Everyone here is so nice! Our dog had an issue after her spay surgery and they saw her right away and didn’t even charge for the exam, which was so nice! We really love this place and will continue to bring our animals here for anything they need.

I have never had a vet office that I love as much as this one, and I’ve lived all over the country. I now drive an hour and a half just to have my pets seen here. I have also boarded my three dogs multiple times and when we go for an appointment they are so excited because they think they are staying! That in itself should be a testament to the environment.We also have a barn cat who thinks she is a dog. She was a stray prior to so we didn’t know much about her history. I brought her in about a month ago to get spayed. She came out great and ready to run! She is healing beautifully.

I will never ever recommend this place to anyone. I've seen this vets work firsthand. My mother took her dog here to have its ears cropped and this vet butchered its ears. The dogs ears look hideous! As a family we owned numerous dogs and they all had cropped ears. Never in my life have we ever seen anything like this. They have many scars, jagged pieces and bumps/knots down the sides of each ear. The ears were cut incorrectly, taped incorrectly and will never stand. The dog got a horrible infection in both ears and almost lost her ears. The dog had to be taken to another vet to treat the infection and save her ears. The way the staff and Dr. McDonald treated my mother when she went to talk to her about it is absolutely appalling!!!I hope you lose your license, Dr. McDonald!!! You are evil, absuive, and incompetent! You ma'am are the old white trash as you called my mother. How dare you talk to people in such a way? Disgusting!!! I can't believe I have to give you even one star, that is too much for your clinic.My response to your side of the story for the record...No I'm not coming into this 2 months after the fact. I've been involved since the beginning.Don't worry Dr McDonald since you never take responsibility for your actions as we knew you would not. You had to be be pushed back by your own vet tech to keep from putting your hands on my 79 year old mother who was sitting in a chair by the wall while you were up against her knees screaming and waiving your arms!! She said to you" if you put your hands on me it will be the worst thing you ever did." She did not dare you!! Because she thought you were going to hit her & that's when your vet tech pushed you back. Why would a small 79 yr old woman who had cancer twice & many back, neck, knee & foot surgeries beg you, a large woman to put your hands on her???? And you called her an old white woman, old woman white trash 3 times. Everything was fine while she was handing you money hand over fist for something that was supposed to cost $525 & ended up costing over $1200 before the other vet bill. I wish you would of called the darn police because they were needed for yourself! And she did leave the premises with no want to ever return. I think you are an abusive jerk! Your staff was very rude on several occasions during this process also. Nevermind the fact that my brother also accompanied her to a few of these visits. The ear crop pic was on your wall & a pic was printed out & given to you. You need to check your dates & facts.They don't add up in your response. About 90% of your story is incorrect & a fat lie! You madam are unethical & a terrible person. You have quite the reputation, the word from many others is DO NOT USE YOUR CLINIC!!! Many ppl in the area say you have issues, treat ppl poorly & provide shotty service. Your professionalism shines thru on how you respond to anyone who leaves a negative review & tells the truth about how you conduct yourself & run your business. The dogs ears never got wet!! The dog used pads in the house during this whole process. You & your staff were told her ears never got wet! You're not telling the truth here! So you are now calling another vet who had to fix your mess a liar? Even when there are records proving that the infection was so severe that the dog was going to lose her ears if not treated? So I guess everyone lies but you. And losing an ear due to infection is not a thing?? What kind of vet are you? People & animals lose body parts all of the time due to infection. The "right" way to cut a ear is so it stands after proper taping & blocking. Just because you've been performing ear cropping for over 20 yrs doesn't mean you know how to do it properly! Teach your tech how to tape ears, she admitted to taping them once.You are out of the clinic a lot & let other staff perform tasks that only a vet should be doing. Your staff has a repution for not answering or returning phone calls as stated by other negative reviews. I'm sure you altered the records in your favor by now. I think you are pathetic trash!

