We made a reservation 10 days early for mothers Day brunch a day early to avoid crowds with our 95 year old grandma who is in wheelchair. The cafe has only one handicap spot which was taken. When we finally found the parking block away and walked back to cafe, we were told they gave our reservation to another party with same name and we needed to wait 15 min or more , or carry our grandmother with her wheelchair down the stairs. It was most frustrating beginning to what was supposed to be a treat for a bedridden woman. We got to our seat to find out several of the chairs at our table were cracked or broken. If you are going to charge over 20 per person for breakfast, at least provide a decent chair. I don't mind eclectic mix, but this was not cool. The food was hit.and miss. Menu has no pictures so you really have to guess. The corn beef hash was a huge portion of dry meat with only few potatoes hidden bellow it. Latte was cold, our poor grandma asked for tea and she was given small, wide cup which she obviously couldn't even lift with her arthritis affected hands without spilling. Overall, I hope to love it and as my husband said, nothing to write home about. ...

Made it here for the first time this past Sunday, despite it being highly recommended by my local friends for years. I tried their corned beef hash, while my date who is a Benedict critic, went with one of their surprisingly many options. Probably the best tasting corned beef I've had out and about. Unsure if it's slow simmered in something or seasoned, but it was great. I wish I remembered which Benedict we tried, but it was average I guess (according to her 😝)Saw the bakery rack kinda empty on this visit. Wasn't too busy for a Sunday morning either.Parking here can be limited. If it is busy, one might have to park away and walk.Would definitely return to try other things!

While we’ve always come to Mae’s for a great breakfast we really enjoyed our first ever Italian night with friends at Mae’s. The dining room was set and lit more intimately for dinner. The fresh pasta and sauces were excellent. I had the veal and short rib over pappardelle. Each of our meals were prepared perfectly. Thank you for expanding your menu and evenings to share such great food. We look forward to trying more of the menu.

Oh My Gosh!! What a gem! The wait staff was so sweet. We were seated right away and taken care of immediately! The coffee was so good and before we knew it the food was out. Everything was delicious from the eggs to the French toast on house made cinnamon swirl bread!! We all grabbed baked goodies from the case on the way out that we're also delicious. The lemon bar is tart but refreshing 😋It was so good we went back 2 days later for round two. I recommend the Morselys Moutain for those that are hungry!Parking: There isn't much parking to speak of, but there is free street parking available.Kid-friendliness: There were children at tables next to us and the wait staff was wonderfully accommodating.Wheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp on the side of the restaurant that can be used as well as handicap parking spaces.

I made a reservation for dinner for six on Friday night, Feb. 16th when some of my relatives were in town. What a perfect place to have dinner! The food was superlative and the atmosphere was absolutely terrific. Our server paid attention to us but didn't hover or intrude on our conversation. I have to say it was the best experience I've had dining out in a long, long time. Well done to everyone at Mae's for adding dinner hours to your repetoire!!Wheelchair accessibility: No one in our party on Feb. 16 needed wheelchair access but I have appreciated it in the past when I took my elderly mother there.

We stopped at Mae's Cafe for lunch, after parking a short distance away. The uphill walk was good for sharpening our appetites, and the downhill return was easy on our full bellies. The building is charming, both inside and out, especially the ancient tree growing through the porch. It was hard not to drool at the pastry case while awaiting our table (a short wait). Service was attentive, helpful and accurate - and non-intrusive. Our choices turned out to be delicious and nourishing. We must return sometime for breakfast!

I have nothing but positive things to say about this place. I went for breakfast at this sit down cafe, and was not disappointed. First, the vibe. Very Maine, very comforting. I sat in a corner booth with real cushions and it was so cozy. Second, the staff. Very friendly and personable. Never had to ask for a refill on my coffee. Even helped me decide on my meal. And with that, the third, food. I got the sagadahoc bennie that came with home fries. Not your typical home fries. Nice spice to them, not overcooked. The bennie was so flavorful. The smoked salmon was fantastic. The hollandaise sauce was just sweet enough. I highly recommend this place. It will not disappoint.

Went here on Sunday morning with a reservation and our food took more than an hour and a half to get to us. Not sure if it was a kitchen issue or the server didn't place the order but halfway through waiting the waitress came out and said that one of the ordered meals ran out. The fact that the order was taken and then took so long and halfway thru they run out is ridiculous. The restaurant wasn't really that busy to warrant that long of a wait time. When we did get our food, it was just regular ol diner food. Might as well go to a diner or even ihop.

