Fresh bagels made daily on site, generous cream cheese spread--what could be better? I had the bagel and lox, and my guy had the breakfast egg and sausage sandwich. We both chose sesame bagels, and we both had coffee. The place is lively and spacious, with counter folks who seemed to enjoy their jobs, and were friendly and quick to make our sandwiches, even though they were quite busy. All this, and dog-friendly too!

Very happy with our experience here. Did 2 coffees and 2 bagel sandwiches to go. Coffees were pour your own, so got to fill it up and use mixers as you please (and get more while you wait). Bagels came out nicely toasted. Eggs were good (and fresh) but not overwhelming or with too much cheese. ! had sausage, which was tender and flavorful. Vibe inside is chill and very Maine. Staff was friendly and service was quick.

I really like this place. I enjoyed the simple menu and the staff are nice and the seating was comfy. But they definitely have tiles where they are really really busy. I enjoyed the bagels and the coffee.

Excellent bagels. I'm no expert on bagels (I am an expert on eating), but these bagels taste just like I've had in New York. Great people too!

I ordered a simple bagel. It took over 10 minutes to make. The employee who took my order did other things for this time that were not related to other orders. She finally made my bagel. I wish they had handed me the bagel and showed me where the toaster was. Very frustrating. Bagel was average - not bad but nothing special. This business needs to evaluate customer service.

Bagel(plain) with cream cheese was oddly salty... also 15 minutes for a toasted plain bagel with cream cheese?Cool-stoner-college-town vibe... nothing bad, but there was 1 customer in front of us and there was a lot of staff in a mostly empty shop?

My favorite bagel ever. I have traveled far and wide and tried many, many bagels across New England and bagel caf remains my all time favorite. The spices on the italiano bagel are absolutely unmatched. Although the bagel itself is a little small, it never fails to start my day right. 10/10 breakfast recommendation to anyone visiting the area.

Final update 10/7/2023 -- because of the continuous issues documented below, I began my search for an alternate café. Now, I have found that place. But before I go, I am pleased that Bagel Café has many customers who enjoy the place and don't mind the tick-carrying dogs and the Mexican music because most of the people who work there are dependable (you'll see the same, pleasant faces day after day) hard-working and courteous and that's a big plus in today's world. Although I wish things had worked out differently (I'm a long-time customer) I wish them well.__________________________UPDATE 10/02/23 -- It's a shame that the owner(s) of Bagel Café don't read the reviews. Anyway, now there's a new twist! They blare Mexican band music with all the lyrics in Spanish. So, if you want to visit a bagel café that seems more like a taco shop in Tijuana, you're in luck! What's going on with this place ?!_____________________________UPDATE - 10/01/2023There were 2 dogs here within my first 10 minutes of being here.KEEP TICK CARRYING DOGS OUT OF HERE!(another dog just came in here. Is this a dog park, or what?!!!)___________________________UPDATE - 9/5/2023Today there were 2 dogs inside the café during my visit. I'm sorry to say that they'll be losing a loyal customer if this doesn't change. I hope they place a sign that says, "NO PETS ALLOWED." Easy._______________________UPDATE - 9/3/23Today, there were 3 fullsize dogs in the cafe at the same time. One even barked. Please, Bagel Cafe, get rid of the dogs (and their selfish owners) from your café! Dogs can carry disease and ticks and have NO place inside a café! Thank you!--- UPDATE --Patrons are bringing in their pet dogs now on a regular basis. It's not unusual for two dogs to be inside the cafe at the same time. I'm sure the dog owners luv that. But since dogs carry fleas and lyme-transmitting ticks, allowing dogs into the cafe is a very bad idea.GET RID OF THE DOGS, PLEASE! They don't belong in restaurants!I am a long time customer who travels past other eateries to come here. But due to this dog situation, I'm going to start dining elsewhere much to my chagrin.Dogs don't belong in restaurants. If, or when, the Bagel Cafe posts that pet dogs need to remain outside the cafe I'll happily return. I sure hope they do that but I'm not optimistic.____________________________The staff here are really what makes this place hummm. They prepare your order the way you want it and are so pleasant, yet efficient, about it. There are plenty of tables and no shortage of elbow room. The clientele are never irritable, either. Personally, I travel a distance to enjoy a morning treat here.I bet you'll like it, also.

Arrived at 12:10 to discover they were 100% out of all bagels. I then selected the upcharge for a wrap instead and paid for an additional topping on my wrap that did not get put into my meal. On top of this, it was nearly a 20 minute wait. They were tasteful ingredients but expectations were not met in a multitude of ways, unfortunately.

