Unfortunately, I hate to say this before it was a full star with you but now I have to give it a 2 star because of the front staff. She was extremely rude and disrespectful. I'll because my dog needed a collar. And I needed a bag for her. Everyone, but the reception is there is nice. Helped out worked great with my dog and the situation. But the front staff is completely disrespectful.

This company values your money and an opportunity to flex what little power they have over the animals in their "care." In my short experience with them, they have hung up on me, bad-mouthed their customers, and made it very clear that they are running a prison for their animals, not a "shelter." Leslie and Crystal have lost sight of what it means to care for an animal's needs beyond cheap food and water. This place is disgusting and I will divert any business I can away from this abhorrent facility.

I had to schedule an appointment to drop off my dogs. They were gonna take both dogs at one time but one of my dogs didn't want to go. I had to reschedule.. The process was very quick. I was able to get updated information on the first dog I dropped off.

Big thanks to tangipahoa animal shelter for rescuing our baby. They were very helpful showing us the dogs and taking them out in the yard for us to interact with. The shelter is very clean and well kept. Pay them a visit and save an animal today. We love our baby!!!!!

I have NEVER been able to get Animal Control to pick up a stray dog. I have lived in Hammond for over a year now. There have been numerous on my street and sometimes I see the same stray repeatedly. They must not patrol around here (right by the University and Community Center where there are plenty of kids). The hours for picking up are awful and if it’s after hours they will only pick up with a police officer and only for aggressive dogs. I don’t have a backyard for my own dogs so when I have to walk them and there is a stray we are all stuck indoors! I get desperate enough to try and catch the stray dogs myself but I cannot keep them or tie them up. Just because a dog isn’t aggressive does not mean it should be allowed to roam the neighborhoods. Today I could not even get them to pick up the phone, it went straight to voicemail!!! Plenty of time before they close and I called three times. Very frustrating.I would rate one star but I appreciate any rescue organization, although I am not fond of kill shelters, I understand they have limited room and resources.UPDATE/REPLY:Please provide an alternate number if your main phone line is not working. I am sitting outside my house with the same two strays I have been calling about. They need to be picked up.The public should not have to come in contact with stray dogs, even if it’s a holiday (MLK Day). They are eating my neighbors trash. My neighbor is also pregnant and has two small children, they are uncomfortable leaving the house with these dogs constantly here. They are friendly dogs, but they are skinny and covered in ticks. I cannot care for them or contain them until tomorrow. This is unacceptable and disappointing!

Looking for my lost dog and I decided to check the Tangipahoa Animal Impound Shelter. No luck finding my dog, however the shelter was exceptionally clean, animals looked healthy and well kept . The employees also looked like they enjoyed their job and genuinely cared for the animals. Impressive work environment !

I buy my pets flea meds here. It's $75 everywhere else. Here it's only $50. We use Bravecta. And it's marketed for 3 months. But really it lasts about 5-6 months! And my dogs love it. Also very sweet staff.

I didn't visit the facility I called them about some dogs that we're starving by my house and also tied up all day wit no water but they brought food and wormer instead. instead 🐶🐕

We called twice to check the availability of a dog, in which I was told yes, she is available. We immediately drove 46 miles (one way) to adopt this dog. Once we arrived, we again asked if she was available and they replied yes. We immediately the dog along with our 5 year old autistic child who absolutely fell in love with the dog. We said, yes we want her. Once we walked back inside to fill out documents, we were told, "sorry, she is up to be transferred to another facility. A mistake was made and told us initially she was available. Definitely a communication and lack of knowledge of the availability of animals at this facility.

They don't have the dogs available they show you on the website OR tell you on the phone. When you arrive they tell you that whatever you were interested in has been "adopted for rescue by another agency".

Adopting a cat was a complete hassle with them. The workers were talking amongst each other while I was in front of them, about how “unsure” I was about adopting the pet, which happened the whole time I was there. They were disrespectful and instead of listening and helping me adopt the cat they kept telling me to leave. I explained to them that I had come a day prior and knew which cat I wanted to adopt and asked if I could fill out the paperwork. The worker at the front desk kept telling me to just come back the following Monday and that it wouldn’t make any difference if the cat was adopted that Friday or the next Monday because the cat would be neutered by then. Today when I went I was told I had to adopt it first and then it would have its surgery. So much confusion, one worker told me one thing and another worker would say something else. Usually it is such a great experience adopting from here but recently they have not been the kindest people to adopt from.

Wonderful Staff! Greeted us when we got there, took a dog we're interested in getting out so we could pet him better. Helpful with answering all of our questions we had. Definitely recommend anyone looking for your forever dog/cat to go see them. I will be back to get the one we fell in love with. Best thing is Dogs are $80 to adopt and most of them are already fixed. Cats are $70 to adopt and most of them are already fixed too.

Have 3 strays at my house trying to get into my rabbit hutch. Was told "I'll write down your info, but I don't know if anyone will come out because we're closed today." On a Friday morning at 9. Not a holiday.My next poor experience with these incompetent folks was when I caught an aggressive dog in my chicken coop. The birds had already flown out & were hiding, so I grabbed a dog treat & went in to get him. He immediately started growling & snapping at me, so I locked him in. Called 3 times in 4 hours. They actually asked ME to put this stray dog that snapped at me into MY vehicle, and bring him in! Someone finally came out after 8 PM. As he's taking this aggressive animal off of my property, the owners from down the street show up. He says to them, "this yo dog?" (not a typo) When they said yes, he waved, said "thank you SO much" & jumped back into his truck. No report, no nothing. This dog was trying to eat my birds, and tried to BITE me.The next morning, I woke up to 4 dead chickens. If he had done his job, this wouldn't have happened, but he was more concerned about having to be out after hours. :/So they do nothing when it comes to aggressive nuisance animals, you'll have to take care of it yourself. And this was not just one bad incident, it's every.single.time. We have a stray problem around here, & we raise chickens so they like to come around our property.If you want to adopt, do it through a non-profit rescue or St Tammany animal shelter. You're better off not even getting involved with this place.

I wish I could give more then five stars. They made me feel right at home and the building is really clean. They love and take really great care of their dogs and even gave my puppy a bath before I took him home. I highly recommend you come here if you are looking for a forever friend.
