Valentine was really sick and needed to see a veterinarian and her normal veterinarian was closed due to it being the weekend.I’m so thankful I found them on Google.Mr McClendon was so knowledgeable and understanding and answered all of my questions about my baby .I highly recommend them and thank y’all for getting my baby better ✨🐶🐾💜

Actual ongoing review of care due to be given to pets is severely limited. Almost totally "after the fact".Every client is put at a disadvantage to insure their pet(s) are being given proper, ethical veterinary care, while in progress. Keep mental notes on how much actual physical review of care is even allowed. You are paying for it.November 10, 2022 3:15pm c.d.t. [U.S.A.]Did not respond to text\e-mail request for cremation recommendation for "Samantha", my 16 year old shepherd\chow mix.Shows just how much "inhuman" this veterinarian and ALL his staff is when it comes--------------------STILL NO BLACKS IN MGMT. STAFF! BARELY ANY BLACK EMPLOYEES AT McClendon Veterinary, Monroe, LA, AT ALL!!!"clean the cages for you? how long? Shameful of you, Dr. McClendon and your longtime "employee"?? What is it you don't like....?Still no blacks in management\staff. Same as others I am aware of in this area of the state. Clinics in this area are all the same. At about 65-70 a young black man is shown holding a pet, assumption to be made that he is an employee. diversi5-10 years in business. first tiJanuary 04, 2022I would not recommend this veterinary office to anyone for kind, compassionate, service and professional\client give and take.I questioned this office about requiring face masks in order to receive in office professional veterinary services. If no masks, you were further required to sit out in your car or truck and receive less service for the same fees.I asked the office, Dr. McClendon and Denise to explain this decision. What information did they have to back up this inequity in services if you did not want to wear a mask.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------This is not the only inequity at this clinic. Dr. McClendon and Denise have said they do not run a business based on race. In all the time I have been a client, 5 to 8 years, Dr. John McClendon has not had ONE black vet technician or office assistant at the front desk or the vet care room to work with clients coming to the office. What does that say about his and his staff's attitude and office practices?? some black clients, no black office workers? Did he or Denise even try?---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------They refused to respond to my text, so I sent it, for a second time, earlier today, 01\04\2022.I received a rude, and extremely unprofessional call from Denise Kendrix, screaming that McClendon Veterinary was a private office and she did not have to explain anything to me. She then bellered for me to come get my pet's records.I was dumbfounded at her reaction. I was expressing my proper concerns and she and her employer dismissed me out of hand showing me no respect.I strongly suggest that you do not patronize this veterinary office if you expect respect and professional service, give and take. This office does not care about its clients, and, perhaps your pets. Beware.

McClendon Vet was absolutely wonderful! We took our puppy in because h had been very low energy, getting sick, and would not eat or drink anything. We thought he had just eaten something from outside because is always finding stuff to chew on. They did a parvo test which came back positive and I was heartbroken (I had watched a friend try to nurse her dog back to health after testing positive for parvo). They we’re so patient and made sure I knew all of my options and gave me time to cry (which I was doing a lot of) and call my husband to see what we should. We decided to get him treated at the vet and they took such great care of him! They let me see him before I left and let me come in to see him 2 days later to see how he was doing and gave me constant updates. They never once seemed annoyed or bothered to give me an update on my baby. He made it through with no problems and is home and happy! Thank you SO MUCH McClendon Vet!

I love this office! Dr John is so patient and good with my 70lb protectively aggressive rescue dog, while also being super knowledgeable about all the quirks of my little weirdo frenchie too. All the staff I’ve come in contact with were nice, helpful, and seem to genuinely love animals and they always call to let you know how your baby is doing if you have to leave them. Can’t say enough good about these folks!

I've been entrusting the care of my dogs and cats to McClendon Veterinary Clinic for years. They have been wonderful with all of my animals, from regular preventative care, to the unfortunate losses that come with old age. Dr. McClendon and his staff treat each pet and their humans with compassion. I love that the waits are usually short, prices are reasonable, and the staff is super friendly and accommodating. I would definitely recommend them!!

