What an incredible book store! They have an amazing selection and the layout of the store is warm and inviting. We got to chat with the new and previous owner and couldn't be more pleased with our experience. We will be back regularly for sure!

I am a longtime customer and devotee of Left Bank Books. Although I don't live in the Midcoast area anymore, I still make it a priority to come to Left Bank Books when I visit. Proprietors are always friendly, helpful and accommodating when I phone in and when I come in person, and I am so glad to have such a wonderful bookstore in Belfast! Selection, prices, and workers are always fabulous.

Beautiful bookstore with a nice variety, however, I was disappointed and off put by the manager?/owner? who had no filter in hiding her disgust as my kids looked excitedly around the kids section. I found it extremely disrespectful and tacky to visibly be so irritated by kids excited to look at and read books something one would think a BOOK store owner would want to foster. Quite honestly she just struck me as a snob…Maybe a museum curator would be up her alley

I wanted to love this book store, but the clerk or owner (not sure who she was) argued with me about a display book. I intended to purchase the book but didn’t want the display copy, and she disputed the request in an argumentative tone. I did attempt to clarify and explain my reasoning, she wouldn’t accept it and rudely interrupted me twice. I gave up, walked out, and purchased the book from another retailer.Take it easy on your patrons, they are there because they love books and will hopefully make a purchase. Leave the argumentative communication at home.

Nice place to view top books. They will order anything for you, too. Very cute old - timey comfortable book store that has an immense poetry section and sweet children's book section. Many Maine authors and sizable card and gift section.They could really update their cultural section and carry interesting unknown authors. But, being a small quaint store, it is superb.

Fantastic bookstore run by smart & friendly people. There is something for everyone here: bestseller groupies, history buffs, our sullen teens, small kids just starting to read etc. If they don't have something in stock they will special order. Great author events. Cool selection of gifts. Bonus points for witty/topical window displays.

My favorite little bookstore! They have a wonderful selection of books, but will offer to order anything they don't currently have. Great ambiance, beautiful music, delightfully eclectic interior design...could spend hours here and spend all my money on books!!

Lovely independent bookstore full of well curated books covering a large span of interests. Books on local history and stories by local authors make it a joy to discover fresh material with a local flair. The keepers of the books are very friendly and helpful too!

A bookstore is a place filled to the brim with hidden gems eager to be found by the curious reader. Unfortunately, both of my experiences visiting this book store have felt unwelcoming, unlike the books within (they do have a fair selection and well organized). Both times I visited, I went unacknowledged, the second time being the only customer in the store. I'd blame it on my quiet nature, but there was a bell that rang when I walked through the door. No hello, no goodbye, nothing in between. I know Belfast isn't known for its customer service, but I expected more from the bookstore.

If they don't have it...they can get it or it's not worth reading....the ladies there are very informed. Great card selection as well. Books make great Birthday gifts...unless the person is a functional illiterate..and there are quite a few amongst us..Oy vay.

I called them Saturday because I needed a book by Christopher Hitchens by Sunday to give to someone. And luckily they said they had it, and would hold it for me. Very nice people there. Great selection of books. A++
