I adopted a kitten on Black Friday whom I saw in PetSmart. Her name was and is Lyric, I decided to keep her shelter name because I love it so much. The adoption process was so easy and pain free and Allison made it an absolutely wonderful process. I already have 4 cats so the process of integration is one we are taking slow but making so much progress in. The day I first held her, she was trembling so much which went right to my heart. But since bringing her hope, she has not trembled since. She was quiet and hid in her room the first night but after that, she became this very vocal, opinionated, fearless, and social kitten, I believe, her true self. She is very curious and loves to play. She is doing so well and I am so happy to have her. Thank you to KVHS for all you do and especially to Allison, she was lovely and helped make this very memorable!

I got my Lucky Boy on St. Patrick's Day. He has been home for a month. I can't imagine a better boy! He was so shy on my first encounter with him..but he is soooo loving and sweet! Don't know his origin, but know he is 5 years old. Please do not discount those babies that are shy! Couldn't ask for a better fur baby! He has made my life so much better! ❤️

We adopted a bunny from here and they are willing to answer any questions you may have and they are very knowledgeable! We adopted during the pandemic and it was a smooth process. You just have to call ahead and make an appointment to see one specific animal at a time. We are in love with our little girl Malibu! She is a spunky little girl and we are working on bonding her with a male bunny named Maverick and so far the bonding process has been progressing nicely.

Never met a more amazing, hardworking, friendly and welcoming crew of people- than the fine, genuine people who work here. They're dedicated, diligent and working harder than you can even comprehend. Astounding kindness and love for their job- shows with how much effort goes into the different facets of their work. Me and my mom went in for a cat. This place is the cleanest shelter I have gone to. The pets are cared for the staff is great they help and were involved with us. That’s when I adopted my cat Thor he’s doing great

I got right in. The Vet came in promptly and did a thorough job with the physical. The staff are nice and helpful and I will be taking fenway there for all of his canine medical needs. The price was right too!!!

Great place to find a furry friend with great customer interaction and all around great service from the staff they are very kind and willing to answer any questions you may have. I actually adopted my current cat from there last year! While the animals are in their care they are well taken care of and in clean Living Spaces with for the most part adequate space while being held there temporarily. So overall if you are looking for an animal to share a piece of your heart with I would highly recommend checking this place out!

They are AWESOME!!!!! From walking through the door to leaving with my girl LULU. I really didn't want to leave. I only wish that I had more time and space to adopt more than one. Their knowledge is through the roof. Their love of these cats and dogs can't be measured, it has to be seen. Thanks again for everything, sorry for 5 ⭐ there wasn't a 10 🌟

Nice and clean! We just adopted Biscuit and he's wonderful, he fits right in like he's lived here all his life. They took the time to explain all his records and tell us about his behavior issues, no problems so far. He's a great dog!

This animal shelter is number #1 in our book. The staff were super friendly, helpful and the adoption process went fast and nice. They let you adopt right away without sending you away and having to come back later. They had lots of dogs to choose from that are spaded or neutered up to date on their shots and they even offer identity chips for a small one time fee. We heard they will be getting lots of Beagles soon, so if your looking for a new best friend or two then we highly recommend Kennebec Valley Humane Society.

I went here and got a female Guinea pig named Loki. She is the sweetest thing and gets along great with my other Guinea pig! I had no idea how to introduce them, but the staff were super helpful, informative, and friendly! They gave me some advice on what to do and it was great!The only problem I really had was how loud the environment was, there was a small screaming child and it made it hard to focus on the Guinea pig. I also think it scared a lot of the other animals there. I would definitely advise an age limit rule so the animals and other customers don’t become so distressed, but other than that I had a wonderful experience and would definitely recommend going here!

Didn’t appreciate getting interrogated in front of everyone including other customers directly after asking to meet a dog. When she gave us no context or background of the dog or his story other than telling us he had one bite history and not explaining. Immediately started questioning us in a rude and disrespectful tone. Especially for a dog that has the most toys, signs all over the kennel encouraging others to ask to meet him (unlike every other dog there). If you’re not going to let anyone meet the dog, don’t hang signs up asking us to! I understand some dogs aren’t for just anyone, but there was a great lack of professionalism on the employees part, and a misconception on the dogs kennel. The other staff was friendly and kind.

I’ve gotten many cats from them but I have never experienced something like this. My kitten that I got was doing great! Being perfect, even got along with our other cat. But after a while we started noticing that she was itching herself a little too much. So we decided to check her for fleas. Once we checked her, fleas started appearing everywhere on this cat. Fleas literally spreading from out of her forehead. This is literally disgusting. Do not get cats from them.

We are here now adopting our second dog from Georgia and they are wonderful. The pets are very well cared for and the staff are all very knowledgeable and helpful. The dogs are fixed and up to date on all their shots. If you are in the greater Augusta area and would like a dog I highly recommend coming here.

This is a great place for finding and adopting a pet. They take very good care of each and every pet that comes through their doors. We recently lost our Golden Retriever and my daughter reached out to them to be on the lookout for her. They were very kind and concerned and more than happy to watch for Goldie. Six days later she was back home. I am forever thankful to know we have people like these we can count on in times like this.

I want to tell everyone that yes it may have been an odd visit. But when people are very busy, they tend to forget that compassion and interaction to people is required in the business field as well. But their compassion for animals showed. Every animal seemed happy and well kept. I would have taken them all home if I could. <3 I would kindly donate money to these guys and maybe help them out. So many places are short staffed now-a-days.... So instead of being judgemental, I suppose I will just learn from it, and make the best of it. Right? My little kitty that we adopted today is very happy, very clean, and already sleeping in my lap. If you are willing to judge, be willing to do the job yourself ;) they offer volunteer applications if you ask at the front desk.

They don’t actually care about getting dogs out to the right homes. They keep the dogs and put them through processing that are stressful for the dog, like multiple homes when one person would love to bring the dog home.

Went in and found a 7 month puppy whom was the sweetest little pit all lovey and quiet. Inquired to see her or interact with her for a moment. Staff asked if I had any other pets. Which I replied yes one 8.5 year old terrier pit mix whom loves all people and dogs. They denied me right then and said she wouldn’t be a good fit because of my other dog. I guess they were convince that the puppy at the shelter could not tolerate other dogs because it got into it with her other sibling puppy twice. So they labeled that poor girl as aggressive with other dogs.I’m sorry but How dare they judge a dog in the week they’ve had it. It’s called “Training” Also they are puppies they play rough sometimes especially with siblings from the same litter. So if you want to feel judged wether you’re a human being or an animal this is the place for you! # Judge/ jurorAlso got told that all the dogs were not dog friendly So they wouldn’t be a good fit, besides the one they were trying to push. Whom was the only one that would “do well with other dogs” even though there were at least 3-4 other dogs and puppies that didn’t seem to flinch at dogs going by their kennels. Let alone the one they tried to push got labels as food aggressive even though she is also only 7 months old

I was very impressed with the facility. Cages were clean and animals seemed well cared for. I met 3 wonderful cats and now regret not taking the 2 I went in to see. I'll go back for another visit.
