We came to this campground with high hopes due to the great reviews. When we arrived to our hobbit hut it was filled with leaves and acorns, obviously not cleaned or checked at all from the previous person checking out to us checking in. We looked past this and swept it out ourselves. However, something that we could not look past is the condition of both bath houses. They were absolutely horrendous. After a day outside and hiking we looked forward to taking a shower but honestly felt dirtier after using the facilities. Shower curtain, walls, and ceiling were covered in mold. The floors were a muddy mess, and the smell in the bath houses was the worst part. We stayed here for four days and the condition of the bathrooms was the same on the last day as the first, so not sure when or if they ever clean their bathrooms. Also, bring your own water or be prepared not to have any while camping. Since there is no water spigot on the hobbit hut sites we walked to one of the two spigots to fill up our water bottles and the water was literally yellow and smelled awful. Definitely not suitable to drink. I am not one to write reviews but since they somehow have 4.8 stars I want to make sure people are aware before booking or prepared before arriving. Disappointed.

We had a wonderful stay at the quiet side campground. It was our first time staying in a cabin on Mount Desert Island, and we had a great time with our two dogs! The facilities were clean, and the office staff was very kind and attentive to our needs, it was nice and quiet, but easily accessible to the rest of the island to go out for adventures during the day, the cabins were awesomely, equipped with refrigerators and microwaves to help make camping easier.

Given the name of the place, I would have expected it to be more relaxing. The peace and quiet were constantly interrupted by annoying children and dogs since everyone is only a stone throw away from each other. You're also close to a road so you hear cars going by all the time. The place is very well maintained though and has a cozy little bath house a short walk away. The Hobit Hut we stayed in was clean and comfortable. The solar charger they provided was very generous and came in handy. Overall, it's a nice campground that has been taken over by loud, annoying tourists just like the rest of Bar Harbor.

Truly on the quiet side. Family of 4 stayed her for 5 days. Great camp site(9), spacious with lots personal space and woodsy. They have a rec room with puzzles, games, tv with tons of movies, a pool table and couches which for us was a life saver when we got rain a couple days in a row.Only a 30 minute drive from Acadia National Park. Lots of local places to dine and visit. Beach and Acadia mountain close by.Great place to stay if visiting Mount Desert Island-MDI.Happy Campers--

This is a fantastic campground! We stayed at Site 15, which is a hobbit hut. It was incredibly cute, clean, and comfortable. It has a queen size bed and is large enough for me to stand up in (I am 6ft tall). The store has everything you need and they have 24 hour access to firewood and ice. The site id close to Acadia national park and is about a 30 minute drive to downtown Bar Harbor. The prices are also the best in the area for a hut or cabin. All tent sites have tables and a fire pit as well as a wood platform. Sites are far enough away to not be bothers by other people. Bathrooms have a running hot water shower as well. If you are visiting Acadia, this campsite is a must!

Stayed here for 3 nights towards the middle of August. Had a beautiful girl's weekend camping and exploring, and we absolutely loved our campsite here. The site we had was quiet and private. The bathrooms were clean and the shower was hot with good pressure. The camp store has hot coffee and tea, among other things you might need. And the owner was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Would absolutely recommend staying here. Great experience for a great value.

Stayed here with my grandparents when I was young and 18 or so years later I had to come back. We stayed in the two story cabin and it was great (they also have a few new cabins and amenities as well so many options to choose from). If your worried it's to far away from Bar Harbor or Acadia National Park, the drive is really not that long to get from the campground to the hot spots of MDI. It's a great place to be in nature and each spot has a lot of foliage to give you a sense of secludedness.

It’s hard to be negative in such a beautiful area. My campsite was about 15 feet from my parking area (motorcycle). The site was perfect, with a great platform and fire pit (see photo). I was on the edge of the property I suppose as I could see a cabin and the neighbor mow his lawn, but he didn’t seem too loud. Super clean bathrooms. Site #36.

We reserved a tent site for two nights, and really enjoyed our stay. The grounds are well maintained and the bathrooms were clean. There was no formal check-in and check-out process, which we loved. It was super easy to get our site assignment off a board outside the office, and our final charges were applied to the card I made the reservation on. It was a smooth process with no unnecessary standing around in the office. The location was convenient considering the price and we liked the set up of this place better than some of the more populated campgrounds closer to the park. It's super easy to find your way around the island and there are plenty of amenities nearby. We would absolutely stay again.

We loved staying here. We rented a rustic cabin and was more than we could have asked for. The setup of the cabin was very cozy and we slept like babies. Bath rooms were clean and easily accessible. The kids were looking for a ball and they were nice enough to let us borrow some toys to play with. We were worried that it was too far away from Bar Harbor, but the drive was very quick and easy. I would highly recommend staying here. Also swimming at Echo Lake is very close.

Stayed in camping cabin 6/22-6/24. Porch space with picnic table worked nicely for cooking on our burner. Bed was of decent size and comfort for two people. Bring a bottom sheet/fitted sheet as well as blankets and pillows! Heater worked great. Mosquitoes were too plentiful! Space for parking was pretty small and cramped, especially for a truck. Cabin and port-o-potty could have been cleaner.. The bathhouse we used was clean and the water was almost always nice and hot!

