We stopped in this town to spend the night. We needed gas and stopped at the “French Market Express”. Strange name for a gas station. Then we went inside and WOW! I don’t know much about Cajun food. So standing in front of all the goodies that were presented in the cases, and with all of its unique names I was very fortunate there was a young lady that had the patience to teach me a little bit. According to her everything in the cases was excellent, that didn’t make my making my choices any easier. She suggested a few dishes and that’s what I got. It was outstanding. The pastry was the same as it all looked delicious. We dined in. Food was delicious and hot, service was great and with a beautiful smile. The bill was very reasonable especially for how good everything was.

This must be a popular spot because it was busy inside while other places around it were not busy. People were in line for food inside this market. Clean bathrooms. I stopped by to get gas. Good price on gas as well. There was a different gas station next to it, with the same price on gas their pumps were empty: no lines at all. Must be some magic at French Market Express.

I don’t usually post bad reviews, and this place is generally my favorite, but the service here has tanked. Last week, they forgot to give me half of my order. This time, I ordered two sausage biscuits, a bacon biscuit, tots, and a kolache. I opened my food, and the bacon biscuit is completely mangled. No big deal - I can’t eat that in the car, so I go back in and ask them to replace it. The girl tells me that they are out of biscuits, even though I can see at least a dozen wrapped in the case. I tell her that’s fine, I just want a refund and I’ll give the biscuit back. She tells me to keep it because I’ve already touched it and walks away. I always stop here when I go through Natchitoches, but I think it’s definitely time to take a break from them.**Edited to respond to Owner - I was not told there was a wait time; I was told there were no more biscuits. I would have happily waited on fresh biscuits. I was not offered one of the ones wrapped up - I could have pulled the egg off of it. Neither of these things happened. I know the quality of service to expect from this place - I've been there 50+ times in the past year despite living more than an hour away because of the service and the food. Mistakes happen - we're all human. It's just sad that accountability is no longer the norm and that people would rather lie about something worth less than $5 than owning that it happened.

Always love stopping in Frenchmen’s Market. The Alligator Sausage is phenomenal and they are some of the most friendly people I’ve met.The king 👑 cakes 🍰 are absolutely amazing. You definitely need to stop by and get one!!!

Holy moly, this place is a must for food!! First of all, it’s 24/7, and second of all, the shrimp po’boy is on point! They also have an incredible pastries section with fresh made desserts. Even the hot case items like the meat pies and boudin balls are a hit. They have a really cute gift shop area too. Nice staff, quick, and fresh. I had the chef salad with chicken too, and I was in heaven. They use quality ingredients and it’s so affordable. This is one of my fav spots in the area!!! Thank y’all. We love you. Keep up the delicious, fresh food!!

This place is the bomb. We are always stopping any time we come through the area. Jose was so helpful in helping decide which frozen specialty meats to take home with us since they have such a large selection. Great service all around Highly recommended. Great food and fast friendly service

Absolutely the most friendliest experience every time I enter the store in Natchitoches hands down. Hell I even got a smiley sticker this afternoon. And if you know then you know...Can Not beat that anywhere... Thank you french market worker Jose especially cuz I was having a terrible day until I walked in to pay for gas. Y'all as a team are just awesome

Stopped here when I had a tire issue on a road trip from Dallas to Tallahassee in the posting rain. All the ladies working were super helpful in getting me information for a tire store. When I came I came back in to request help with changing my tire Joe Walker came to my rescue. He changed my tire so quickly and was a very pleasant and polite young man. Thank you all for your help today!

Love the French Market. I have stopped here many times to buy gas and Stuffed animals. I did get a full size stuffed tiger. This time I arrived at lunch. The food is wonderful and price was great. The shrimp was very tasty.

I am a Louisiana girl with a traveler’s heart. I saw this restaurant and had to stop in for a bite. The location was great right off the main Interstate. We decided to order To-Go. The boudin balls were not my favorite but with a bit of ketchup. Bam! These crawfish or original meat pies are amazing. The crust on the pie is my favorite part. SOOOOO Fresh! The staff are on top of their game here. The chef’s skills were exquisite, what a culinary honor to dine here. I encourage you to look at my photos.