Every time I’ve had to go to this clinic I am treated as though I am their favorite family member. I made the terrible mistake of trying a vet closer to home, NEVER again will I trust anyone but McClendon vet!They have held my hand and literally cried with me at the passing of a furry member of our family. You will NOT find someone that not only cares about your animals, but cares about making sure you understand fully what’s going on with your furry loved one more than Dr. McClendon and Denise. And they answer all my silly questions because they know that I truly want to know and they never hesitate one bit! The cherry on top, my high functioning autistic son asks LOTS of questions and doc NEVER misses a beat answering them on the high intellectual level that they meet! They have always allowed him to be apart of everything and explain things to him as well.So Thank You for always putting up with our crew, from Guinea pigs to anything else! We are so blessed to have you!

Hands down the best Vet care you will find. Dr. McClendon truly looks after the welfare of your pet as well as the staff. One of his nurses Denise has been helping me with 3 orphan kitties. She patiently explained the proper care needed. No hurry to get me out. Addressed all my concerns with TLC. My doggies had their teeth cleaned and all went great. #1 Vet care!!

We had to make the difficult decision to send our sweet girl across the rainbow bridge and since our vet had retired I had to choose an unfamiliar vet office to do it. I’m so thankful I chose McClendon They were all so kind and sensitive to the situation. I was also so grateful for the card with her paw print in it that they all signed and sent me. When we decide we’re ready for our next furry family member we will definitely be using McClendon.

I live outside of West Monroe, which is not close to Dr McClendon’s clinic. But I’m willing to be inconvenienced to get top quality care for my dogs. He is a kind and gentle doctor that I feel cares about my pet. His staff is friendly, caring and compassionate. They didn’t seem to mind at all that my dog pottied on the floor. Twice! I also don’t feel like I have to go take a loan to be able to pay for health care for my pets. McClendon Veterinary Clinic gets an A+ rating!

This is the first Vetinarian within the Ouachita area that has actually shown respect for the owners as well as the animals. He is amazing. And shows that he cares. I'm glad we recently changed vets. And prices are definitely within a reasonable range. My dog nearly lost her leg because my original vet wouldn't fit us in her schedule, McClendon found a way. <3

I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my fur babies. Dr. McClendon explains everything in detail so that you can understand what is going on with your pets. He doesn’t want to scam people or take their money, he really cares about your pets well-being! He’s also on the board for SOS Pets of Ouachita, which I don’t believe any other veterinarian is! He’s not part of some big robotic corporation, it’s just him! If you’re looking for a new vet, McClendon Veterinary Clinic is the place you need to visit!

My fiancé arrived for an 8am appointment (rescheduled after a previous issue w/ the veterinarian's availability). After waiting outside for 40 minutes he called to inquire about the wait. The person who answered told him that there was an unexpected c-section being performed and he would have to come back that afternoon. He informed her that he traveled from out of town and that returning in the afternoon would not work with his work schedule. He hoped she would reply that he could wait 60-90 mins and receive the simple shots my puppy was there for or offer him a reschedule for the next day. Instead, she rudely replied, "I'm not sure what you want me to do. It's an emergency so you can either come back or go somewhere else!" We were legitimately shocked by how rude she was, but we did take her advice. After disconnecting the call, we made an appointment at Ouachita Pet Clinic where the support staff seemed much more polite and professional. We will use them going forward for our veterinary needs.

I’m not even from here and he’s the most compassionate person. My mom and I were on a road trip and found a kitten in a parking lot. He was the only one that was willing to take the kitten in and help it. I mean come on 😒. He obviously is passionate for what he does. If I didn’t live in Dallas I would take my animals there in a nano second.

Someone posted on Facebook that there was a potentially injured kitten at a building that needed help. When I found the kitten, I initially thought it was dead because it wasn’t moving at all. I couldn’t even see any chest movement to indicate it was breathing. When I nudged it, it began trying to meow. I wrapped it in a blanket, and jumped in the car. McClendon was the closest vet, so we rushed there. Due to Covid-19, I couldn’t just go in, but had to call when I got there to let them know I had this poor kitten that was on death’s door and the lady came running out to get it. No questions about payment first. Didn’t even get my name, just grabbed this baby to save it. They couldn’t have known I’d stick around in the parking lot, but they didn’t hesitate to just help this baby. About 15 minutes later, they brought him back to me ALIVE! He is doing great and getting stronger every day. Their quick action and kindness saved this baby!! I may have just found a new vet to use for all of my pets!!!
