Lovely old fashioned ice cream shop, even with the counter and twirly bar stools! I love the decor. The ice cream was indeed delicious, and the chocolate lives up to the "world's best". Next time I would try the sandwiches which sound and look really yummy! Friendly staff, very welcoming people in this town. I would like to come back!

A must visit when visiting downtown area of Bath.We had the turkey gumbo soup and broccoli & ham quiche.Their wraps are yummy too. Service was friendly and fast.We loved the decor,We felt like we had gone back into time, in the best way.

Shared a large ice cream sandwich ($5), cookie was more crumbly than chewy but perfect because it didn’t push the ice cream out. Maine moose tracks flavor. Scoops seemed very large.

Fun place for lunch. The servers were hard working and friendly. Don't turn away if the line is long. There are a lot of choices so you will need time to decide and the line goes quickly. The food was very good and the atmosphere was wonderful. The egg salad could have used some sweet relish. Thanks.

You'll feel like you stepped back into time when you walk in and the prices reflect that too. Everything is delicious! My cousin had the best chocolate milkshake!! They have salads,sandwiches, hand dipped ice cream,take home meals,blueberry soda on tap,sundaes,desserts...

Stopped here for lunch Saturday Aug 26/23. I had the grilled turkey sandwich, along with a vanilla milkshake. I have to say, it was the best milkshake I ever had!! The staff were very friendly and the shop is so cute!

Tremendous selection of sandwiches and cooked delights. We had the chicken pot pie and minestrone soup. Superb! Very nice people made sure this will not be our last visit. Highly recommended.

Came here today 4/15/23We went for a hike and then stopped by for a nice little treat.Parking is in a touristy area so it is street parking, which is limited.The place itself is small and cute, friendly staff.I would suggest having labels inside or outside the ice cream cabinet so people know what flavors they are - yes they have the flavors listed on a chalkboard but you have to guess what ice cream is what still.We split a Aroma Joe's chocolate PeanutButter ice cream and boy was it delicious!! I would come here again and get this

Don't miss out on a great experience!Snugly tucked in heart of small town Bath, The Fountain (as it's name implies) is often actually overflowing! There is a sense of real dedication to food and service that reflects in the abundance of customers nearly always present.When you walk in, you're greeted by not only a smile and design from the best yester-years, but also an absolutely delightful customer facing Deli, and ice cream counter staffed with some of the sweetest people you'll ever meet. Together they make an othewise smaller space feel larger than life! With an abundance of choices for your next meal or tasty treat you're sure to feel like you can always come back and try something new. The portions are generous, the ingredients are fresh, and they offer some "grab 'n' go" food if you're in a rush too. Another testament to their amazing people-first attitude if you ask me.Now unfortunately it's not all perfect... The Fountain doesn't operate 24/7 and thus has a closing time which happens at the reasonable time of 8pm (at the time of this review). Sometimes you'll get your food and inhale it so fast that it's gone before you can savor it.... but these things tend to happen at great establishments right folks? Thats what I tell myself to cope anyway.Well, if you're still reading this review and you havent made up your mind allow me to help clear things up. I sincerely urge you, I strongly advise you, I deeply implore you to give this local business a chance. Your head, your heart and your stomach will be glad you did! I'll see you there.

I used to love coming here for lunch when I worked in Bath! It's almost like traveling back in time when walking through the door. I usually had a Reuben sandwich or Shepard's Pie. The folks behind the counter were always friendly, and worked hard to get orders out in a timely manner. Worth a visit!

What an amazing experience! Not only was the food and ice cream delicious but the two ladies working were super friendly, helpful, and sweet. While I did not get their names, I would definitely come back anytime I saw them working. I hope to come back soon!

What a lovely little deli! I had the Rachel sandwich. Kind of a twist on a reuben, with turkey instead of corned beef. It was delicious! And I'm not normally a big pasta salad person, but wow. I could eat that everyday haha. Potato salad was on point, and so was the broccoli salad! Friendly staff, daily specials. Highly recommend this place!

Ordered a kale salad with blacken chicken and small cup of soup $21!!! The salad was fine but the chicken was soooo dry I almost chocked twice . The soup wasa. Disgrace! Absolutely no flavor or salt and cheap ingredients and barely saw any chicken. Never go there again rip off

I stopped by for the first time tonight. We bought the sundae kit to bring home. It was a pretty good deal. Lots and lots of fudge and caramel and serious helping of sprinkles and peanuts. The space is nice and fits the theme of an ice cream shop well. The sandwiches and general deli stuff looked really good and I will definitely be back to give it a try!

Lasagna bolognese was to die for!! The service is out of this world.We went in at closing, they were nothing short of exceptional. If i had one fault it would be i wished they were open later so i could have continued to browse but i have to say i got the Lasagna bolognese to go, came home heated it up and it did NOT disappoint. It was flavorful, meaty and absolutely delicious. I am one who typically prefers to do it myself but i can't wait to go back!!Thank you for your kindness and your patience as we made our decision's!! If your looking for a place with a great vibe this is it!!

What can I say about the fountain? Truthfully the answer is not enough. I've traveled all over for work in the last year and a half, and this place is easily in my top three favorites in the entire country. Why would I put a deli and ice cream shop into the top three with an Austin Texas steakhouse with an unrivaled lake view, and a Gulfport Mississippi seafood powerhouse? Because everything they do at the fountain, they do to perfection. By having options like hot chocolate floats, soda floats, ice cream sandwiches with any of three cookies, shakes, sundaes and all available with any of the flavors that they carry (which are all extremely good), they create an incredibly varied menu with lots of choices and none of those choices are wrong. Plus they keep their on hand ingredients few, but all gourmet. On the deli side they achieve the same effect with incredibly fresh ingredients, handmade to order sandwiches, At the fountain whether you choose to go with one of the sandwiches they have on the board, choose to make your own, or you choose any of the pre-prepared burritos, enchiladas, quiches, or baked goods, no matter what you choose you will make a great choice. Finally, it is family owned, and operated, with incredible customer service. To summarize I cannot give this place high enough praise, but I will say that the cost of the meal here is a fraction of the value of the experience that you will have. The perfect blend of the old time ice cream shop nostalgia and modern convenience, it is an absolute must for all travelers in the area. If you are ever in bath Maine, do yourself a favor and don't miss the Fountain. It's a once-in-a-lifetime kind of good.

We’ve had sandwiches and ice cream here and everything is always been good and wholesome. Today we ordered the takeout of homemade lasagna and homemade shepherds pie. Wow! Both were delicious and full of good flavors! The portions were generous.

I hate to not promote a small, local business in a positive light, but I'm consistently and increasingly disappointed in this place. Sandwiches get more measly and undercooked with every visit and the female owner seems miserable to be running the place and annoyed with customers. I hope they stay in business, because we need this kind of place in town, but I'm not sure I'll return.

Sandwiches and root beer float were delicious. The staff was friendly. The meals are boxed for to-go and the shop is close to the waterfront park. The shop does have some seating inside, which works well for rainy days. Overall, good experience and will consider visiting again.

Too busy to cook but want a truly homemade meal? This is the place to be. Always a shepherds pie, lasagna or a quiche in the Deli case. The best part is to be able to support a local business.

This place is amazing. The staff was super friendly, and my wife and kiddoes felt right at home. It's exactly what it aims to be -- a cozy, old-fashioned ice-cream parlor. They also serve Mac n' Cheese to die for. What a great time!

Wonderful little ice cream parlor in downtown Bath. They also serve some limited food but it's really an ice cream place. Bring in the children, they will make good memories.