Negative 100 stars!!!!! DO NOT USE!!! RUN from this place as fast as you can!! They are RUDE, ABUSIVE & SCAMMERS!! They have no clue as to what they are doing and they will NOT care for your pet properly!!! Do your research and read EVERY review on every outlet for this place and see how they respond when a complaint is made against them. Very unprofessional and they need to be shut down!!! DR. BIG MAC needs her license pulled and needs to be put on meds and/or attend anger management classes. There is NOTHING CIVIL about her at all!! She is very threatening and abusive!! HORRIBLE PERSON AND VET!!!!! Look in the mirror when you call someone old woman white trash!!!My response to your comment:That's better then what I'd really like to call you. Especially after you called my mother names and had to be pushed back from a 79 year old woman to after threatening her.You are complete trash with 0 integrity! Hope you are investigated! I've used Dr. McDonald for minor to major issues concerning my cats and dogs, and have always been very pleased with her professionalism and standard of care. Most recently I happen to come upon an emaciated, tick infested dog on the side of Hwy 22, who as it turned out, was riddled with heart worms. Dr. McDonald and her staff literally saved his life! They treated him like their own and now he is a happy, healthy guy. When I arrived with this poor soul, her staff immediately jumped into action and it was because of Dr. McDonald's expertise and experience that Trooper survived. She even worked with us on the costs associated with getting him healthy again. I think the before and after photos speak for themselves.

If I could give it a a negative 5 that would be low enough. They do not return phone calls and they engage in shady business practices. I lost over $200 due to their employees inability to type in the correct credit card numbers on an invoice. I called them the next day and waited on hold for 30 mins. to get the issue corrected. I was then told that they would be giving me a call back to address the issue. 2 days went by without a call, so I went to the office in person. Upon speaking to the office manager, I was told that a refund was not possible due to the amount money it would cost them to refund me!! At that point I offered to pay all of all of the “fees” they would be charged for giving me a refund because of their mistake. To which I was told, Dr. McDonald said there is nothing we can do!!

The staff is awesome with the pets. However, I recommend asking about every appointment, procedure and test prices ahead of time. If you don’t ASK, you get a surprise bill. 🤔

I want to give a special Thanks to Christine Theaux McDonald and everyone at Madisonville Animal Hospital.If you have a furbaby and not just a pet, I highly recommend Dr. McDonald! She fought to the very end with us with Beignet! Even though Beignet was 15 years old, Dr. McDonald did not give up on her and suggested that we just euthanize our baby. Dr. McDonald went Above and Beyond and fought to save her! Jamie and the rest of the staff are equally amazing and provided emotional support throughout. If your pet is Truly a member of your family, take to Christine Theaux McDonald!

The staff at this vet is so loving and thorough with my animals. I have a cat, dog, ferret, and bearded dragon. They treat them all!! They see my animals any time I call. I love not having to wait a long time for an appointment and I appreciate the reminders for upcoming appointments. They provide top treatment to our family!!!

We brought our cat to be declawed without asking. They did all 4 paws. Now our cat limps everywhere and isn’t even a year old and this has been over a month since the operation. When I called other vets all of them said they do not do the back claws so when I called madisonville animal hospital they were real odd toward me. Told me not to be accusatory. I wish that they would’ve been more concerned about doing the operation correctly and rather than my attitude.Very disappointment.Part two for anybody who doesn’t believe that I called veterinarians, call yourself and ask them to declaw all four paws of your animal. I will not bring my cat back for another exam because I’m afraid of what will happen.What I can’t believe is you have time to write this long post but you don’t have time to call me back. Once again, very disappointing.

I’ve been a loyal customer for seven years. I have four dogs that go to this clinic. I was happy with the treatment over the years even though I had heard negative comments from friends and neighbors. Today was two of my dogs appointments. I arrived twenty minutes early to make sure I was on time. I was not seen until 80 minutes later. When I asked what the hold up was I was told another dog had an emergency. I can be sympathetic to sick dogs but the animal in question came out ahead of mine and looked fine. I had booked this appointment several months in advance. When it was time to examine my dogs the usual protocol was not used. My dogs were taken out of the waiting room into another room one at a time so I never saw them tested. Then a new doctor who I’ve never met nor did she tell me who she was, came in and checked one of my dogs for a limp I told her he had. She prescribed me meds for him along with meds for my other dog who has allergies. If it was not for the long wait time and strange behavior from the staff I may have stayed. It was all too much for us and unfortunately we will not be returning.

