Just walking in the building puts a smile on my face, every time. I'm probably leaving with art supplies and the pups leaving with a bag of mixed treats like it was damn Halloween. Definitely a great selection of both the aforementioned products and they're tendered with smile from any one of the nice people working. Can't recommend it enough.

What a great little place! We had to drop off some luggage between debarkation and our hotel being ready, and this was the perfect spot! It's a great old building. And within walking distance of so much, if that's what you're doing. Plus a variety of dog goods if you're shopping for your little friends. The lady there went above and beyond helping us in the morning and was very understanding. She gave us advice and recommendations. Again, I can't recommend it enough.

When I first moved to town I was chronically homeless and I lived in my vehicle for 6 months before I was able to get indoors somewhere. I currently work full-time, 35 hours a week, and I'm going to graduate school going to class online for my Masters in Social Work. I make a fair paycheck but after rent, insurance, utilities, trash, water, internet, phone bills, a few groceries here and there, gas twice a month in my vehicle, and everything else in between I definitely don't have money left over each pay period let alone a savings account. The Bark Market has always been kind to us and helped us out. They are well known in town for their free dog food policy for the pups. Sometimes they make conversation, sometimes they hang out with the dogs, sometimes they ask how we're doing and ask genuine questions and sometimes they're just in a rush to get you in and out of there but no matter what I'm always grateful. Once I moved indoors across town I didn't need their services as often and I probably gone to the store less than seven times in my entire life. I know that sounds like a lot in terms of free food but I tried to buy it whenever I can. Last week Bobby had an accident and had to go to the vet and after paying her exam fee, her for her x-rays, and for her blood work labs I wasn't able to afford groceries this week nor much of anything else. It just so happens she ran out of food this week and I tried stopping by the New Orleans healing Center for food like I was instructed from the bark market but every time I go in there the place is empty.I came in today and the owner was pumping her drawer which I understand is a frustrating time to get another client for the day but I look past her irritated demeanor and asked if they had any dog food available by chance and was met with a sigh that racked her whole body and an eye roll. She then stated answered my question with of course you're looking for free dog food. And then she stated if anyone else is coming in for free dog food I wish they'd let me know now so I don't have to walk back here again and proceeded to walk to the back of the store. Upon her return she handed me a box of food on my bright, white, black, and red Jordan sneakers. She said wow, those look like some really nice sneakers you got there. And I thanked her, sincerely because I didn't realize what was happening at the time, and said thank you! I found them for $30 at Buffalo exchange. If anyone is familiar with Buffalo exchange It is a local second hand store where people bring name brand clothes. The whole point of it is that the clothes are normally expensive and our resold for affordable prices to people who otherwise couldn't purchased them brand new. I dealt with a lot of negative comments and Snyder marks during the past 9 years that I've been homeless off and on but never something like this. I've heard of people being discriminated against for their clothes or their sneakers but I didn't happen to me and I definitely didn't think it would happen at this local store that I had so much respect for and looked up to. I've had people make comments on why I have so many tattoos and how they could have must have cost thousands and thousands of dollars without taking into consideration that I am able to do them myself and at one point in time I had my own machine as well as a boyfriend who is a tattoo artist but this situation was nothing like that. If I thought I had to look homeless in order to get help from this woman or to try to convince her of my need I sure wouldn't have worn a pair of name brand sneakers to her shop. As I took my box of sample dog food that will be gone in 3 days due to having an older Siberian Husky and a cat with a bottomless picture of a stomach and found my front seat of my car windows started flowing. I don't think I have in me to come into this store and face this woman again and I would rather go back p panhandling and the uncertainty that it brings then to deal with this condescending woman and a judgment that she passed on me.

In the vibrant landscape of New Orleans, nestled comfortably, is a veritable haven for our canine companions: the Nola Bark Market. A playground for the city's cherished pets, it's a lively ballet of wagging tails and joyous barks. Among these contented patrons is Lucille, a spirited French Bulldog, who navigates this world with an enviable zeal. The truest testament to Lucille's love for Nola Bark Market is her vivacious engagement with the obstacle course ramp. Here, Lucille is more than just a spectator; she's an enthusiastic participant. Her sparkling eyes reflect determination, her stout little body pulsates with a fervor that only a challenge brings.Every approach to the obstacle course ramp is like a new chapter in Lucille's thrilling adventure. With her focused gaze and perked ears, she studies each hurdle, translating them into exciting challenges. And then, with a zest comparable to the city's vibrant Mardi Gras, she propels herself into action.Watching Lucille conquer the ramp, gracefully leaping over obstacles, weaving through posts, and finally reaching the summit with victorious aplomb, is an uplifting spectacle. Her joy is not merely in the completion but in the journey, much like New Orleans' own saga of resilience and joy.In the heart of the Crescent City, Nola Bark Market stands as a beacon of joy for our furry friends. It isn't merely a store, but a home away from home for pets like Lucille. Its vibrant energy, caring staff, and exciting activities mirror the city's spirit of hospitality, making every visit a delightful experience for both pets and their owners.

Called up to get pricing. Apparently I spoke with a owner. Who refused to give pricing , attitude out this world. Cut me off EVERYTIME I went to speak. As I’m speaking puts me on hold. Then hangs up. I call to ask who I’m speaking with of course it’s the owner - they say. How can you treat someone like that over the phone but expect them to come buy from your business? Can’t even make a actual complaint because the OWNER is the one doing it.

Bark Market always has a good selection of pet products, esp treats! We've bought a variety of doggie items like leashes, bandannas, treats, dental care, etc. All quality products and prices are comparable. Customer service has always been top notch!

this business would be far more successful with a different owner. Depending on her mood she can be helpful or a complete nightmare to deal with. Totally rude, condescending and inflexible most of the time. Stressed out people that regularly lash out shouldn’t have jobs where they deal with customers .She’s a regular topic at dog parks bc so many people have had issues with her. It’s too bad, it’s a great idea and perfect location but she looses a lot of business because of how she treats people.

