What a lovely surprise this place was. It was seriously a very impressive “one stop shop” and never seen this before. I mean I have…I have been to a nice bakery/restaurant that cranked out a delicious brunch, went to a ranger station for hiking routes, gassed up at a gas station, bought unique and locally sourced souvenirs at a hip store and bought yummy snacks at Trader Joe’s. But all in one place? Mind. Blown. In this crazy time of price matching Amazon, daily 13+ hours of iPhone use and this mad and impatient rush to go nowhere, I am so fortunate that I visited this place. So classy.

We are very excited about the new ownership! The new owners will take a wonderful local store and are making it even better. We have been there several times - we love the pastries, the breakfast sandwiches are delicious, and the cappuccino is delightful. The egg cartons are better than any local grocery store in the region. Today we bought chicken cutlets and they were the best we ever had. The owners have an eye for quality and our dedicated to fostering a reliable high quality neighborhood resource.

New owners are wonderful and have been hearing good things from others as well. Stopped in for some fresh breakfast sandwiches (sausage, egg, and cheese), a drink, coffee, and a few other goodies.Well stocked staples, plenty of alcohol, and definitely with a visit. Can’t wait to come back.

Better than the average general store in Downeast. There’s a small cheese section, as well as wine. The quality of everything we've tried so far -- the breakfast sandwiches, the warm muffins and cinnamon buns (if you get their early!), and the egg salad and chicken salad which we've tried for lunch. They also have pizza and daily specials — I love the chef’s smoked ribs while my husband goes for his meatball sub for a treat. To top it, they carry a bunch of local good, the pantry staples all in the first wooden aisle, great local coffee and teas to grab, fresh foraged mushrooms when available, bags of salad greens in the summer and other local produce, and they cook up a fabulous feast of in-house made foods like their breakfast sandwiches, or burgers, or whatever special they are making, plus cold sandwiches or great deviled eggs for lunch, all throughout the day, and they have insanely good baked goods . . . But you can also get your regular "don't feel like driving all the way to the grocery store to get that one thing" type of buys, like Oakland milk, a frozen treat on a hot day, or salt for tomorrow's snow, regular household supplies, or a can of bug spray when you run out and just need it.They have nice tables to sit and eat and read the paper inside and outside, with benches along the storefront to sit in on in the fall and sip on some hot coffee and watch the town. And, probably one of the most important things for the locals like me, at least if you're one of us who leave the tank running on empty too often... they still have gas! Two pumps, right out front.Overall, really great job! Glad the first post-renovation summer season went well (but also happy to always have a parking spot available post-vacationers. 😉) Thanks for all you do!

A small wholesome store. They did not have the sugary unhealthy, mass produced cereal I wanted, but that does not earn them any less of a rating, because what they do have is what the area seems to thrive on.

New ownership, revised review. Seems decent so far but the breakfast sandwiches are absolutely terrible. Used to buy one every day but the quality has gone straight downhill. Literally a yellow brick of "egg" for $5. Gross.

We love the general store. They just let my kids in as they were closing to get s’more supplies. Our family has been coming to this town for over 100 yrs. And supporting a local store is top priority

Nice bldg. Not very friendly, no public restrooms. No fresh coffee mid day.

Offers very little as a general store. Food is only fair. I wouldn't recommend it.

Cool and has everything you need, maybe not everything you want. Their sandwiches are amazing. Better then lobster rolls and when asked if they had dish soap for sale they had just run pit but offered to put some in a dish for us. Good people

The greatest and best-smelling little shop you could ask for. Great cards and clever gifts and a great staff. Distinctly Maine, and totally wonderful

I just stopped in at 4:55 pm on 9-8 to find the door locked. The closing time posted on the door is 5:30. The young man inside knew there were customers but turned out the lights rather than let us in.

Very nice store, plenty of space to move around and view their vast selection of quality item's. We purchased Italian sandwiches from them the sandwiches were made with very high quality ingredients. We also purchased a small blueberry pie from them which was delicious. Outside their store they were picnic tables that we were able to sit at to enjoy our sandwiches and pie.

I am only leaving 1 star only because it's the only way to leave a review. Otherwise you wouldn't receive any stars from me. You guys are still at $3.00 per gallon of gas! No one is even close to that price! I took my daughter in there to get a gallon of ice cream and the price was $7.00! That will be the day that I spend that much money on something that I can get for $2.99 a gallon at every other store .really to bad that you are so greedy! Because you have great employees!!I heard you are only interested in the tourists. What about the hard working people that live in the town? I will never step foot in that store again. You will never ever get another dime from me!what you are doing should be illegal!. I hope the state shuts you down and you get what you deserve. You are a thief. Have a good day if it's possible for a miserable greedy person like your self to have one.

call before trying to go, they are not open when their listing says they are, they never have fuel when you need it and don't restock basic items like drinks. if you are looking for a gift shop or alcohol then this is your place, if you're a local that relies on a local store instead of having to drive 15-20min to blue hill or Sedgwick you're out of luck. endlessly frustrating as a brooklin resident.

Cute BUT wish they would have prices on more of their products. I would have bought more items but the lady was alone on register and she always had someone up there. I didn't want to keep asking how much everything was. Gas pumps were old school, super fun.

This looks to be a newly opened store. The interior is sparkling clean and warm with lots of exposed wood.Inventory of grocery items was a little low.Dairy and meat products available.Staff was very friendly and helpful. This store is in a location that otherwise lacks access to some simple necessities.

Bougie take on the Maine General Store concept, not that I'm complaining, visitor from LA that I am. Literally no place else in Brooklin to buy similar items so, make sure its open. They have pizza, sandwiches, plenty of drinks and general store stuff. Had the pizza at the end of the day, very edible. Not open Mondays, they don't take cash.

Worse cup of coffee I've ever had. I got the largest cup they had and I'd classify it as a medium if that. Coffee was warm and usually it takes me a bit to drink a cup of coffee, especially I'm driving (which I was), I finished this one in less than 5 minutes/5 miles...( I hadn't even left Brooklin before I finished it) and the taste left something to be desired....almost like it sat in the pot for a few hours. For that "large" cup of coffee, a bottle of soda and a bottle of juice was almost $7. I'll take that $7 and drive to the closest Dunkin in Blue Hill for a HOT cup of coffee, not bathwater coffee.

Great pick up foods, wonderful coffee, marvelous baked goods, and quick groceries and pleasant service. Brooklin General is a great spot to go for any of the above. Well worth the trip no matter what.

What would be a 7-11 in most other states' suburbs, eager to overcharge for stale food and the "convenience" of, I dunno, being there, the Brooklin General Sore instead has everything from household staples, to bread and pastries and pizza (everything baked themselves or by a virtual neighbor), to warm meals and breakfast sandwiches wrapped in aluminum foil (all cooked themselves and winners every one), to a small but eagle-eyed selection of beer and wine, all at not just reasonable but good prices. Go to the Brooklin General Store. For a weary traveler to Acadia, it can be like a mirage—save that there's nothing fantastical about the outside and the inside is full of smiles, polite women and men, and all the delicious fare described above.

A great small town store that has been greatly improved over what it had been before. The only downside is it tends to have limited hours and doesn't always have all the staples that you might need, but it usually has enough to save a trip to Blue Hill.

O my God. Where do I begin? What a colossal joke of a store. Open late closes early. Ridiculously under stocked and over priced. Doesn't take cash.
