After hearing some less-than stellar reviews on opening day of the The Bowdoinham Country Store, we decided to check it out for ourselves.The new Country Store is awesome! At times the line was out the door! The room was well lit, airy, and freshly painted. The selection of product includes common grocery items as well as lots of local products such as elderberry syrup and flowers. They have a large selection of craft beer which is hard to find in a small town. The deli had a delicious array of meats, sausage, pasta salad, potato salad, and hot dogs. The pizza we ordered was hot and delicious. The menu is still under development and we look forward to what they add to it. Currently, it is just pizza and subs.The Carrabasset hot coffee was robust and priced fairly. I believe a small was only $1.35.

I give them 3 stars for looks alone. The interior was redone and looks amazing and clean. However the meat case is now smaller and they offer a lot of pre-made gas station type sandwiches. You can still get an Italian however they are not as full as they used to be. Also my wife and I got a pizza. Don’t quote me on this but I am sure they changed the dough and sauce. Not what I was expecting. I had super high hopes for this new improvement but it was short lived. I used to enjoy the “cheers” everyone knows you atmosphere with friendly banter and jokes. Now it’s all business with fake niceness. I don’t know. I haven’t given up yet but with all the hype I expected more of the small town country feeling not the Cumberland farms with a deli feeling. AND the prices on stuff is sky high. The groceries they have are outrageously priced. I’m not saying don’t go because you should make up your own mind and have your own experience. I’m just saying if you knew how it used to be and was expecting something wonderful be aware.

2021Came here last year when the new owner bought it out - it was real nice! They renovated the place and it looks fantastic. Love the new ice cream place.2022Another person now owns this - not impressed. Place looks great still but when getting Ice cream you buy it outside and then have to go inside to pay. Huge inconvenience!The owner before this new one took ice cream orders and payments outside, why did the new owner change this? If the new owner is looking to get people in the store so they can buy stuff... not a good marketing strategy. It's frustrating especially those who have kids or dogs and a turn off. Please change this tactic.

The renovated store is incredible. Like, absolutely amazing. Instead of driving to Brunswick for groceries and food, I can head here for non-dairy milk, eggs, meats, cheeses, flowers, cereal, and so much more. And everyone inside is so nice. It has quickly become a favorite spot of mine. Highly recommend.

Love the new BCS! So glad we have a reliable little store we can run to buy groceries and drinks instead of having to go all the way into town. Plus the pizza is delicious and the biscuit breakfast sandwich is *muah* Really nice employees too 😁

Recently moved to the area and absolutely love the Bowdoinham County Store! Everyone who works there is a delight and their pizza is amazing. We love the breakfast sandwiches too! Great place

We were visiting family and decided last minute to stop for gas and snacks.. bad idea on our part. This store is filthy and has a really poor selection to choose from. The place honestly looks like it hasn't been cleaned in months and we saw flies buzzing around. While my husband desperately tried to find snacks, I asked the girl at the counter to put $20 on pump 2... only to be told they don't do that? Apparently it's debit or credit only, weird but okay. You're better off making the 10 minute drive over to exit 43 in Richmond, much better!!

Store has gone down the deep end store are usually is fully loaded with chips drinks snacks candy anything you can think of another life and may have on the shelves is six bottles of wine, three cans of food and one cooler of drinks. The only food they have now is Italians and pizza. Dave is not taking care of the place. Grew up here in bowdoinham and it’s a shame to see it like it is now.

They illegally charge you a fee for paying with your credit card instead of cash. The State of Maine has deemed it illegal to add a surcharge at point of sale for using credit/debit. They also don’t allow you to process sale as debit.

Love the country store. I've grown up here and though they have modernize it, they still have the same great sandwiches and little town store feel.

This is Bowdoinham's one and only store (the closest alternative is about 15 minutes away), so it would be the first choice for those of us who live here... if only they had more to offer than empty shelves :-(I'm rating 3 stars (instead of 1) because the people who work here, including the owner, are great people. I always enjoy the friendly conversations that I have with whomever is working when I visit, but unfortunately, my primary reason for visiting is to buy stuff and rarely am I able to find what I'm looking for (or even something close to what I'm looking for).Since moving here over a year ago, the stock has gone from basic to almost non-existent. It's sad to see because this store has great potential and the locals would love to spend alot more money here... if only there was something worth buying.I hope things turn around. I really do. I'd hate to see the store go out of business, but unless there's an effort made to improve the store's offerings, customers will have no choice but to go elsewhere.