My 70 year old mother and I googled Meat Pies and stumbled upon this jewel.. We thoroughly enjoyed our STOP!! We ordered meat pies.( 4)2 spicy /2 regular. Ohhh and I had to try the catfish PO BOY-superb choice!! Moreover, the food I was pleasantly greeted and delighted by Wyatt “Earp” head cashier •Lydia•Liz was definitely your DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH dishing service with a smile. And I could tell they were all trained diligently by Shelly the BEST manager “ as I was told!! Thanks for a great experience!!

My wife drove us here today, as a surprise. While I'm always happy to get out of town, I was confused as to why were were going to a gas station to eat. We went in, and yeah. Don't judge a book by its cover. Yes, they have gas pumps outside. But they also have a wide variety of freshly cooked food that rivals the taste of many restaurants. Natchitoches is known for its meat pies, and French Market Express has some of the best meat pies I've ever had the pleasure of eating. The fried crawfish poboy and the buttermilk pie were both amazing!We traveled 90 miles to eat here and to visit Natchitoches for the afternoon/evening. After eating at French Market Express, I'd travel that same distance just to eat there again. There is so much I want to try. Nice, friendly staff. I saw a very long line when I came out of the restroom, but the staff was very quick to take care of their customers and the line was nonexistent within a few minutes. I honestly can't recommend French Market Express enough!

Spending most of my life in Dallas, Cajun food is not a staple or widespread. So whenever we get a run ( hot shot gig ) down into the southern part of Louisiana, and in this case out to New Orleans, we make it a point to grab some of this food unique to the region. This is our second time at this little market, and from the outside it doesn’t look like much, but the food is excellent. I had the roast beef and gravy and it was an absolute hit. I chose the provolone cheese, but I’m sure it would’ve been great with any kind of cheese. The gravy sauce has a very robust flavor, making this particular sandwich an absolute hit. Next time we roll through here on I-49, we’re going to stop and I’m gonna try out something else on the menu, confident it’s going to be good. This place is certainly worth giving a try if you’re hungry and tired of the same old fast food places out on the road. …

OH MY GOSH THE GINGERBREAD MEN ARE AMAZING!!! I bake a lot and am not easily impressed with store bought baked goods, but these cookies are off the chart in taste and texture. HANDS DOWN THE BEST GINGERBREAD MEN (cookies) I HAVE EVER HAD!!!

I was traveling and decided to stop here.I purchased this praline candy from French Market Express and they refused to take responsibility for selling this bad mold candy to me. I tried calling to speak with management several times, left a message never heard back from anyone with a remedy for this tragedy. Very disappointed that I would be treated like this by this company.

Stopped here after a trip to the nearby Alligator farm and was pleasantly surprised. I got a fried shrimp po-boy and my husband had a meat pie and boudin balls and everything was delicious! Beyond our expectations!

Lord this place has the best peanut butter cookies! I love the crawfish pies I hope they do shrimp one day! I ate all three cookies before I took a pic of them, but I will when I go back through there in a few months!

Stopped on the way to Texas. The womens bathroom is DISGUSTING. The trash was overflowing, one toilet had nice yellow spritz and the other 2/3 stalls had no toilet paper. Then my husband (42) and myself (35) grabbed two beers. The clerk ID'd my husband and that was annoying already, but I get it. My husband hands over his DL and the clerk says, "One that's NOT expired."... it expired on 12-17-23 its 01-01-24Get real.This WAS a stop I made no matter what on my way to and from Louisiana. Not one more time.K,thxbye.Also THE BEER IS CHEAPER AT RACEWAY! And the employees at RACEWAY gives grace to grownups who have lives and can't always get the IDs renewed in the middle of the busiest times of year for us all.

If you’re traveling through here this is a great place to stop for souvenirs and a taste of Louisiana cuisine,, from boudin to meat pies 🥧 and sweets like pecan pralines and all kind of delicious dessert 🍮,, A MUST STOP!!
