The employee killed a fish while we were there. They had some of the worst quality water in the tanks. The person said they'd been working for weeks to try and clean them. We were told to come back tomorrow and they'd be cleaner. But, if they hadn't been cleaned in weeks, one day wouldn't make the difference. I prefer to support local businesses, but sadly I cannot support this one. This was our third bad experience here. We really hoped they would improve each time. As each time they said they'd be better next time, or tomorrow. But they aren't. The animals just aren't cared for properly. It sucks to see many of them in such poor condition. Chalmette has had terrible luck with pet stores like this. We aren't interested in coming back here. Neglecting the animals is cruel.

Why would you name your business "aquatic fish"? Are there non aquatic fish?Cliff the owner over works, over expects, under manages and under pays his works regardless if they are a new graduated high school kid or a more experienced, harder working fish keeper.I won't go back there since the fish room guy quit.Darren had told me different lies in the past one fish compatibility, fish stocking, plants. Hes pretty much just making it up as it goes.The mammals and other animals weren't taken care of well or in proper enclosures becuase owner is constantly stresses and the underpaid workers aren't gonna care.Good luck.

As president of the Southeast Louisiana Aquarium Society, I go to a lot of freshwater fish stores. I was very impressed with the freshwater fish that this store had. All appeared healthy and the prices were good. This store is right up there with the best in the area. It's a great store. Cliff and his staff really know what they are doing!

I've been several times....the staff is friendly, helpful....the owner will stop what he is doing and give help and advice if needed....all fish and snails bought from here are thriving...I even got a blue snail without even knowing...very satisfied and will be back...thanks guys

I buy all my frozen foods here, as well as $360 worth of live rock and also a porcupine puffer. Cliff continúes to increase his inventory. I'm hoping he gets more corals, i stopped by today. His service is great and he and his workers are súper friendly.

I went to see what type of hamsters they had available and was very disgusted with what I saw.There were too many hamsters housed together in very small and dirty enclosures.The store did not separate genders so they could potentially be selling pregnant hamsters to people not knowledgeable or experienced to have their hamster giving birth.In fact, they had one enclosure that was holding 2 females, 1 male, and about 8 babies who were so freshly born they didn’t even have fur or could open their eyes yet. One of the females started to attack the other female because she is protective over the babies and the shop associate had the nerve to actually say they didn’t understand why they were fighting. For those unaware, hamsters are solitary animals and extremely territorial. If threatened enough the mother will eat her babies. That is the first thing you learn when doing research on these animals. So why wouldn’t they know that?They are breeding the hamsters and selling them to whoever wants one without any care of the animals safety, health, or happiness. At one point they said I can take however many I want and put them in the same cage!!They have other pets there, and I wouldn’t trust getting any of them. For example the rabbits were in small dirty cages, snakes had a warning sign of check for mites before buying , and just overall bad pet care ethics.Please do not support this type of animal care.

love how there’s a pet store in the middle of everywhere, very cool pets and good prices, the owner even lets you have a rlly deals sometimes, they also order any fish if they don’t have any, also very nice scenery and set up. 10/10
