Friendly! Check in was easy. We were told there is coffee in the morning and bikes to use on a first come basis. I plan to golf next door in the morning. My wife and I just did one night. Obviously we wish we did a few more. But our stay was A+++!!!!! Highly recommend this Inn

This was our 6th time visiting chebeague island inn and unfortunately the experience was very different from our previous stays. Firstly, no one was at the dock to give us a ride to the inn even though I called and they said someone would be there. So, we had to walk up the hill with our luggage. Furthermore, the staff were all in a bad mood (exception to this was the bartender abd one waiter from South Africa..both were awesome and friendly) everyone else brought down the experience. They turned down a couple for breakfast who arrived at 9:40 and it clearly states in the website, service is until 10. And, as we were having breakfast on the porch, the grounds guy decided to cut the grass right next to us outside! We couldn’t hear each talk over breakfast. This place used to be special with great service. Unfortunately, things have gone down hill and we will not be back.

As a wedding photographer, we see it all. Some venues want a in/out quick process and some, want you to have an experience. Chebeague wants you to have an experience. The staff is incredibly welcoming and always asking if you need anything. They have the most gorgeous property! It is super easy to get to as well, considering it is an island. I HIGHLY recommend considering Chebeague for your wedding!

We hosted our wedding at the Chebeague Island Inn and they absolutely knocked it out of the park on all fronts! First of all, the scenery doesn't get any more Maine than that. Waterfront views on an island with a very quaint, charming inn (none of that stuffy super-fancy stuff - totally not our style.) The best part was that you do not have to travel far to get to the island. Though you are so close to Portland, you'd never know it based on how tucked away the location feels. The rooms at the inn are also so sweet! Secondly, the food was amazing. All of our guests commented on the generous portions on their plates and the delicious flavors. We were extremely pleased ourselves - from the passed apps to the cheese station to the dinner. Lastly, but certainly not least, Caitlyn (their Sales + Catering Manager) is a superhero angel!!!! She was incredible to work with. She was extremely responsive over email (usually responding same day, even on weekends.) She was extremely detail-oriented, asking us every little question beforehand to make sure nothing went undecided before we arrived on the island. She was generous with her time and served as the point person at the inn for all of our other vendors (which is saying a lot, seeing as everyone had to take a boat to get there and had questions about how to do so.) More than anything, Caitlyn fought to make sure we had the day she promised us. Whether that meant getting on a ladder to hang 10 strands of twinkle lights or fending off some inn staff who were trying to place flower boxes right where the ceremony aisle was supposed to be, she was truly our champion. Also, Caitlyn never bothered us with any questions - she made sure it was taken care of without having to involve me or my husband. We really appreciated that. If you are considering having a wedding here, don't hesitate - call Caitlyn to set up a conversation. If you feel up for the island logistics, it is well worth it.

Review of the restaurant: I have visited here several times by boat, and I love this restaurant as well as the island. The food and drinks are great, the ambiance is great, and the view is perfect. You can rent bikes from the hotel and ride all over the island.

The experience I had at Chebeague Island Inn was everything I hoped it would be. It was a beautiful and cozy Inn with extraordinary staff and delicious dinner items. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to stay for breakfast but they had a great little coffee spread for early risers. I was a bit nervous about the shared baths at first but once I got settled in, I saw that they were very private and extremely clean. It is an older Inn so during the busier times, you can faintly hear other guests but after 9 PM and in the morning, we heard nobody and it was very quiet and peaceful. The staff showed outstanding customer service all throughout. We went for my boyfriend's birthday and they set up a beautiful bouquet of handpicked flowers at our dinner table as well as a very sweet card. I can't wait to come back to this spot! One of my favorite hotel stays thus far.

We had a fantastic time at the Chebeague Island Inn. The staff was exceptional and the food was amazing. My only suggestion would be to find a way to cool down the rooms - especially during a heat wave. We were on the third floor and it was super hot. That said, cocktails on the front porch were a great way to cool down and we would definitely return!
