Ordered a panini and it took 40 minutes. A new employee learning I can understand, but the owner was right there and didn't bother asking to give me something else or a refund for the ridiculous long wait. Bread was just sandwich bread, not good panini bread. Pass.

It's a cute little store that does sell a variety of items however the store is overpriced, and the food is sub par. The pizza is bad and if you ask for a toasted sub they will just ignore your request and serve you a wet meatball sub with soggy bread. (Apparently they can't toast em because I complained, why don't they tell you this when you order?)

Very nice little country store. Had the white pizza and used their bathroom after a long trip in the car. Had real food and fun treats along with fun little things one buys on a trip. Bathroom was clean enough for what it was. Outdoor seating if you want to eat there, none inside.

Love this little treasure! Good food, and an amazing staff. I ordered the steak tip sub today and it was absolutely delicious. Great job for this tiny gem. The only complaint is that I wish they had some fresh local produce like tomatoes...the basics, and I bet if they delivered they would make a killing. We moved here about 6 months ago, and my girls and I are so happy to have found all of the smiling faces in a very unfamiliar new place!!!

Great old country store. Surprising selection of food. Frozen food, pantry Staples. Soda and beer of course. And good prepared food. Used to crush breakfast sandwiches after parties with my friends.

Smjvicall, quaint, generally friendly and AMAZING sandwiches. The pizza sauce is a little too much on the sweet side for my taste but otherwise delicious. They really pile meat into their sandwiches...I highly recommend the Steak Bomb with Chipotle mayo...wonderful!

I love this place. The breakfast sandwiches are wicked good, always hot, and ready right at 6 when they open. Staff very courteous. Warm and friendly. Also, I love their lobster rolls in the summer too. Very big fan.

Nice folks inside, good quality deli and sandwiches, plenty of novelties inside for people passing through. Glad we stopped in and found the place. Will be back when we pass through your neck of the woods. Keep up the great work!

This is a great spot to stop for a sandwich and a local beer from the cooler. Unlike some of the other convenience stores in the area this small space is a bit of a throwback. With an eclectic assortment of goods, snacks and an excellent sandwich and wrap menu. They have a small seating area inside and out but really they're best for grabbing an excellent sandwich or wrap to go. They also sell other local premade foods and the general chips and snacks and beverages. A small collection of memorabilia is also available. If you need a quick bite stop on in!

I grew up in Alfred, left for the military, and was excited to return 11 years later because I missed the friendliness of the people of Maine. I used to go to Alfred Country Store growing up. My brother and I would walk over for candy and sometimes on Fridays my family would get pizza or subs from there. Needless to say, I was excited to order pizza with my family from here for the first time since moving back this past Friday. However, when I called to place the order, the person on the phone gave me an attitude when I asked if I could order some pizzas, she was rude the entire conversation, and didn't even say goodbye before hanging up the phone. I was so disappointed after hanging up the phone, someone suggested I just don't pick the order up. But because I am nice and from Maine, I called back to cancel my order (not even 2 minutes after placing the order). Met with attitude again and "she already started making it," I told her I won't be picking it up because of her attitude. She said something like, "fine" and hung up. Never again. I don't know what happened but for a small town store in Maine, customers should be treated with more respect than this.

Got the Cabo wrap which used to be great. Now it only comes with 1 thin slice of turkey. Save yourself the $10.

We have to go out of our way to get to Alfred Country Store, but we do it all the time. The main reason is the menu, which has a lot of variety and is very modern. You can still get a Steak Bomb or Italian Sub if you want, or you can get something lighter like a Cabo Wrap. I think their pizza is the best around. It's a different style than other places in the area. Even if it isn't your favorite style, I bet you'll find it pretty good. The baked goods are otherworldly. There are a couple of negative reviews that just don't seem fair to me. I'm not affiliated with the store in any way (other than being a fairly regular customer). I don't know the owner. One seems to have shown an out-of-state drivers license and the clerk couldn't find the DOB on it. The clerk didn't handle the situation perfectly and the reviewer attributed it to racism. Another was upset with curt conversation while ordering. If they were busy, the person answering the phone is likely also on the register. The store itself is very nice as well. It seems to have everything you'd need if you were upta camp. It feels a lot more organized and less cluttered than other stores in the area. They also have a fine selection of souvenir type items for the summer people. The staff has always been super. They really seem to care about the customers and their jobs.I love the Alfred country store.... Excuse me while I phone in my lunch order....

I got the buffalo chicken wrap, it was pretty decent, maybe a bit soaked in sauce. The fries and onion rings were very good, I will definitely try more sandwiches and wraps from here in the future

Would give it 0 if I can. Recent job openings say 16 and 18 a hour. Clock in 1 minute late and the owner docks your pay $2 a hour for the rest of the week. What a scammer! The fridge and walk in coolers are filled with mold and then he blames his staff but refuses to let you work without him breathing down your neck. I got very sick working there exposed to mold and other fungus. Owner then blamed me for it.

SHAMEFUL BUSINESS!!! Decided to check this place out for the first time on my way to the lake. The redheaded cashier "Bobbie" reviewed my driver's license for alcohol for almost 2 straight minutes before looking at me and demanding a 2nd form of ID WITH a date of birth on it. I AM 28 YEARS OLD with a valid, up to date, and perfect condition license. What exactly would my second form of ID with a birth date on it be!? She was very rude and condescending, VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! Felt very discriminated against because I WAS NOT WHITE! I was astonished by how confrontation the cashier was. I DO NOT recommend ANYONE visit this store! It is unprofessional and unethical the way customers are treated! Management needs to retrain cashiers or replace them if they cannot provide a decent level of customer service to the public!
