Everyone at PVS is absolutely wonderful. We had Dr. Beckett see our girl Sadie this past week for sudden onset labored breathing, and I can't thank everyone enough for squeezing us in not just once, but TWICE on short notice. I'm a fellow LVT and I know staffing and time are just a couple of problems plaguing the industry, so it meant the absolute world to my family and I. They took wonderful care of our pup and made sure she was comfortable and safe, even when facing a difficult diagnosis. She is back to her old self, chasing her tail as I type this. I will forever be grateful to PVS for their help ❤️ you are all rockstars!

The doctors and staff at PVS have treated our cats very well. They are very responsive to our calls and emails and super helpful in going above and beyond for our pets needs, helping navigate through tough decisions. They are also very empathetic and will walk with you through the process of putting your pet down when that becomes necessary.

Had a wonderful visit to PVS! This was MontanaBear's 1st annual appt & everyone was very friendly! The receptionists were personable, Diane the Vet Tech was very knowledgeable, & most of all the Doc's (Ron & Tina) were GREAT! Dr Tina even got down on the floor to introduce herself to MB, as well as, Dr Ron while he examined her. We are in good hands!!!Thank you PVS!! woof woof

In short: These guys are amazing! They don’t price gouge and they are so compassionately honest about your pets health.The long version: I noticed my cat had swelling on one side of her face today, we recently moved and didn’t have a vet set up yet so I spent ages calling many of the clinics in the area. PVC was the first clinic to find a way to get us in for a same day appointment. The staff was so friendly, Dr. Ron Miles checked out my cat and was so kind but honest and direct about the prognosis of my cat. I went into the appointment thinking she might have an abscessed tooth, when Dr. Miles examined her he was worried it might be a melanoma, which generally don’t end well, and suggested doing a swab to check for malignant cells. Unfortunately the swab did detect cancerous cells, I admired that his immediate suggestion wasn’t something that was going to be exorbitantly expensive (like chemo or extensive surgeries) and in the long run not in the best interest of my cat, which I’ve run into with other practitioners. He suggested an antibiotic shot and some pain medicine, and to essentially keep her comfortable.The situation stinks, but I will not hesitate to go back here for all ongoing care for all our animals because I know they will receive the care they need and I’ll be getting an honest assessment of my pets health.

I think it is wrong for a Vet to bring up racism among human beings and to bring up topics like Vet Arena did with appointment I was in. I felt the comment was directed at me based on assumptions based on me being a white male. I think if the question I asked was asked by someone not white I would have heard a different answer.I hope that she doesn’t treat people that way anymore because it hurt me deeply and she should leave race politics at the door.

My two goofy puppies love to bark, and are kind of noisy and a pain in the butt to take to the vet.Penobscot veterinary services staff are incredibly patient and very understanding. They don't mind taking one of my dogs through the back door right into a room So they don't bark at the other dogs in the waiting room. They understand that they just have some anxiety and need to calm down first before being seen.I've never seen anyone so patient and so understanding with my animals. I wouldn't take my dogs anywhere else.

To anyone looking for a vet, Lucerne is the place to go. I had a horrible cat trauma emergency just mere hours before I was supposed to go to work as a night nurse at a local hospital. I wasn't sure if my cat had a partial airway obstruction, a perforation of his palate or a tear in his esophagus, but there was blood pouring out of his mouth. Of course as an emergency knowledgeable person you go to the worst case scenario.Long story short, they were able to get my cat right in and were understanding when I said I needed to be to work. They trusted my medical knowledge enough to send me home with lots of caveats to treatment. Plan to use them for my all future animal care. Hi

This vet was office was recommended to me by several people. My Mom takes her pets here. My Aunts and Uncles have been taking their pets here for years. Our extended families go here. All my cousins and their families go here. I was surprised to say the least to have had what was probably the worst customer service experience of my life when I called this place to set up an appointment for my cat. I'd leave zero stars if I could.I called the office Wednesday afternoon and a woman answered. I said I would be a new client, I have a pet cat and we had moved back home to Maine from Boston less than a year ago and it was time for my cat to be seen and get her vaccines. The woman told me she wouldn't schedule us until October because we are new clients, which is an insane lead time for a vet appointment. I switched vets during the pandemic and never had to wait longer than 48 hours to be seen for any reason. For reference, my neighborhood in Boston had a higher population and less than half the vets that the Bangor area has.I said I was hoping to be seen sooner, my cat has a bit of an increased appetite, experiences chronic stress-related cystitis and gets an annual urinalysis, she's a senior (12 years) with arthritis, and in the middle of me trying to explain her kidneys and thyroid are monitored so she needs a blood panel, the woman interrupted me. She said, "Even if your pet was experiencing a health issue and needed to be seen as soon as possible, I would not accommodate." What kind of vet office flat out tells people that they don't care if your pet is sick? What kind of vet office flat out admits they do not care if someone's pet lives or dies? All because I have never had an appointment here before?I said okay, well, I guess let's book a time slot for October since that's apparently my only option. The woman interrupted me a second time. "No," she said. She refused to give me an appointment time until after I sent in my cat's record and they have looked over her medical history, which, again, is incredibly weird. It also feels extremely discriminatory? So if my cat has an issue you don't feel like dealing with, you'll just refuse us medical services? I've never, ever in my life had a vet office refuse to give me an appointment for any reason, let alone discriminate pets based on their health.Again, I said okay, I can give you my email and our old vet's info, I'll sign the release form to request my cat's records from our old vet. The woman interrupted me a THIRD time and straight up scoffed and chuckled at me and said, "No, no, no, no. YOU can contact your old vet and have THEM send US the file. Then YOU can call US back in a week, and then we will confirm whether we received and have reviewed her file or not. I do not have the luxury of time." You don't have the luxury of time to... do your job? Sending a fax? Calling your clients back to confirm records and an appointment time is too heavy a workload? I've never been so outright disrespected by someone working in customer service. I've never been spoken to like this, ever, in my life by someone working in any field.If this woman is this nasty and cruel to customers, imagine how bad she is toward the poor animals that are under her care. I would never trust this place to care for my pet, especially with such a vile person working there. I still can't believe how awful and condescending this woman was on the phone, and I just can't wrap my head around a vet office employing someone who goes out of her way to treat people who are just trying to get their pet who medical attention so miserably.

We love Penobscot vet! Both of our girls go here and get amazing care. Remmy is well-known here, having had many procedures and visits, and everyone knows her by name. They truly love what they do and it shows. They will always squeeze you in if a pet is sick and definitely have their well-being in mind. If you want your pet to have the best care money can buy, take them here.

My 4 furbabies have been loyal patients of PVS for about 8 years! The staff is excellent, caring, devoted, attentive, and put the animals first! Dogtors Miles, Thomas, Arena and Beckett are outstanding providers that continually go the extra mile! The team gets to know you and your furkids and it feels like you're part of the extended family! I know many are partial to their veterinarians, however, if you're looking to establish care for a furbaby, I highly recommend this practice!

We've been going to this office for a few years. On sat we lost several puppies, but one in a garage fire. The staff was so kinda, understanding, compassionate (to us and our little fighter) it's been a tough few days and it was so comforting to leave our little guy in their care. Staff seems competent enough. Prices are non-competitive. Have been customer for years and what I most notice is disrespect for the value of my time that borders on malice.If they ever get a challenge to their relative monopoly, I will leave these people that same day.I matter. My time matters. You're dead without the cash of your customers and you will be wise to consider that reality.
