The owner of this place is amazing- he no ties when I called I was a little upset- we got into Bangor & no place to stay/ he had some rooms- he waited for us to get there 10:30pm plus told us to make sure we ate- he could t do enough for us! The room was nice & big- and very cleanRooms: Rooms were very clean/ they were large rooms- the beds were very comfy and so were the pillows/ also there was a table with a few chairs which was nice to eat at-Safety: There were 2 locks on the doors- we got there in the dark but was very lit- not once did we feel unsafe-Noteworthy details: The owner was amazing- he went over and above for us. I made sure to stop by the office on our way out and say a Big Thank you-

Nothing out of ordinary in regards room, usual low light levels, seemed clean. No service requested, nothing offered.ocation was adequate for our needs. Definately quiet, think we were the only guests overnight. Entrance to place needs better lighting, but on main road. For level of paying guests, young girl on counter was quite hauty. Suggested place down the road after we inquired about a AAA discount or senior discount. Only staying for one night and preferable to sleeping in our vehicle. Overall, nothing special or memorable enough to recommend over anyplace else on this road. Didn't seem to be pest infested anyway. WiFi was okay, signal is very illusive in this area, otherwise. Didn't use TV, so offering there is unknown. Hot water in the morning, was a looooong time coming. Thought a damn cold shower was all I was going to get. Didn't see any moose, but think I spotted a deer in the area. That's about all I've got for this place.Bare necessities, no breakfast options, and up to human standards, no views, let alone breathtaking.Got a response from (someone) connected(?) With this place. Very rude and unable to handle creative criticism of their establishment. I understand why they don't get much repeat business. It seems that this person was looking in a mirror when making most of their comments . You were mistaken when you said your place was highly recommended, I merely stated that a family acquaintance stayed here about 5 years ago for a death in the family.Your open and complete disregard for your patrons is not a good way to build one's business. I could cite a few personals about yourself, but have greater restraint and tolerance for people not fully integrated into our culture. I will be certain to avail myself of other accommodations, the next time I find myself in your area. Have a good day.

Owner was very helpful! Ours was a motorcycle trip and had a hard time finding a room. We called and he saved us two rooms. Price was a little high but all hotels were this summer and this one was worth it! These owners are not just doing this for the money. They take pride in this motel. Very clean, updated, and the bed was awsome.He helped us with getting food and really cared about our comfort

Rooms are very clean, and quite large. They have very friendly staff. Dunkin donuts and convenience store walking distance (our car broke down). There is a pool that looks immaculate. Outback there is a large area to unwind. Fire pit and chairs to relax and unwind. Lots of birds. The trails behind the field are great for couples. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed morning and evening walks. There are also raspberry bushes as you enter. I'm thinking we might book another night, even if they do finish fixing our car.

Clean room but when you pay 275.00 for one night, you expect a few amenities. No bath mat. The tiny soaps they put in the room smell bad and are cheap along with the tiny packets of shampoo/conditioner. The room had a mildew smell to it as well. I’ll pay to stay in a nice place but 275.00 a night for this place is way out of line. The positive is that there is a grocery store and gas station nearby so anything they don’t provide you can acquire there.

The hotel is exceptionally clean and well maintained. They don’t allow pets or smoking, so the rooms smell great, and without any of that “old hotel” smell. The shower was heavenly with great water pressure. The bed was soooo comfy… I wanted to bring it home with me. Best of all is the owner and his wonderful family and staff. They were all terrific in every way. I don’t travel to Maine often… only about once a year, but when I do, this is where I’ll stay. You might say it’s my new home away from home. 🙂 I made the decision to stay there because of all the wonderful reviews, and I’m glad I did. Maybe my review will help you decide. If so, I know you’ll have no regrets. And to the staff: love and hugs from Oklahoma. I'll look forward to my next stay. Peace!

Updating review after a second stay over the holiday weekend. Owners saved our preferences in their system. We were greeted and treated like family. Super clean room with a new tv.Exterior freshly painted and new roof. Fire pit (bring your own wood), tether ball, horse shoes and a nice size clearing where kids can run around. Picnic tables and a grill too. Rooms are very clean and a nice size - we have two beds, a table, microwave and fridge with room to move around. Pool is crystal clear. Coffee available at 7am, there was also orange juice, cereal, powdered donuts and individually wrapped pastry/muffins. Very friendly owners. I would absolutely stay here again.

We had a room with a king bed. The room is a decent size and it has a mini fridge and microwave and TV. The memory foam mattress was comfortable. The property is nice and we liked the privacy out back. The negatives were the blanket smelled like a musty cellar, the water took really long to get hot for a shower and the shower pressure is a bit weak, and the soap they provide is so tiny it looks like a wrapped mint. Luckily, we brought our own pillows to use in addition to the only 3 pillows for 2 people that was in the room. Because the price is reasonable compared to a chain motel, not a bad choice.

We stayed here after a wedding and from the first call right thru to check in and check out the staff were very friendly and accommodating and that means a great deal to us. The room was a good size, immaculate and the beds very comfortable. We would absolutely stay here again!

Place was different than we are used to - no breakfast or coffee pot in room. But was Very clean and comfortable for sleeping. We were in area for surprise 90th birthday. Only reason I gave them a 4 rating is because of no coffee in room. But there was a Dunkin Donut close. Would recommend.

Endlessly grateful for the folks who own this motel! Had a weird situation occur that resulted in me needing to find an affordable motel room at midnight. Called two other local motels, only to be turned away despite them having vacant rooms. The owner at the Canaan Motel was so kind and hospitable. The room was nice and clean, with a cute little kitchenette. Would highly recommend to any other weary travellers!

We have been staying at this hotel for the past 15 years. However, the new management is horrible! We gave them 24 hour notice that we wanted to leave early and they stated they would not refund our money for the unused nights (you prepay for your entire planned stay at the time of check-in). It wasn't until we stood our ground and showed them their own policy that is posted on their website that states "The regular rate for one night will be applied to early departures with less than 24 hours advance notice." (I made a screen shot of the online policy on 6/30/2018, the day we tried to get our refund. I have uploaded that screenshot for you to see for yourself.) They insisted that their policy was NOT TO REFUND once payment was received.Our entire family was staying there...6 adults and 5 children between 3 rooms, and we had a death in the family that necessitated our early departure. During our stay the owners were rude to our son and his wife and tried to refuse them stay because of their ADA service dog, saying that it was a "pet". When our son pointed out the federal laws regarding ADA service pets, the management finally relented, but proceeded with unprofessional behavior towards him and his wife during our stay.Be fair warned, the policies change quicker than the towels, which is why I made a screenshot of the policy posted at the time of the incident.If you need an overnight stay, the motel is "adequate". However, any extended interaction with the management is not recommended.

My parents and I stayed here two nights while traveling around the Bangor area and we were extremely pleased with the accommodations and staff. When I booked our reservation I casually mentioned that my parents were "older" and so upon arrival we were delighted to learn that the owners had booked us in a newly refurbished room designed to accommodate the elderly and handicapped. The weather was unseasonably cool that week and when I commented that I was disappointed it was too chilly to enjoy the outdoor pool, the owner graciously suggested I try the hot tub instead. He opened the facility just for me and provided extra towels so that I didn't need to use the ones from our room. He also searched online to help me locate a barber shop in the area. I would definitely recommend the Canaan Motel to anyone traveling in that locale.

Great bed , very pleasant owner going out of his way to make our stay a good one.Clean , pool, hot tub , towels all there . Store with everything including warm take out right next door.
