Healthy fish, Helpful staff, Great prices.I’ve always been impressed by this shop. The livestock is high quality and healthy. I really appreciate the shop is clean and tidy and the tanks are clean inside and out. The staff is very friendly and honest. I’ve never felt like someone was trying to “make a sale” when helping me.I’ve gone into far too many other fish stores and seen sick/dying/dead fish and owners seeming unconcerned. I’ve never had that experience here. Lastly, the prices! Somehow Aquatic Specialities has better pricing than I see elsewhere. You would think standard captive bred fish would be similarly priced across the board. Yet I’ve seen the exact same fish (likely from the exact same suppliers) costing 30% less at Aquatic Specialties than other places near by.

Very good experience at Aquatic Specialties. The fish on display were all healthy and the tanks were spotless. The customer service was amazing and the prices were very good. I highly recommend.

Tim was really great and really patient with me in the store. I loved the willingness to explain minor details to a beginner like myself and not judge me on the things that I did not know. After leaving the store, I felt comfortable with my decision to get a tank and the vision for the tank in the future. Chip has been wonderful as well with his communication with me via email. I look forward to doing more business with Aquatic Specialties in the future...

I love how helpful everyone is. We bought a coral beauty for our reef tank and some rosy barbs for our planted tank. Everyone has been healthy and thriving. Love this store.

I visited Aquatic Specialties on 2/11/2017. The experience was not very good at all. I purchased a Diamond Goby for $28. I also picked up a few other inverts for a total of $62.46. I drove from the store straight home to Belle Chasse and the Diamond Goby was dead as a door nail. I did not remove it from the bag. I immediately call Aquatic Specialties for a resolution. I talked to a salesperson and they said the Manager was not in and she would return my call once she returned from lunch. I didn't here from her after about 3 hours so I called back before they closed. I explained to her the fish was dead and I did not remove it from the bag. I explained I thought its gill might have got caught in the net for the fish to die that fast just on the ride home. Suzy (the mgr.) let me know the owner does not guarantee fish and she could do nothing for me. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!

The selection is hit or miss, but the quality is always great. Sadly, the store is very tiny, and it's difficult to shop if other people are also there. The biggest drawback is the personalities of the staff. They love to talk down to people and/or explain how they're constantly victimized by other workers. On my last trip, one lady made a simple mistake, and instead of speaking to her in private, the other woman berated her in front of me and three other families. That was incredibly unprofessional and awkward.

Great staff & super friendly,always so helpful with tons of advice & always willing/wanting to at that, never make you feel as if they don't care or if their having a bad day,you wouldn't even know. Amazing place& always clean with great prices & such a large variety. Enjoyable to bring the whole family, my 3 children love visiting here, as well as us parents! Went there with my daughter to get new fish for her tank and other things. We felt like we weren't welcome there! No one greeted us, no one asked if we needed help and when we asked someone he told me ok when I finish what I am doing (he was stripping some wire) then pointed at a girl and said ask her. We asked her for help and you would have thought we asked her to walk a tight rope! I asked her if they had a product I needed and she said if we have one it would be up there and pointed to the front of the store, not let's go see if we have that or I'll show you where they would be!! Very unwelcoming place to be if you ask me!! If I owned a small business I would be at least greeting my NEW customers and asking them if they need assistance! I was also looking into spending a good bit of money on a big fresh water tank but I'd rather go somewhere where they value their customers not make them feel like their a bother!

I happened to see this store passing by and wanted to visit since we have several fish tanks. My husband and I walked around the store looking at the fish and the woman employee started following us around. Not once did she ask if she could help us but stood a few feet away with a mean look on her face watching us hard. Each time I tried smiling at her she would only glare back. Every step we took she followed with her glaring eyes. It made me uncomfortable and I felt she was accusing us of stealing (what where we going to do? Stick a fish in our pocket?) I did purchase 1 item (which I regret doing) and the entire time she checked me out, she didn't say a word and still had a mean look on her face. We had to stand there for awhile to get out the door since other employees were moving a tank out the door and again she kept giving us hateful glances..I will NEVER visit that store again! Even if they were giving things away! There's no reason to treat a customer that way. If she had wanted to make sure we weren't up to something, the professional way would have been to ask us if we needed help. I'm in a bad mood now because of her rudeness and meanness.Way to go for customer service!

I have only visited this place twice and I was well pleased with the service and the quality of the fish and the tanks. All were well kept and I didn't see not one dead fish floating in then, unlike other pet stores I have visited. Staff was knowledgeable and very friendly and also went put of their way to get my wife the closest color to the fish she wanted. Out of all the pet stores I've been to aquatic specialties had by far the best looking and best kept Discus I've seen this far. So if your in the market for discus, or any other fish, be sure to visit Aquatic Specialties in Kenner, la.

Staff is Rude!!! They are only open 2 days a week!!! Staff doesn't help you!!! They dont allow you to talk on your cell phone in the store!!! The guy in the store cursed me out and called me a DICK for being on my cell phone!!! Forced me to leave because I was on the phone and had the nerve to ask me if I was even on the phone like I was having a conversation with myself on the phone!!! DO NOT SHOP HERE it's a complete waste of time for being only open 2 days of out the week!!! Their prices are high!!! GO ELSEWHERE!!! You will be better off!!!

I was pleased with my recent visit to buy a small aquarium (along with a bit of live rock and some hermits). I found the staff to be helpful and friendly. Though I did not buy any fish or corals at this time, I really appreciated how pristine the tanks are kept. It's about a 45 minute drive from my home, but I'll likely return to purchase livestock, as the two pet stores in my town (not counting the big-box places) have a limited saltwater selection, and the tanks are quite dismal in appearance. More importantly, dead/dying fish are a common sight at these places (do these stores not realize how much of a turn-off that is to potential customers?), along with unclear identification/pricing. On the other hand, at Aquatic Specialties, all the stock looked healthy, and I like the fact that there are stickers on the tanks that identify the contents along with when they arrived at the store.

Wish i could give a no star rating. Been once and never will go again. Costumer servive was complely unprofessional went for the first time and saw another hobbyist come in with some coral asked what he had and how much he wanted for it and woman came storming out of back yelling.and getting in our faces. Then proceeded to talk smack about us yelling to a coworker. Came to spend money and was treated like garbage. WILL NEVER GO BACK
