Amazing local spot with all types of treats (to eat and play with) for your your furry friends. Clothing section was absolutely amazing. Cookies appeared to be good enough for human consumption. Lovely establishment with friendly staff

I had two great experiences here this week. First, my dog came here for a bath(his the 1st time) & had the best experience. Then, I came in for a halloween costume for him a few days later & the associate was so helpful. I will be back for bathes & treats!

Brought my cat to get a lion cut, even showed them a picture of exactly what I wanted and explained he has a hard time cleaning his back and under side because he's a munchkin cat.When I picked him up, it looked like they'd barely cut any of his hair and had just shaved a little off his back (which is something I can do myself easily and already do). Not really something I wanted to pay over $100 for with a tip. I reached out to them about it and sent before and after pics and they said they'd refund me, but then ghosted me after I've followed up a couple of times. So, still not resolved.Also when I called to confirm my appt and make sure they got my vet records, the guy I spoke with had me on hold forever and finally picked back up saying he didn't know where they got vet records and I explained I emailed them and he said he was really busy and new and didn't know. I said ok I'll just try back later when someone else is there and he kinda scoffed at me lol I was like ok....Unrelated but also while I was there they were cleaning out a case full of molded dog treats someone had pointed out to them.However, one of the girls who works there was very lovely while we were there. Extremely loving to my cat and sweet. I wish I had better things to say.

Brought my rescue shih tzu here for his first ever groom session. I was nervous because Ive heard a bunch of grooming horror stories (not about petcetera but still lol) When I walked in I was greeted by all the employees & I actually felt welcomed. Went to the back to meet the groomer & he was very nice and asked questions which made me feel comfortable leaving Nugget in his care. I was told it'd be about two hrs and two hrs on the dot I recieved a text that Nugget was ready for pick up. He looked so handsome! His haircut was exactly what I wanted and I could tell he was treated well! I highly recommend Leonard for all ur grooming needs!

This place is awesome. We bought 2 collars that were so cute for our puppy. She grew out of them pretty quick but they were great quality. We were looking around here in Houston everywhere. We kept saying we need to go back to New Orleans just to get a collar. Well we found the website and got her a new collar. She knew something was in the box that I wasn’t paying attention to. She went nuts over the treats. Thank you so much!!

Too small. It's really hard to navigate the store. Staff was not knowledgeable about growing and how I can get that done for my puppies... I guess the girl turned around to ask the owner or manager and he was rude. We will shop elsewhere and get the grooming done as well

I was there on May 26th around 12-1PM. My experience was awful, much like a lot of Black or people of color often face. I went in there, was greeted, and proceed to shop around. The two cashiers an older white woman and a white man we’re handling stuff being the register. Three white women were shopping around. As I began to pick up stuff I felt someone following me. Every turn I made, they made a turn. As I progressed towards the front door where more of the items I wanted were, the white man followed me there. I looked to my side to see if he was doing anything or just trailing me. He was pretending to stock items. Nothing on the shelf was empty. Nothing needed rearranging. It’s funny - he would pick up something just to put it back making it look like he was actually doing anything. As I left the front area by the door, so did he. It wasn’t until I paid that I felt like I wasn’t on surveillance. What is awful is the three white women across the store weren’t followed, had items in their hand like I did, but I was seen as a threat. Unacceptable. Last time I ever go back there. Wasn’t worth being racially profiled.

Went in and picked out a few things, then heard the owner being EXTREMELY condescending to an elderly female employee. Speaking to her like she was some piece of trash. My girlfriend and I were highly offended by his DISGUSTING behavior, I Told him he would make more sales if he treats his employees better and slammed his door on the way out, I genuinely hope it broke.

The groomer did a fabulous job and my dog left the shop so happy. I can tell that they treat my dog well when I’m not there. For the first time my dog loves her groomer! Thank you!

