Great lighthouse well managed path to the lighthouse itself the path maybe a little steep in a few areas, but it's mostly paved. The area does have restroom which where nice and clean but no running water. There is no picnic area but the parking lot.which maybe on the small side is great to have a picnic

Beautiful, iconic lighthouse seen on all the postcards and shirts and merchandise from Acadia. However, the best iconic view is down several stairs, over some slick risky rocks down almost to the water to look up and get the best view. You can walk down to it from the parking lot more easily, but it's not as impressive view even if you can get right up to it. The parking lot is super small. There was a line of cars backed down the road, just waiting for cars to leave. Several people just got out of their cars and left a driver while they went down to take a look, take photos, then walk back to the car still stuck in the line of traffic and to leave and not wait for a parking spot. I highly recommend checking this light out, especially if you can get down to the better view safely.

This photogenic spot is very popular with photographers. A gorgeous view of a lighthouse perched along the rocky coastline. this is Maine, which you see everywhere, this iconic lighthouse. After parking your car, you walk down a short path to get up close to the lighthouse and panoramic ocean views. - that is where the lighthouse is- and that's it.. it stops there and I was wondering where people take those iconic photos?so I went back into the parking - and there is a small walkway going in the left direction (near the restroom) that takes you down (mind it, it's rocky)... photographers were already there with their setup where normal people won't go. it's a bit dangerous. From Bar Harbor, it takes over 30 minutes to drive here. Along the way, you will pass Echo LakeParking: This is another trendy place to visit in Acadia and the parking lot is tiny.

Get Ready to Scramble. The trail down to the rocks can definitely be slick after rain and is not ADA accessible. Wear good walking shoes and take your timeThe trail to the right is slightly more accessible but is steep.Fee for Park.Parking is limited but we were able to park at about 6 pm on a Friday.

This seems to be the Iconic place everyone wants to visit. I arrived with my wife late evening right before sunset when almost everyone was ready to leave. Parking will prove to be difficult during the day, as there is only a small parking lot of 30 spaces or so with 1 road to access in or out. Expect to park further away if coming during the day. I feel the best time to visit this iconic landmark is before sunrise, and before sunset. Don't forget to take bug spray or the mosquito's will feast upon your soul.

Absolutely stunning views from the east-end trail viewing up to the lighthouse. We were standing there with photographers capturing the sunset, which I can highly recommend. Be mindful that parking is very limited and the road leading towards the lighthouse is almost always full of traffic. I recommend parking that the Wonderland Trail Head and walk beside the road from there.

Very nice quiet place to visit. Note that there is no parking on the roadsides leading up to the lighthouse parking area. The parking area has maybe 15 places and 1 handicap accessible parking place. The handicapped parking space is in the first row of spaces closest to the ocean and farthest from the entrance to the parking lot. The way it works is you drive up to the parking lot and if you see an open space in either of the 2 rows of spaces you go for it. If the lots full which you can see from the entrance to the lot or in our case there’s already cars lined up on the entrance road. You wait at the entrance to the lot and if a car leaves your next to go take the open spot. We didn’t really wait that long and actually it’s pretty easy just wait til a car comes out and in you go. While we were waiting on the entrance road there was a 10 point buck grazing 15 ft from our car at the edge of the woods. The deer didn’t seem least bit scared to graze and watch us, however it’s not hunting season and you couldn’t hunt in this area anyway so he knows he’s safe. If you walk to the farthest part of the lot away from the road, there are restrooms available and a trail down to the water to the right of restrooms. The trail is good and the stairs going down to the ocean are very well built and sturdy, solid as a rock. When you get to the bottom of the stairs there are stone natural steps further down to the ocean. Beyond the stairs the steps vary in height and ease of making your way down or up. If your not to steady on your feet there are observation decks part way down the stairs with views of the water and the lighthouse. It’s a very scenic and peaceful place at the lighthouse.

Very fun! Short walk from parking lot to actual light house, or if you take short walk through woods and down the steps you can climb some rocks. Not too hard.Vault toliets and parking on site.Park of Acadia National Park so make sure you have pass in window.

