Would not recommend. First time, our doodle was groomed too short. The next time, we brought in photos and they did a good job. Then the next is our last time. I called to make sure that I could bring in our dog to get groomed and was told that will be fine. I guess it really wasn't though. (They should have asked how big our dog is.) I got a call that they were closing at 5:00 and that I had to be there by 4:30 to get our dog. I showed up at 4:30. After 5:00, she was still working on our dog and the person at the register was very frustrated that they could not leave. Once we got our dog and brought her home, she had SEVERAL nicks that had developed into bloody knotted fur.They are affordable but I will not put our dog through this again. (And as others mentioned, there is a strong odor in this store.)

I bring my pet son, Colbi here. They are very affordable but I've just heard that they were closed down a few years back for abuse. I was told that it is still under the same management as well. I do not like the upkeep of the back after seeing how they are kept in those black cages. I do not cage him at home so that was new to me. The space was so small. After hearing about the abuse thing I don't think we'll be bringing him back. I did post him after his last cut. He was very knotted so they had to cut him down really low

We have used St. Tammany Pet Center for our pets' grooming needs for over 10 years now. Staff is wonderful with our beloved 4 legged fur family members. The price is reasonable and the staff is THE BEST!🐕🐢🦀🐱🐍🐦🐠🐀🐌🐩🐸🐈🐟

Very not good with birds. Thought this little sweetheart of a cockatiel was mean, just was terrified. Sweet in like 2 minutes flat. Very dirty, bird put in fish tank with bugs crawling around in it

Had the fish I ordered in days. Other stores either never heard of them, or said their vendor was out of stock. Should point out I wasn't asking for anything terribly expensive or fragile. Thanks for helping me bring a new species into our town.

I have been going to this place for about a year and yesterday they really disappointed me. I went on the weekend.My cat was chopped up so bad she looked like a child was trying to shave her, and the sad part about it is NO ONE said anything to me about it, I called and spoke with the man that I usually deal with and he told me to bring my cat back and I did. Another person took care of the mess and I was very satisfied. I dont think the people in the front know what the workers in the back really do, when it is brought to their attention they have showed me that they will rectify the issue. I am satisfied,didnt like the fact that I had to go back but Im glad it was resolved.

Got my dog groomed Not happy with the results and the service I received the man is kinda rude… I don’t know why but the place smells awful if I walk in any other pet store it wouldnt smell like a zoo girl when I first walked in I couldn’t breathe it smacked me directly in my face in my nose that store needs help and I will not be returning

The price is right, and my dog seems like she was treated good, when groomed, never scared when I pick her up. The owner and groomers, seem very nice and down to earth. I been going here for 20 years. My little dog is like grooming a worm, and they manage to do a good job.

First time in the store and unfortunately will be the last. The smell was bad when you first walked in, it hit you like a ton of bricks. Fish tanks were nasty, poor fish and the reptiles conditions were very poor as well. Also the store is way to congested. Definitely NOT handicapped friendly. To many other good locations to go to, would not reccomend this store! Sorry

I read the reviews and see the 1 stars for the place being dirty. The building is almost 40yrs old. Run down a bit, yes, but what do you expect? My family and I have been customers of Ray's place for years and have always been pleased with the grooming. They cut my dog one time and let us know as soon as we picked him up. We have never had an issue with the staff. Keep up the good job, folks.

The guy behind the desk was nice and easy to deal with. They did a good job grooming my dog as well.The place wasn't the best smelling or really nice but it's an old building that is a pet store. I had a good experience and plan on going back again.

Today I found a dead rat that was being eaten alive by other rats in the cage. Do you bunnies have no hay and no space to play in. There is one bird there that is in a very small cage and has been there for a VERY long time. I highly recommend not trusting these people with your beloved pets. Very unsanitary. Andabusive towards animals. I found bugs in the food and bugs in the hamsters and rats cages There were dead fish in almost every tankAnd many people that can’t do their bag or in the rabbits cages. They once told me not to tap on the fish tanks that it will scare them but they will not tell people not to bang on a rabbits cage. Do your research before starting a business please. Never come here.