It was my cat’s first time getting professionally groomed! Lanier was her groomer and she was fantastic!! I can’t say enough amazing things about Lanise’s professionalism, talent and demeanor.My cat was so happy with her and is now at home swishing her tail (happy mood) and prancing around. She got a wash, trim and nail trim. The shop is also well stocked with everything from collars to costumes to grooming tools.I called sooooo many groomers in New Orleans and either got excuses as to why they couldn’t book her or just flat out said “No”.Which caused so much stress and time spent researching, calling and emailing businesses.I will definitely be back and will continue to book with Lanise! Thank you again!

I ordered the grain free birthday cake and all the pups absolutely LOVED it! Not only was the cake super cute, but when I cut into it it was soft, moist & it made me feel like I had never wanted a piece of cake so badly in my life! I will definitely be ordering my doggie cakes from there for the rest of time.

I am a Mississippi resident and I have been using Petcetera for a little over 3 years now, I have two dogs. I drive an hour and 15 minutes there every month to have my dogs groomed, by the same groomer. you say caused harm to your dog. (Miss. Emily) I have NEVER had ONE BAD EXPERIENCE with any of their employees I'VE used Emily for 3 years and I won't take my dogs anywhere else. they take very good care of their customers dogs AND cats. mine and the other customers that I have witnessed as I was in their store, dropping off or picking up my two babies. When picking up my babies they always look amazing. Miss Emily does a wonderful job. she always puts the cutest little bows and bandanas on them. I'm sorry for what happened to your baby but there has to be something more to your story I'm a veterinarian assistant and PULMONARY EDEMA is an abnormal amount of fluid in the lung tissue, Airways, or air sac, this condition can usually be life threatening, (CAUSES) are underlying conditions such as sepsis, cancer, chronic heart disease, swallowing small object that gets stuck in Airways are lungs, can cause blood clots that will cause a dog to vomit blood,poor diet high in sodium, and obesity... I just don't believe this woman intentionally hurt your dog..........To anyone reading this review, about Petcetera and employee Emily all my experiences have been wonderful at Petcetera and I will continue going there and being a loyal customer to the owner and miss Emily as my groomer over 3 years and I've never had a problem

Stacy is my dog's groomer and she does such a great job with my dog. She is super patient with her and she always goes the extra mile in her grooming. I haven't done much shopping in the store but everyone is always so nice when I bring in my dog and we are always in and out really quick.

Don’t bother to make an appointment—been here a few times and they didn’t even start grooming my cat until 1.5 hours after his appointment. Their groomers have poor technique—his mane and back look like a 10 year old with a lawn mower groomed him. For $85 plus tip for a cat haircut, you should get so much more. Go anywhere else in New Orleans.

Nice selection of dog and cat goodies. There's a groomer, too (getting dog nails trimmed costs $25 and can be done on a walk-in basis). They have a loyalty program, where purchases give you points and when you accumulate a certain amount, you get $5 off.

We used to be customers.We brought our dogs in for groomings, but their dog food, even bought t-shirts for ourselves and sweaters for the small dogs...But somehow we were never treated like valued customers. We aren't transient tourists, we spent a lot of money in there over the years.No loyalty program for the dog food like most other stores, and just not what we had hoped it would be, especially after spending so much time and money there.