Great for a quick 30 minutes to 1 hour stop. We visited two short trails on each side of the harbor. Both sides were just a quick stroll away. The trail to the right will bring you to the base of the lighthouse. However, at the left trail, you'll have to step out to the rocks by the sea, which was somewhat challenging, in order to see the lighthouse. The ranger stationed there was friendly and was giving out nearby Maine attraction guides for free. She said that the lighthouse was not open for the public to get to the top.

A fun little journey took about a half an hour to walk down the trail on both sides of the lighthouse. The wait in line to park was longer than the actual journey itself. We had a beautiful day and enjoyed our time here highly recommend.

⚓️Bass Harbor lighthouse is a great stop to make on the Quiet Side of the island. The parking area is very small, so of it is a busy day, be prepared to wait (or better yet, go early).⚓️ The view is gorgeous- rain or shine. There are outhouses available, but we did not see a souvenir shop.

We got to the Lighthouse shortly after sunrise, only one other couple was there. It can get very crowded especially around sunset time, and there is limited parking. As a young / fit couple we had no problems going over the rocks or down the stairs, however one does need to use caution though! Can become very slippery and some of the rocks are very uneven to walk on.Besides that, the view of the Lighthouse is beautiful! :) Definitely worth making a stop to see it.

Visiting here was so peaceful. All you hear are the buoys. We visited in the evening about 6pm, perfect timing almost no one was there. To get pics of the front (from the water) you have climb out on the rocks on the opposite side. Wear sneakers and be careful, the rocks are in water but it will be an incredible photo! Have a strap for your phone or camera and keep loose items secure. Enjoy!

No entry fee. The view is beautiful. But there is nothing much to see. You can park the car and walk for a couple of minutes to check out the light station. It is pet friendly. They have parking space for around 25 cars. There is no charge for parking. There are no trails. The sunset view is amazing. There are no spots to sit and chill. I was there on Sunday and the place was not crowded.

Beautiful, humble yet majestic lighthouse. Must have a National Park pass on your dash for parking. It has a tiny parking lot with a very narrow road down, so don't take your RV, and be prepared to wait in line for a parking space during peak season. Public toilet and two separate viewing areas available for the lighthouse. Handicap accessible but the paved walkway is steep! The roses and sea breezes in summer are lovely!

This lighthouse house is not open to the public. The trail leads down to rocks above the water. You can see the lighthouse if you are comfortable climbing on rocks. There is very limited parking space and I had to wait in line for about 20 minutes to park. There are park toilets (no water).

The view is nice, but I’m not sure it worth all the trouble of waiting for a parking spot. There are very few available and you can’t park on the street as too narrow. If you manage to get a parking spot after waiting for someone to leave for you to take its place, follow the trail at the end of it and take the stairs toward the sea, to finally take your shot. It’s not possible to visit the lighthouse. It’s a private property. It’s been converted to automated mechanism in 1974. A large board explain the history of it.

There is 2 ways to access the lighthouse. One to the right which you can go right up to the house and see it. But it is privately owned and somebody lives there. The second is walking to the left. Going down the stairs, getting close to the ocean, you can walk over rocks to see the lighthouse.

Iconic lighthouse in Acadia National Park. Very popular at sunset and therefore very difficult to find parking. However, a visit during sunrise is also worthwhile and the parking is a lot easier (your car will need to display and an Acadia vehicle pass). You’ll need to scramble on some boulders to get the best view of the lighthouse so wear appropriate shoes. While you’re there, check out the nearby Ship Harbor Trail. It’s an easy (and flat) 1.5 mile loop along the coast and in the woods and is family friendly and picturesque.

Would recommend a quick stop at the Bass Harbor Head Light Station. Two very short paths, one paved and one down about 30 stairs and over rocks, lead to the light house views. Unfortunately, we could not tour the light house or the lighthouse keeper's quarters, so we could just view from outside. Small parking lot and bathrooms on site, almost no one there when we visited in November.