This cafe/bakery is perfect. All other restaurants in this category should strive to be like Mae's Cafe when the grow up. Sticky buns, cinnamon rolls, homemade granola, eggs Benedict, traditional and non traditional menu items. I love love love love love this place. Thank you Mae's for existing, you make the world a better place.

I am emailing regarding the Bridal Shower my daughter and I recently hosted at Mae’s on October 21, 2023 in the Loft. I have struggled with sending a message but have decided that if it was my business I would want to know concerns of the customers. The first concern was the communication while trying to schedule the event. It was frustrating to not be able to contact anyone to work on the details without either having to leave a message and wait for a return call 1-2 days later or to send an email and wait 1-2 days for a response. When the details were ironed out regarding the number of guests, etc. as well as scheduled a time to be able to decorate it appears the information was not communicated to staff. When we arrived to decorate, the woman we worked with was surprised to see us. She didn’t know we were coming Friday at 11:00 to decorate and was not prepared for us. (The shower was being held Saturday morning at 10 a.m.). We helped carry a table and chairs up to the Loft to set up. Also, she was expecting 35 guests not 30 as had been confirmed in an email. Again, it appeared information on details had not been shared. I did confirm with her that we expected 30 guests. We did a set up for 30 guests and had one empty seat. We were charged for 35 guests.A second concern was with the cleanliness of the room. A few decorations had been placed on the bar before we realized it was all sticky. We removed the decorations and cleaned the bar. Also, the chairs had a healthy layer of dust on them. We requested a bucket of water and a couple of rags so they could be wiped down. We were given a bucket with rags and wiped the chairs down ourselves along with a few other areas. We also used the vacuum in the room to clean the floor. The stairway leading to the Loft could have used a vacuum as well. The third concern was with the presentation of the food. The quiches were placed on the table with cookie sheets under them. The fruit salad consisted of a plate with some cut up cantalope, pineapple and a handful of grapes scattered across the top. There was nothing appealing about the food presentation. This was not the quality we expected. We were really disappointed with the customer service, food presentation and cleanliness of the venue. I would be hesitant to provide a recommendation to anyone.Note: No response was received from the restaurant regarding the email.

You won't find a more at home feeling than Mae's. I do construction, and I am currently still working across the street from Mae's at the sheriff's office. It looks like someone's home. Then you go in and the staff is immediately at your service. They are kind and attentive. They have a walnut pecan sticky bun....this thing will send you to Jesus. It's massive. I usually have to eat it throughout the day. It's worth every single penny! They also have the wu tang clang symbol on their shirts, so for me, that was nostalgic and made me want to buy a bunch of shirts, too, lol. It's like a gift shoot bakery slash restaurant with the best atmosphere I have felt in a long tim. So if it's a hot coffee, a hot breakfast or lunch or maybe just need a friendly hello, go to Mae's you will NOT be disappointed.

We went to Mae's this morning. I was excited they took reservations and really looked forward to having breakfast w/o a 30 to 45-minute wait. We arrived a bit early and were promptly seated in a private dining area. I think we were the first patrons as they opened at 8 and it was a few minutes after when we arrived. From here nothing was really "prompt". The drinks were brought out within a reasonable time, but everything else took a long time. Our food took almost 30 minutes to come to the table, maybe a bit longer. And we had to flag the waitress down for coffee refills beforehand.Once the food was delivered we asked for butter and syrup - we finally gave my mother ours because her food was getting cold.I ordered oatmeal with apricots/blueberries/cinnamon and asked them to hold the nuts. Instead, I got apricots and literally no flavor in the oatmeal; it was so bland. I was told the menu is confusing and it's blueberries or apricots... I asked her to at least bring some cinnamon but it couldn't help it - that stuff was just bad. Luckily the french toast was delicious and a large helping so my family shared it with me.I asked for the checks right after the food was brought as we were beginning to run behind schedule given how long everything was taking. It again took forever for her to come back to get the checks - I finally walked up and found her.I wouldn't go back - slow service just grates on my last nerve, but the French toast may be worth the wait if you did go. Just stay far away from the oatmeal.

Delicious! We are two Texans on vacation here in Maine and we loved the burrito and quesadilla. The chocolate chip cookie was also one of the best we’ve had. All on a gorgeous patio!

Delicious food, decent size portions and great ambience. I think our server was a little distracted - took over 40 minutes for her to take our order after we had the drinks. We were to visit anyway, so it was all good!
