Got this beautiful red male iguana, Uxamu, Feb1st 2024. He was very healthy which left me to only have to work with him as he learns to trust me & acclimate to our home & crew. I enjoy talking reptiles with Heather & Tyler. They've had every supply I've needed & always open to discussing different options to help me find what works best for us as I learn. I will say for anyone who sees Uxamu & thinks "Oh, how pretty! I want one!" Do your research. Forget most of the novelty videos you'll see on social media which won't prepare you. This iguana is a more assertive reptile who will reach up to 6 plus feet long. He's a totally different experience than my bearded dragon, leopard & crested gecko.

The store has an amazing selection of pet supplies and animals. I’ve always loved coming there and have bought multiple pets. I’ve never had any problems until the last few months.. the employees were very helpful with supplies and questions but I asked for something from the tanks and instead of responding the employee sighed in my face and walked away. Eventually I got what I asked for but the employee seemed very unhappy about it. The next time I visited I asked for a small animal.. the employee told me I would not want that and I replied that I in fact did want one. I waited by the enclosure for 20 minutes or so while no other customers were in the store. The employee never came to get one out & I thought maybe they were busy but after noticing the employee I asked stocking treats and others talking I eventually put my items back and walked out.. I have felt like an extreme burden both times. I’m scared to ask for any animals at this location now.

After reading some of the reviews. but after not finding too much of the items I wanted ,it made it very hard to continue shopping in a store in which the employees were smoking. I watched especially in the grooming area as one of the ladies up front was puffing on either a cigarette or a vape. The store reeked of cigarette smoke both from her and from the employees at came out of the break room. For those that are going to smoke in the store please at least put a warning on the door for people that are allergic. and kindly remember Louisiana laws do not allow for smoking in a public area.

The staff here are very educated. These big chain stores cannot compete and they actually take care of their animals. You will find no dying animals or reptiles in this store. Kelly is amazing too!

I have been going here for years. Much better than Petsmart. Don’t forget to ask about the reward cards! The fish selection is really good and they always look healthy. We have two dogs, a cat, a bearded dragon, a bird, and fish and I get most of my stuff from here!

I always try to support small businesses. This one has a big selection of dog food and lots of other products to choose from. The live animals, especially the reptiles, aren't very clean.

Found some great discounted puppy food there for a decent price. The staff are always friendly and helpful. They offer grooming and nail cutting services too. Anytime I have my puppy we go and visit the store together!!

What a great pet shop the people were amazing and helpful. They tested my water and gave me info and advice for my aquarium. The fish selection and health was awesome. I will be back to stock my 75 gallon cichlid tank.

The lady on the phone was at first friendly, and then as I requested a certain product, she acted like she couldn't be bothered to go look to see if it was available. I called first, because I wanted to make sure I didn't waste a 40 minute drive to the store.Waste of my time all the way around.I will NOT be calling or visiting this store anytime.Maybe one day, they will learn a bit about customer service.

Need a new family member with four legs or maybe even eight this is the place for you. How about grooming and bath well this is still the place to be. You needing a better selection of food your furs family member, The Animal House is your one stop shop.

Quick summary: The Animal House is a general pet store that puts many specialized fish stores to shame. This is freshwater fish keeping done right.Full story: I just recently moved to West Monroe from Colorado. I’m a freshwater fishkeeper, and I was disappointed to see that most of the local fish stores all specialized in saltwater fish!I thought that I would check out The Animal House and I was stunned to find out that this is not just a pet store. It’s an absolutely top notch freshwater fish store. They have an outstanding variety of fish, an excellent line of high quality fish foods, and really healthy, well taken care of aquatic plants.If you’re in northern Louisiana, and you love freshwater fish, this is an essential place to shop. If you’re looking for an aquarium because your kid won’t stop asking for a fish tank and you don’t know anything about fish, buy here. In many general pet stores, fish are an afterthought. Not at The Animal House. The staff is knowledgeable and passionate about their fish, their fish are clearly well taken care of, and they carry high quality aquarium and fish food products. I’m grateful to have a local fish store to support.

Dropped my dog off to be groomed and staff was nice at drop off but rude and disrespectful at pickup. Was rudely told that I needed to bring my dog back sedated next time, and then proceeded to mans-plane how that works. Also when I picked up my dog, he was cut on the chin by the muzzle and I was not alerted or called before hand when it happened. My dog has never displayed mean behavior at any grooming services but was told he was “very bad” at this one. He has been to professional groomers all his life and he is currently 4 years old. Makes me wonder how he was being treated here.

Brought my son in on Saturday for his first snake. Staff was amazing! She allowed him to hold and look at all the snakes they had available. After his decision he was let to walk around the store with his pic of the litter while we finished shopping. I thought that was really cool of them. She was very helpful in the purchase of heat lamps and lighting for our enclosure. Was a great experience, thank y'all so much 👊👍👏

(Update as of 1/8/23)called Heather per her request the day after she responded to this review.. left a message for her and 2 weeks later never received a call back.Brought our baby in for a face, feet and fanny treatment. All they did was bathe him but still charged us the full price for a service they didn’t provide. Worst part though was when I went to get him they didn’t know which kennel he was in w multiple dogs of the same breed there that day. After trying to give me the wrong dog twice I had to go back and find him myself. Messaged them to let them know what happened, they said they wanted to make it right but when we asked for an available appt we never heard from them again.

The staff are very friendly. They have a good selection and decent prices. They let you snuggle the animals even if you aren't going to adopt on that day. They love seeing the animals being loved on and cared about. Maybe not AS clean as I'd hope, but it is by no means filthy. Just some of the fish tanks could use a good scrub.

I love this place! I always thought it was a vet office, but I am so happy it isn't! Im glad to have them in West Monroe because I always had to go to Monroe for pet supplies, which can be a hassle.

Haven't had feeder mice in many weeks. How can you sell reptiles that eat live mice but can't keep live mice in stock. What do they eat at the store if they refuse pinkies? I guess they starve 🤷🏼‍♀️