I brought my Standard Poodle to Petcetera at 3205 Magazine St. New Orleans, LA 70115 on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 11:50 am for a full service groom, with instructions to give him a 1/2 inch shave. I was told that it would take several hours so I left, and waited for the store to call to say that my dog was ready. That never happened. The store advertises that it closes at 6pm on Saturdays. When I hadn’t heard any news on the status of my dog at 5:30pm, I decided to drive to the store to wait for him. When I arrived at 5:39 the front door was locked, with a sign on it stating “We will be back in 20 minutes. Grooming customers, please call 269-8711”. I called the number twice(which is the main line to the store), and it went straight to voicemail each time. I then banged on the glass of the front door and windows incessantly until someone from the back came to let me in. She informed me that they were understaffed and that she was working 20 minute intervals of grooming and manning the cash register in the retail part of the store. And “oh, the owner lives upstairs, so it wasn’t a big deal that the door was locked with my dog behind it. This is all wrong on so many levels. My dog was confined to the back area or the store for 6 hours because staff overbooked appointments. His hair was carelessly shaved to the skin, very unevenly leaving bald spots all over my beautiful dog. I paid the $70.00 charge in cash and left the gratuity of 15 dollars that was requested at the register before I even saw my dog. When my dog was brought to me, he was shaved down very close to his skin with bald patches all over him. I was horrified, and I still was 2 days later. I specifically requested a 1/2 inch cut. If there was a reason that it could not have been done, I should have been called and notified. “Renee J,” the person who ‘groomed’ my dog said that she was in a hurry and did not have time to brush out any of his fur, so she shaved it off. She made the decision to do this without consulting me and she did it in such a horrible way that it is quite honestly unforgivable.I had gotten my dog groomed here on 2 previous occasions and had more than a satisfactory experience both times. For that reason I did not think to look at Yelp reviews until I went there to post my own last Sunday morning. I was dumbfounded to read several reviews similar to mine, which is further evidence that there is a seriously unacceptable problem with their grooming department that MUST be addressed . You cannot claim to be an animal lover or an animal friendly business while treating my dog and others with such routine disregard and with no consequences. It is blatant disrespect to the animals and to their humans who entrust them in the care of the people at this business. That will never happen again with me or anyone that I even loosely know. They should be prohibited from offering grooming services until they have reliable (licensed) groomers and accept accountability. My dog also had a bad rash and razor burn that took 2 weeks of topical treatment to cure. The vet says this was most likely from using dirty instruments on my dog. The owner called me the following Monday and claimed to have pneumonia. She sounded sick, but said she would get back to me about this situation when she felt better and would offer me either a refund or a “goody bag” for my dog. None of this has happened. I’ve not heard a word from her and it is now March 3, 2019. DO NOT USE this place, and please see their reviews on yelp. It may save the life of your pet.

If I could go lower I would! My puppy Shih tzu was left practically dead after a grooming session from this place. My 4 month old puppy left my house early in the morning full of energy running playing. We get in the car and bring her to Petcetera for a grooming. She runs in the store greets everyone as a normal puppy (tail waving, licking, rolling on her back, etc) They take her to the back for grooming and we return in an hour. She is carried out to us basically limp as if she is sleep. They tell us she may be a little sleepy. We get her home and she can barely walk stand or anything. We call them back to see if they gave her something so they could groom her, and they say no we didn't she was good. 1st red flag of negligence a 6 month old puppy was GOOD during a grooming session? This was her 1st full cut mind you. She doesn't want water all she wants to do is lay down and be left alone (THIS DOG NEVER LAYS DOWN AND NEVER WANTS TO BE LEFT ALONE). After 30-40 minutes she is coughing up blood and froth. Rush her to hospital and she has fluid in her lungs from being what we believe strangled/choked (Non Cardiogenic Pulmonary Edema)! She needed to be put on oxygen for 2 days and now they refuse to even reimburse us for this, which adds insult to injury. I WILL NEVER USE THIS PLACE FOR ANYTHING AND WE WILL TAKE FURTHER ACTION

I've shopped at Petcetera since its inception. I have always hada Shih Tzu and an English Mastiff in my home, so buying for my mastiffcan get pretty tricky. I just bought Mardi Gras collars for both of my dogsto match and I'm ordering another for a friend tonight. They are super strong and last their entire lifetimes. Diane Lundeen, you ROCK!!!

Walked in just to look and saw a lady bathing a golden doodle. He was playing in the bath and she was yellling at him- then she grabbed him by the neck and yanked his head around. Would absolutely not want my pet abused like this after leaving him in their care.

Employees recently started calling them out via the whistleblower act. (gag order clauses in contracts force them not to talk bad about the company).Among the reports are: Feeding animals once a week to save money, not treating / isolating sick animals, and fraud (MANY reports of 3 day check-ups consisting of animals sitting in a kennel with a bowl of food/water until they are picked up).Do not trust this company. There is a reason they are mass firing and suing employees right now.
