We got a kitten from there 3 years ago and he is the best. We give dog and cat food every year that we can. They need support just as much as humans do. They get sick with cancer, flu, and other things too. We donate to St. Jude’s, Our local police and our volunteer fire, ambulance service.I think grabbing a 25 pound sack of dog food or cat food and donating it to your favorite animal shelter isn’t much, but for them it is great.Please step up and feel good inside that you helped.

We went there to help out by fostering a dog for this cold weather, three days later we adopted Odett. We changed her name to Tiffany and she loves her name. Tiffany is great with are two miniature Yorkies. We fell in love with her. Thank you so much Caras house.

Excellent experience! This place has it all together ❤️ I had no idea Louisiana has a majority of kill shelters 😢 a little girl was in need of assistance and they opened up their hearts to help a little pup in desperate need! Animals are Family!!! When she was struck by a car and left in the middle of the road these ladies gave this out of towner a grateful heart for the service they provide and baby girl hope for a life she is truly deserving of! I can't thank them enough.

We adopted our 2nd cat from Clara’s House. She is also a brown tabby. She is so wild that she tore me up the first day, I spent 4 1/2 hours in the ER. I got asked the same question I think about 100 times, are you going to keep her? Every time I said yes, it wasn’t her fault. It has been a month now and she still won’t let us pet or cuddle her. We are on Bella’s time. ❤️

These folks take great care of the animals in their shelter.Sadly some have been there a very long time.I enjoy fostering a dog from them very much and encourage others to do the same.Very rewarding to give them a break from the kennel.Even if it is only for a short visit!You may find your new best friend and companion.

We found our perfect match at Cara's house. Everyone there is super helpful and knows their animals. I had specific qualities I was looking for and they were able to help me find the perfect match for my family. You can definitely tell everyone cares about their animals which is amazing. They aren't just trying to give away animals they want to find them good home. Thank you so much!

I Had to kittens from a feral cat show up at my house.. I brought them to Kara's house thinking they were a new kill shelter after I dropped them off. My son decided he would take them. I'm turned around. I wasn't gone but two minutes and asked for them back and they told me I could have them back.. I cried all the way home and all the way there. I was hopeful that my son would be able to take them as he was going to.. After I dropped them off and went back they were so rude and told me they were already in the system and he could only Foster Them.. With that sad the attitudes was terrible the people did not look professional or experienced. Do facility the minute you step out of your door smelled horrible when I walked inside it was nothing But noise from other animals.. I have never been into an animal shelter that was so nasty in filthy and my entire life.. Please whatever you do avoid this plac At all costs. I truly believe now that any wild animal are Pharrell animal is better off in the wild are on the streets then at this place.. And to top all this off I asked them if they were a no kill shelter and they said they were until I went to the website and it said they do.. These people need to be looked into the facility is run down.Someone needs to come in and shut this place down I will make it My goal to have the state investigate this facility..

Just called up there for information for my elderly mothers four chihuahuas. And the lady on the other end was SOOOO COLD! this is supposed to be a rescue place. A place somewheres. Somebody can call and feel comfortable with leaving their animals. How would anyone ever feel comfortable leaving their animal with somebody on the other end of the line being so cold! And just sends you to a website!I WONDER HOW YOU TREAT ANIMALS IF YOU TREAT A CALLER ON THE OTHER END OF THE PHONE IN THIS WAY.

One of my dogs has a bad habit of escaping our back yard to explore the neighborhood, he was picked up and brought to caras house and they loved him... I got my 2 cats from them and one of my other dogs as well... they are awesome!

I’ve fostered two dogs from this shelter. When I’ve had to come back to the shelter for meds or checkups the fosters act VERY HAPPY to be back in the facility. It is evident they know they were loved there! They would run up to the workers with their tails wagging!They have amazing/animal loving/HARD WORKING staff!!!!

I've heard plenty of bad reviews about them but never had a problem with this place until i experienced it for myself. Nasty attitudes. & please don't even try to bring any animals to them, they will tell you bring it somewhere else and won't even give you any help as to where to take them.

Staff is very well organized and know what they are doing...we went to adapt our fur baby today. Came home with a awesome dog named Judge. He is a little ancy. But the staff there was great with him. Very patient with him no matter what was happening or going on. Overall great place and they really care for their animals

Found a dog in baton rouge and they took it and found a home for it. It's a no kill shelter with people who love animals. Good job Caras. Finally found people who care. This is a great place to send donations or food. Honest hard working people who live the animal they care for.