Very friendly and family oriented! We always go in asking questions and they are always taking time out to help us with what we need and give us advice! They are very helpful with the type of food your dog or cat should be eating and were so kind to give different varieties of samples to see which one our dogs liked before we actually bought.

THEY GAVE MY DOG FLEAS!! I went there for price, but definitely got what I paid for. I got my dog groomed and the cut was satisfactory, but he did not smell like he got a bath at all. The next day we noticed red dots covering his belly area.... and then I spent the next 2 months getting rid of the fleas that they gave us.

Mr. Ray, Mr. Ray!Thank you for being so prompt! I own a bearded dragon and she likes crickets, ALOT! He was sold out of crickets when I got there, and I was telling Mr. Ray about the experience I’ve had getting them, I don’t want them from the bait, as they aren’t gut loaded and other local shops are always sold out or not replenishing. Mr. Ray literally got on the phone while I was there and order a shipment, let me know when they arrived, also told me he doesn’t order on the weekends bc he wants to have the best quality during the shipping process. I also shopped around and bought other unique things for my beardie Luna as it’s hard to find things for beardies. Bearded dragons have a lot of personality and if you own one, they become your baby..❤️A week later…I return to Mr. Ray and Saint Tammany pet store(crickets have been there, it didn’t take this long) as my schedule permits and I got 80 crickets for my baby Luna and the price was enough To keep me going there but He also gave me advice on how I should persevere them, store etc. I will be going to Mr. Ray from now on. He’s personable, gives advice when you have questions and made me feel welcomed.I also believe in supporting local businesses.Thank you Mr. Ray

How is this place even open? They clearly do not take proper care of the animals. Not to mention 3 Adult rabbits in an extremely small cage that shouldn’t even house 1. They clearly do not value the lives of the animals in their shop. Definitely wouldn’t trust bringing myOwn pet there. Beyond disappointed.

Absolutely filthy inside the store. Aquariums are filthy. We will never step foot in this place again. They should not be in business. They do a horrible job caring for luveing creatures. Absolutely shameful. Wish I could give 0 stars. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Honestly I couldn’t stay in there for very long because of how devastating the conditions of the animals were. The tanks for the rodents were cracked and broken, unused cages were covered in spider webs and dirt. The animals looked filthy and sick, there were multiple hamsters (solitary creatures) in a tiny tank with a brand new litter of baby hamsters... the gerbils were desperate to escape, I couldn’t even look at all the fish tanks because I feared seeing dead fish. So so so sad. I’ve never seen a pet store with such filthy conditions.

It’s very run down. I’m not sure if it was the doing of COVID or it’s just negligence. It’s so dusty and the snake didn’t even have a light. It’s a breeding ground for metabolic bone disease and the way all the animals are all cooped together, much worse.Edit: forgot to mention the fish tanks - how are these fish alive. It’s horrible.

Awful experience. My cat will no longer go in a pet carrier due to St Tammany Pet Center. She is terrified of it. We went for a nail trim, and they decided to do it in a room with several barking and free roaming dogs. They said it was my fault because "I didn't tell them she didn't like dogs". Use some common sense people. I will NEVER bring her back in that building.

Mixed bag here. The pets are in good shape, nice and healthy! And they have a good selection, not the same ole-same ole. However many of the products and supplies are old and out of date.

If I could give a zero star rating I would St. Tammany Pet did a terrible Job Grooming my 10 week old Standard poodle. My poodle smelled like he had never been bathed. They did a hack job one his fur. Also Upon picking up my dog I noticed he had cat hair all over him. The place is very unsanitary. I will not be taking my pet back there for fear he might catch fleas or get sick. Buyer Beware!

I would suggest that they take the saltwater system down. The tanks are so scratched up it is almost impossible to see in them and when you can, it just algae. It has to cost more in electricity and salt to keep the system up, than they could ever sell. I do get that the cost to new tanks is very expensive, so use that area for something else.