I love this pet/art store; easy access, comfortable atmosphere, and they carry unique brands on both sides of the market so I can't help but peruse both. <3 I'm happy I get to support what they do for our communities! :)

Biked here to get an exacto knife for an art installation. Upon arriving, I remembered I'd forgotten my bike lock at home 1.5 miles away.Brought the bike inside and was met by stiff-lipped clerk repetitively (3x) reminding me there was a bike rack outside, that there was a sign on the door forbidding bikes, that there was inadequate space inside for a bike.I looked around the massive warehouse, not a customer in sight. "Well, I don't have a lock on me," I replied."Well you should get one," she fumed, turning her back on me and stomping off.I walked out. If a business cannot afford the bare minimum of kindness, they certainly don't deserve to be a part of any community, especially ones they're displacing.

I have been to several pet stores since we moved to New Orleans, but this one is the BEST! They have a large selection of items. Their staff is incredibly kind and helpful. AND, last but not lease, their prices are reasonable. Since this place is set up like a boutique, I was expecting their prices to be outrageous and that simply was not the case. You should definitely give these guys a try!

A little over priced but if you are a member you get discounts. it looks like a cute mom and pop shop with a lot of flare. The doggie treat section had such a nice variety.

i want to like this place so badly since i live only a few blocks away but i only go here out of pure convenience. the staff there are SO rude, condescending and critical. i just rescued a new pup and brought her in to get a harness and the folks working there told me what the vet had recommend was wrong and my dog would only live a few years if i didn’t listen to them?? super strange and honestly made me anxious. i spend so much money here for both my pets and have also been told that there’s a 20 dollar card minimum??? which makes no sense?? really great variety of pet items but prepare yourself for a whirlwind of emotions with the staff.

This store is part pet store, part art supply. They carry the food my cats eat, and have definitely came in clutch for last minute craft supplies as well. The staff is all friendly and knowledgeable without being overbearing. I do think this is a really special store and I'm glad they exist.

NOLA Bark Market is profoundly generous during this pandemic. They are giving me free dry cat food for my cats, and it is extremely high quality, for free. I had never been there before but will be a new customer for life. The only downside is my cats love the food so Purina is out... but ten stars for being amazing to neighbors and their beloved animals during extremely hard times. Thank you so much!

Art and dogs! What a concept! I support this locally owned store and have been coming here for many years. It is a unique experience and near my house. There is doggy day care in back, a yard included, and I know that's helpful to many. I Iike the combination of art supplies and dog toys, my dog and I shop together and have a very fun time. She picks out the toys she wants. There's a good variety of both art and dog - with frozen beef bones and toy balls small enough for little mouths like Frenchies and such. Informed art store attendants who are artists themselves offer tips, sometimes there are art classes in back if of the store. It's open til seven, so that's a plus for those who can't get there before 5. on the nega side, some of the free dog food has been out of date... But on the plus side, the Bark Mart will usually take back a toy broken within 24 hours.

Honestly I've been going here for years out of sheer convenience but one of the women who works here, I think she is the manager, is extremely rude. I am a trans woman and she always stares at me and has commented negatively on my appearance / how I choose to dress. I would never step foot in this elitist pet store if I didn't live in the neighborhood.

One of the best perks about the Bywater is this place! They have a MASSIVE selection for all my dogs and cat’s needs. The owner is super knowledgeable and has helped me navigate all issues that have come about, from thunder nervousness to food allergies.I have found that Bark M is a neighborhood stronghold. They help us find homes for rescued animals, help spread the word to find the owners of loose dogs. They bend over backwards for each and every animal. They are amazing. And now they have a in-house Vet!!!!!Spend your money locally when possible 💜

I honestly would have loved to give this place a 5 star review for the lovely product selection and easy to access location for our walks with our dog. However when my husband and I came in today, the woman that was "helping" us shop, did nothing of the sort. This employee did nothing but hover, turn up her nose at our product selection, and give a pretentious diatribe for every item and rolling her eyes while repeating endlessly the grating, condescending phrases "aaaactually you should be doing this" "you want to get that? No, that's wrong. Go get the other one."If I had any other option for the items I required this morning I never would have stayed. To the employee in question: my husband and I are adults, just like you. We came in with our young puppy and a positive attitude, greeted you both and asked your opinions on products. But you couldn't see anything beyond an opportunity to prove how much more you knew about dogs than us poor dumb hicks. So here's the recognition you wanted. Going to this store was easily my worst moment of my Honeymoon. And I went down Bourbon St. last night.

I go for the art (they have the best Glaze selection in Louisiana—including the alligator clay company shop in Baton Rouge). Then I love that I get to browse a great selection of pet toys on my way out! Love this place

The folks at NOLA Bark Market are so sweet and helpful! We rescued a stray, and they helped us find everything we needed for him, including reccomending a good vet! We got the best supplements for his aching old man joints and everything! Thank you SO MUCH! Tomorrow, after shots and tags, we'll walk him over because they offered to double check his harness adjustments. 10/10 would recommend 🐶❤

My go-to place for my dog and cats. I always get good advice on nutrition and other issues. Plus, the accessories are great! Additionally, I can pick up things for my water colour painting hobby any time I want!!!

Friendly staff and great daycare. Our pup has some separation anxiety he's working through and he loves going here. We've tried some of the dog daycare chains and he HATED being dropped off, but not at Bark Market. We live close by and sometimes on evening walks he will run up to the door and sit down, even though they're not even open! Also good selection of higher end pet supplies.