Accommodated all of our pet needs efficiently. My dog a Rocky needed to be seen same day and they allowed us to drop him off for the day so they could squeeze him in. Very kind and helpful staff. Very close to Bedico Creek. Great location.

I have known Dr.Christine McDonald for over 20 years. She has treated a number of my cats over the years. I never have a problem getting an appointment. Her and her staff are always friendly and welcoming. When we had to put one of my cats down, Dr. McDonald was very compassionate and helped us through the upsetting process. A week later I received a clay paw print from Madisonville Vet Clinic as a remembrance of my cat. Needless to say, was touched. You can tell that she has a love of all animals. Without hesitation, I would recommend Dr. McDonald and Madisonville Animal Hospital.

I recommend Dr. McDonald and her staff 100%. I don’t think I would trust any other clinic with my twins. They have always went far and beyond for Bailey & Buster. I can't begin to tell you how wonderful Madisonville Animal Hospital is with my animals. My dogs are like my children and Dr. Chris really understands that. She worked with me when I was afraid to get my little dog spayed and although it took me some time to agree, when it came time for the procedure they were so kind both to me and to Baby Girl. They made sure she was comforted as she came out of anesthesia and she made a quick recovery. I would highly recommend Dr. Chris and all her staff to anyone looking for a new veterinarian.

My dog was very sick which was scary. The staff at Madisonville Animal Hospital not only took care of my fur baby but they also made sure that my husband and I were reassured that he would be ok. They were very gentle with my dog and treated him as their own. The staff followed up on my dog three times in the days after the visit to make sure that he was well and not having any issues with the medication. We truly appreciated everyone's help. Since that time, we took our pup in to be groomed. We were more than pleased with the job that the groomer did. It was easy to tell that my dog felt comfortable with her and we will definitely continue to use all of the services at Madisonville Animal Hospital.

We had just moved to the area and had an emergency and this clinic showed amazing compassion and professionalism. Great first impression. The staff was friendly and professional. I had my dog groomed but wanted her eyebrows shorter. The groomer offered to trim them more without hesitation and I view that as exceptional customer service. Second encounter to establish an appt was not so great. I drove back to my groomer in Destrehan and have decided to just take that drive and stick with who I know, for now.

I moved to this area two years ago and waited too long to choose a new vet. My dog had an advanced fungal infection and had to be euthanized. I LOVED these people. They were professional and did love my dog like their own.The charges were very reasonable and I'm so happy I found my vet for life.

Those of you who have negative and rude comments must be confused. You feel at home from the moment you walk in the doors till the second you leave. I wouldn't allow anyone else to see or touch my pets because this place treats them like family, as do I. Everyone needs to stop by and give this place a try! They're great with small/exotic animals! I take my ferrets and guinea pigs here and only have positive experiences. Dr. Christine is very gentle with animals and obviously cares about every pet she treats.

The love they have for my baby "Te", is comforting to know. He's with me all the time, but when I have to leave him, I'm comfortable and confident that he'll be cared for and loved. I've been with this clinic for many years and don't have even one complaint! I read the nay Sayers and everyone knows there are disgruntled employees and patients with bad experiences everywhere. Some may be true, but also, some are hear-say.Please know if you feel your pet is family and should have only the best...THIS IS THE PLACE! PATHETIC is an understatement for this "animal hospital." Don't get me wrong, it used to be awesome but now it has gone to hell in a handbasket. The staff is rude, inexperienced and the owner/veterinarian couldn't care less. I won't get into details, as I know it will just be denied and/or I will just be attacked by the owner in her response, based on other negative reviews submitted. However, if I can save someone else's pet from torture, it is worth it.Also, please remove the "spacious parking lot" from your on-hold message. There is nothing spacious about it, it is tiny in fact, and it's false advertising.