My absolute favorite place to be- so close to the park and trails, but far enough away that you feel the remoteness of Maine. The Hobbit Hut is particularly fun, but the tent sites are amazing too.Highly recommend!

I've stayed here three times now when visiting Acadia. It's always a good stay. The campsites are nice and none are far from a restroom. Bonus points for showers! I've stayed in both the two story cabin and a log cabin- both were sweet. You get a lot for your money and there are so many amenities within the campground.

I liked the campground. Nice space between sites. We rented the Hobit Hut.Cute, but set your expectations... it includes a bed.... thats it. Not even a small table or shelf. Solar power pack, and panels but it was only at 32% when we got there and limited sunlight. Fortunately we kept our phones charged in the car. Also, only 2 bathroom buildings in the park, and we ended up about as far away as possible from both.Speaking of the bathrooms. Wow. SO DIRTY. When I commented about this on their feedback form, the response was that, "our cleaner has been sick for a week". Then... get a fill in cleaner, or get someone else to do a half-@$$ job tidying up. It was bad.Campground location, site setup and layout get the stars.Room to improve, but starting with a good foundation. I would likely give them a second shot if I'm back in the area.

Stayed here for 2 nights back in Jukt in a cabin. I decided to book here because of the name Quietside. I didn't want to stay in an over populated and loud Camp ground. Staff was very nice. The cabin was clean and comfortable. The overall feel of the campground was well maintained and quiet. There are showers, but I did not use them during my stay. The bath houses are small, but clean. Will definitely stay here again and recommend.

Perfect place to camp if you like a quiet comfortable place! The sites are nestled just far enough in the woods that you're close to your car and you also get some privacy. The bathrooms (free) are close by as well as a washer and dryer (1.50/load). There is firewood and ice on the property for sale. The owner is very nice, and very mellow. She leaves her campers alone, but is very easy to talk to. She's always walking around keeping the place cleaned up. Such a homey feel!

This campground is perfect for your trip to Acadia- it is outside the park so it has a lower nightly rate. They have a camp store if you forgot everything and very nice bathrooms with great soap! My campsite has a tent platform with the fire pit close by, which made it easy to have a fire without setting up chairs. It was pretty overgrown though so you might want to bring some clippers. There are also a lot of mosquitoes.

We really loved our stay! A nice simple and quiet place to camp. Sites have lots of privacy and the bathrooms were clean. The blueberry muffins were fantastic! Cheapest camping I found in the area though a little further from Acadia than I initially wanted so that might be why.

Front desk/management was gracious and accommodating. Campsite was nice and clear, though RV sites don't offer as much seclusion as one might wish, but they are nicely wooded- neighbors were very friendly and quiet hours were observed. Bathroom facilities were clean and close. Wifi worked very well near the main building. Overall we had an excellent experience and would stay again.

We had a lovely time during our stay here. The campsites are clean, well spaced, and feel private. The staff was super nice and informative. Facilities were great-- wifi near office, free showers, games. Thank you for an excellent experience on our first visit to Maine!

This campground is really convenient to the Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse, which is a breathtaking spot to stargaze. I stayed in one of Quietside's cabins, which was a nice inside (plus it has electricity!). Be sure to bring your own sheets and pillows! The staff is friendly, and the campgrounds are quiet. If you want to feel like you're deep in the woods, it's a great choice. For $65 per night the cabin was a great value.

Really quaint and quiet spot hidden away from all of the hustle and bustle of the rest of MDI. Spent two nights in one of their rustic cabins, and slept in the cozy loft up above. Staff are real friendly, and the front office is essentially an old barn that seconds as a rec room with free wifi. That's a big bonus on and island that for 2/3rds doesn't even have basic cell service for phone calls.

Our stay was just that - OK. Checking in/paying for the rest of the reservation: entire process done with someone disengaged and talking on a cell phone (maybe that's a personal preference, to not be on the phone while greeting customers, idk). Site was nice, platforms cool, albeit extremely close to other sites. Water was brownish/iron-y. I've been camping for years, and I get that you're gunna be a little gross at points, but if you're offering a shower and full service bathhouse, it makes sense to keep it clean. It didn't look like it had been cleaned in a while. The shower was incredibly dirty. Trash in disposals was overflowing. Overall, management wasn't present at all, it was dirty where you would expect a little cleanliness, and the trash not being emptied or secured from animals was disconcerting. Dog friendly a plus, tho. Worked for us during our short stay, but would not return.

Easy check in and out, great communication, clean campsite and shower/bathhouse. Fairly quiet but keep in mind campers can arrive and check in at any time! (Which can be both a good or bad thing!) Very reasonable prices, would recommend if you’re looking to visit Bar Harbour or Acadia National Park and want to get away from tbe tourists.

Campground was nice. Huge tent platform that we were able to fit our REI kingdom tent and garage on. Sites are a few feet from parking nestled in a dense wood. While you could hear others for the most part you didn't see them and had a private site in the woods. Northern bathroom had two toilets and one shower stall which could be improved. You may have to wait to use the bathroom. There was a well maintained port a potty by our site that was available as well. There is not a lot of parking, I would take more than one vehicle here. Our neighbors had guest and their car made everything cramped in our small lot.
