Brenda is the Beess Knees and the Cats Pajamas all at the same time. She has such a big heart and will help anyone to her fullest extent. In a city full of overpriced veterinary care, it's essential to have a spot actually here for the animals. It's people like her that give me faith in humanity.

Wonderful pet shop and animal rescue facility. We were just traveling through New Orleans and happened upon this place by accident. We are so glad we did. We volunteered a few hours' time with the current group of rescue kittens, which was a highlight of our trip. I highly recommend stopping in to pick up supplies, treats, or toys for your furry friends or even better, volunteering to help with their feline family if you're able.

This rescue and pet shop is a wonderful asset to our community. I took my kitty Khaleesi to the wellness clinic today to get her shots and the vet was amazingly kind. Sweet little nonprofit where we purchased toys and treats for our dog back at home. Made a donation and put on some hand sanitizer and snuggled a few puppies up for adoption to socialize them—great idea, and we had so much fun. The woman working was very friendly and hilarious and her shop dog Jax was super, super sweet (even hopped in our laps for a snuggle).

We were given a kitten for $75 CASH ONLY without paperwork to start. We were told they would send it to us, we never saw it. The kitten died after 11 days. My cat, then got sick of FIP and died after having him for 5-years, healthy as can be. Watching your pet of 5 years pass away from such a terrible virus is horrific. They lied and it caused a great deal of pain and suffering to myself and my husband. I do not wish this upon anyone.

We feed 11 community TNR'd cats over in Gretna. I have stopped by the Dumaine Street BEAR store and Mike is always a doll: keeping me in crunchy food for our street-cats. I have also gone by Spain Street and had the same warm, kind response. Let's take good care of our furry kids - at home, or in the community and kudos to BEAR for stepping up.

Khaleesi is 3 yrs old. Very lovable and will play when you want to play. She is a great dog for a family. All shots and worming up to date. She has been fixed so she cannot breed.

Great rescue! We found our little fur baby through this rescue and cannot recommend them enough. Their adoption fees are more than fair and they have been more than attentive to make sure that every dog goes to a good home.

Great place and staff! They have a variety of items from pet food to collars to toys and meds! There’s always adoptable kittens running around as well. Great resource for the neighborhood! And Jess that works there is so sweet and has such a lovely way with the animals!

Brenda is amazing. I found an abandoned dog and have been caring for him before finding him his new home. After Hurricane Ida things have been hectic and I was trying to find a place to get the dog checked out. Most places were not yet operational. Big Easy Pet Shop was not open yet but I called Brenda and she allowed me to come before the shop was even back open. Brenda welcomed me and gave the dog dewormer for free. She also gave me a few free treats for him. She was so kind and generous with her supplies. Her love for animals is clear. I love this place! Thanks so much Brenda!

A rescue place doing more than their share for the pets around the area. All proceeds of all purchases in store goes to fund the rescue so I highly suggest you pass by and buy whatever you need for your cats!

this is a fabulous, small non-profit. The staff are fantastic and Goldie is the best dog groomer ever! We've 3 other places in New Orleans for grooming, a big box store and a small boutique on Magazine, and no one does it like Goldie. This is a great place to pick up fun gifts and supplies for your pet and you are supporting a fabulous cause!!

A wonderful place with capable experienced staff. Also a place to adopt adorable kittens. They have everything needed for the care of dogs & cats. Unlike other half-staffed shops in the Quarter with gaudy cheap ugly "Made in China" outfits to torture your pets and make a tawdry spectacles of your pets.Patronize the Big Easy Petshop and Rescue and you will be glad you did and forget all the others.

Excellent experience! This is a great little pet shop with French Quarter flair. Our quirky nine year old Border Collie has grooming anxiety. We were told by the "big box" pet store she would have to be sedated and groomed by a vet. Not so! Our groomer at the Pet Asylum was wonderful with Ruby! When we picked her up, she was smiling. We look forward to our next trip.

Great place, God sentWe were walking around New Orleans (tourists) and we realized the restaurants, museums, etc were not dog friendly. We called around on a Sunday and no places to board them, until we talked to the owner of this place. Super friendly, got our dogs in, took good care of them as we explored the city. She truly cares and she has much love for animals, gave me great tips from their diet to cleaning up their messes. She fosters animals and the place runs on donations and sale of pet supplies. Highly recommended!!

Ms. Goldie is simply the best, she is the only groomer my dog King has ever bonded with. He always comes out looking fabulous no matter the stretch of time in between grooms! Highly recommend

They do a great job finding homes for animals. One of our cats comes from there.The shop itself is a bit crowded, but most of the time you can find what you're looking for. Plus you often get company while browsing: a curious kitty here, a friendly puppy there. :)