My dog was located by way of his microchip. I was contacted and advised to contact Cara's House. Some evil person had painted my dog random colors. I could not immediately come due to winter storm and road closures. The staff held and cared for him so wonderfully. Upon arrival I was greeted and welcomed. My reclaim process was quick and easy. The only issue was locating the place and parking. GPS sent me past the location. Otherwise a positive experience and happy reunion.

I adopted Maggie, an American Bulldog/Boxer mix, back in March 2020. She's been an amazing addition to our family! The only complaint I have is that I was told by Cara's house and Pet Star Animal Hospital that she was 1 and a half years old and would get no larger than 40 lbs. Well, 2 months later, in June, she was 55 lbs and grew a lot in length and width, so I took her to my vet. They told me that Maggie was roughly 9 months old when I rescued her from Cara's House and that they estimated her birthday to be around June 1, 2019. Maggie is now 60+ lbs, however, even though I wanted and thought I was getting a medium sized dog, I love Maggie to death and she's now my baby!!

Great group of people.Working in the garden center at Lowe's from time to time we find kittens and mama cats that have found a empty box to start their family. They have been graces and loving everyone we needed their help.

Cara’s is a NO KILL NON PROFIT shelter! Please Donate what you can so Cara’s can take in more babies who need in. We adopted our Dew (aka Tank) from Cara’s House when he was 6 months old, he will be 5 this June. Cara’s is more than a shelter, Cara’s is a Caring Loving temporary home for all the fur babies on their way to a forever home. Cara’s should take pride in their vetting process for forever homes. They actually CARE about where the fur babies end up and I personally LOVE this, among so many other awesome qualities Cara’s have.

Most of the staff is extremely rude... The animals are being kept in kennels outside and are filthy and looked poorly taken care of. It's a depressing place if you love animals. Please go adopt them if you can and give them good homes so they aren't stuck under horrible conditions! Or foster if you can do that! Help these poor animals!

They truly try to help every pet they can. I just wish they wouldn’t turn away some animals. But I understand that every facility doesn’t have the funds to assist every pet that walks into the door. If you’re reading this review, please donate dog & cat food & any other supplies that they need. Money is also helpful for donations. They more funds they have, the more animals they can help!

The absolute most caring staff ever! I was out of town when my rottweiler got out. The police were called and the brought him here. He stayed a week and they only charged me $50. That is nothing when they gave him shots and fed his big self for a week!!

Buisness ethics of this place is poor.Came in to find a small dog.Was informed that the only one they had. Would be available on the following buisness day .I arrive promptly in the morning .Am told it was shipped to an animal rescue.When is oral contract not binding?When dealing with Cara,s house....Still looking for a little one.2 weeks later.Shame full they sell out of town when there is a shortage in our own parish.I was supposed too hear from their board of directors about this. It didn't happen.

I had a stray dog dumped on me by a coworker. The dog was a total sweetheart but I couldn't keep her because of housing. Had her for a day. Anyways, I brought her to caras house, it kind of sucks that their stray fee is $10 because we are really hurting for money, but I know it's to help the animals. Overall, nice staff, and it's for a good cause.

Well they weren't the nicest people to deal with. I had been up 36 hours taking care of my dog after a dog attacked her. I had been crying for hours & was exhausted. Then to go through the gut wrenching process of surrendering puppies..puppies I had almost their whole lives..you'd think they'd show a little compassion instead of looking & talking down to someone. I could feel their judgement in how they spoke to me..it was an all around awful experience...HOWEVER they found either foster homes, other rescues, or adoptions for ALL of the pups. SO THAT IS WHAT REALLY MATTERS & THAT'S WHY I GAVE THEM 5 STARS.

1/2 my pets came from here. Need I say more? Okay, I will!There are so many animals there needing that special someone or family to just come find them and take them home. They are a ared, lonely and need more love and individual attention than the caring volunteers can give. This is a no kill shelter.

We found a pup running around on Airline Highway. We found Cara’s House after a quick search on Google. After calling them, we found out they saw the same little guy and were about to head out to grab him. They took him in without any hassles.

Stopped by after hearing about their pet adoptions, looking for a cat in the future. Lots of cats and dogs there so no shortage of candidates. Be prepared for the smell of cats and dogs. Not really much you can do about it just be prepared. Really friendly staff and the animals al seam friendly.