The bagels are okay. They do not seem to be made fresh daily, as my bagel at 10 AM on a Monday was cold and hard. I don't know if there are better bagels in the area, but if you're coming from Boston or New York and hoping for a real, good bagel, you'll be disappointed. The lox bagel did not have much lox, and the coffee was mediocre as well. It's decent, but nothing special.

Love the energy and a great spot for breakfast or lunch. Variety of bagel options and customizations. Friendly service and good music. You’ll regret not stoping and trying it out.

Some of the best bagels I've ever had, and I really love bagels, on their own, unadulterated. The cinnamon raisin had an awesome crispy crust, but still moist inside, and wasn't too sweet, just the right amount of raisins.A lot of bagels are sweet, these are more towards the sourdough side, which I like. And the drip coffee was really good, not crazy strong like almost everywhere these days.Just a great place, and away from the noise and traffic of the main street.

I didn’t know a $3.50 coffee order could ruin a vacation but this one came close. Ordered a small hot hazelnut coffee and a large hot dark roast at the order window.20 minutes later it became clear that our coffee-only order would be processed in the line with all of the bagel orders. A person waiting with us said they had been waiting for nearly an hour for their bagel. Another woman asked to cancel her order as she had waited for 30 minutes already. At that point we went back to the order window and asked if they could quickly deal with our coffee order so we could be on our way. The employee agreed and returned with a small hot hazelnut, and a large plastic iced coffee cup filled with HOT dark roast (and no ice). The hot coffee melted the straw and I couldn’t hold the cup as without insulation it was scalding hot. I found a trash and quickly threw it out.It looks like the bagels are great, but the staff just could not manage the orders on what looked like an uncrowded morning.

Great little breakfast place. Lots of fresh made bagels and cream cheese flavors to choose from. Staff are very friendly as well. You have to time it right to beat the morning rush but it is pretty fast service. 4 stars because some of the sandwiches they use a microwave for, just seems like a cop out considering how much effort goes into making the fresh bagels.

No complaints here. Delicious salad and toasty bagel loaded with cream cheese. They were starting to clean/close up shop when we got there but they were super cool about letting us eat and check email for 15-20 min despite that. Great value.

I should’ve read the reviews about how long it takes to get food and coffee here.We waited 30 minutes for bagel sandwiches and coffee that came out cold and bland. We felt lucky because at least we were sitting down waiting and other people were standing and waiting longer. They are understaffed and about one out of every three things people ordered was out of stock. They are completely unapologetic about how poor the service is.There’s many other choices in Camden so I would go to any of those other places and stay away from here.If you’re looking for coffee only then Zoots is way better and takes 3 minutes rather than 30.

Some of the best local bagels around! They make a great breakfast sandwich and have a wide selection of cream cheeses to match with your perfectly toasted bagel! And can't forget the helpful and friendly staff! The only bad thing I have to say about the Bagel Café is that they closed their Belfast location! 😂Now I have to go down to Camden on a day off to get my favorite Sausage Egg & Pepper Jack on a Sea Salt Bagel. But it's worth the excursion!

Used to be a great place about 20 years ago. They have definitely gone downhill. If you want attitude with your order and don’t mind waiting up to an hour for a bagel sandwich, this is the place. They also break Maine code by not providing a restroom for customers. So no washing hands here! The germs are flying around this place! If you want really good coffee and muffins, go to Zoot. If you want a good breakfast, plenty of places on Main or Elm Street like Marriner’s.

Had a delicious breakfast sandwich here along with some delicious hazelnut iced coffee. I had an egg, bacon and avocado on garlic bagel and my son had an egg, bacon and cheese on a poppy seed bagel. Both were delicious. The service was friendly and prompt. When the ice bucket was empty the man behind the counter filled it up once I got his attention to do so and was very friendly about it. We'll be back tomorrow for breakfast and lunch to go for out long journey home.

Not a fan of their customer service. I would highly recommend going to Hole in the Wall Bagels instead, they're much kinder there. I tried to place an order today, and the woman who picked up muttered something unintelligible, left me on hold for 2 and a half minutes, and then hung up on me. Also the second to last time I've ordered from here, they overcharged me, made me drive back for a refund, and as soon as I arrived I was told that the refund process could have been done over the phone. They didn't apologize for overcharging me, and they didn't apologize for making me drive back to their store for no reason. Overall not impressed. They have good bagels though!
