I bought some fish the other day and the guy who helped me was knowledgeable and helpful. (Unfortunately I didn’t catch his name!) After a poor experience at another big box pet store that resulted in all of my fish dying (of ich), he explained how they do things at this store and knew what he was talking about instead of just scooping some fish in a bag. The fish seemed to be well cared for and not cramped in their tanks. My fish seem happy! I appreciate the time. Thank you!

Went in today to get food for my pets and I signed up for to vital care program. For some reason, my phone wouldn’t load and it was so embarrassing holding the cashier up. She was incredibly patient and even called customer service to get my rewards points so I could use them today! My cashier Kristin is absolutely a sweetheart; I’ve been coming here for years and never had a single issue. The staff are always nice and super helpful, the place is always clean, they always have what I need. Hope they’re getting paid well here! They deserve it!

My family and I came into the Hammond location about an hour before closing time in hopes of adopting a hamster for our son’s first small pet. As we looked over the hamsters we initially picked out a Fancy Hamster. The associate that came to help us was Kyle, and we are so appreciative of his knowledge and helpfulness. He asked us about of hamster cage at home and recommended a different breed of hamster that best suited our habitat set up. He then started interacting with all the appropriate hamsters in order to find one with a good temperament for our 9 year old. It may have just been another Tuesday night for Kyle, but for our family he really went above and beyond to make sure we got the right pet and shared his recommendations on what we should have at home to make a hamster happy. I’m not sure if Kyle will even see this review, but I hope he does. Thank you, Kyle, we really do appreciate your time and knowledge!

On March 17,2023, my shihpoodle endured a rough time of grooming with Brittany. I had no courtesy call to pick up my angel so I had to call them. To my surprise my baby had cut hair all over me and the car. He wasn’t freshly washed and I noticed his tail wasn’t trimmed right. I went back and forth with the decision to bring him back to get proper grooming services. This time on March 21st, I left him with Jessica and Brittany. I asked for him to be properly groomed and told them both that his tail still long. I also notice that Jaxx wasn’t so chipper and excited to be there. He’s never had to be dragged into grooming room. When I pick him up this time, he was still wet and I also noticed knots in the back of his ears, his tail was chopped in half rather than groomed. It seemed like he was brushed with water and shampoo but never bathed. His fur was not fluffy at all. I decided to wait a couple of days and take care of him myself. He had been through so much. I spent $55.00 for a service my pet didn’t get and I really believe he was abused. I’m really disappointed in Brittany and Jessica they both came highly recommended. Here’s a picture of him after going to the groomers at PetSmart vs petco. I was disappointed with petco but I clearly see that Jaxx was taken care of there. A whole lot better than Petco. The first two photos is Jaxx after his grooming at PetSmart located in Covington La. As always, when leaving the groomers there, he’s happy go lucky! You can clearly see the difference, even with his fur. It was trimmed and fluffy. My baby had no knots. The other two was at Petco in Hammond La. His fur looks choppy and unkempt. He was shaking in the car and had tears in his eyes, he looks really sad. He doesn’t look like he was taken care of. Later that week, I spent hours cutting and brushing out knots behind his ears. I’m still upset about this experience. I called corporate and got no response. I will continue to purchase his food there because it’s nearby our home but I will never bring my baby with me and he will never get groomed there.

The only employee I was able to find was the very pleasant cashier. They were able to call someone for me who was not helpful. Not going to give 1 start only because the cashier was so nice.

Just wanted to thank Jessica again! Great groomer, person, and just so very patient with my dog. My dog is very anxious and Jessica is so good with her. Even through my dog’s “accidents” on her table 🤦🏻♀️. Thank you Jessica for being so great! You’re very appreciated and hopefully Nova will start getting a little better with each visit 🙏🏻. As per usual I am very pleased!

The store environment is pleasant. I was able to find the things I wanted, though I am disappointed that you no longer carry Spot Farms products. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Brought my dog in for grooming. I needed him to be shaved down nails clipped ect...... they had my dog 4 hours and the only thing he got was a bath and he smells horrible!!!! The groomer says she couldn't cut his nails or shave him down . Worse experience ever . My dog has been groomed before with absolutely no problem.

Rude grooming department! They lost my dog's records AGAIN! It's Sunday my vet isn't open so I can't just run by and get them.. my only day off and I go to get my dog groomed, had an appointment weeks ago! I was told I shouldn't have booked his appointment online... WTH that's the way I preferred to book it. I called 6 times to book it and no one answered the phone so I booked online! I will never use this company again for grooming my dog and I'll buy his food and everything else somewhere else! I wanted to give no stars but it wasn't an option! I refuse to use this store anymore this is the second time this has happened with his shot record!UPDATE MY LAST REVIEW, went to Petco today because my dog 🐕 loves this place... I will give them one more try before I decide to Never use them again. Today was definitely different than last time. I watched the girl type in my baby's information so maybe this time it won't be lost.. She wasn't rude and she knew my dog's name without me giving her any information like I said my dog loves this place..He has an appointment within a week so I will update my review after his appointment. Fingers crossed that the information isn't lost again. UPDATE: Well the appointment went great they haven't lost his paperwork yet so that's a plus. I'll continue to use them because my dog loves this place...

I'm writing a review about a particular experience so what happened was i got a beta fish water habitat darkening rock and when i saw my beta fish in there with the rock he wasn't swimming as much as he used to so i think the beta fish ROCK i got made him depressed because after i removed it he is swimming much more now and is swimming like he used to now so my advice don't get the beta fish habitat simulating water darkening rock.

Wonderful grooming experience! The groomers at the Hammond location went above and beyond my expectations. They went out of their way to help me get what I needed and wanted. Very friendly as well. Brittany treated Ralph with love and I could tell head a good time. The support staff was excellent as well. Thank you.

The staff is always friendly and helpful and the prices aren’t bad. I love looking at all the animals and petting the kittens. I usually just shop for food for my geckos and dogs. I adopt a cat one day.

We took training lessons with Liz and she is great!!! She was personable and truly adapted to what my dog needed. She explained everything to me and gave me “homework” and tips to help me train on my own time.

I placed an online order for flea preventative fir this location. The preventative on sale for 1/2 off and the order was ready in less than an hour after placing it. The store is very clean and well organized.

I love this place so muchhh! They have so many animals and it is a big place! I love their fishes, bc they're not expansive at all! And they also have lots birds! I want these two kittens tho...

Kara was a super knowledgeable, informative, passionate employee who had a lot of patience with us and all our questions and such! Very thankful for Kara's expertise.Only reason for 4 instead of 5 is that the store could probably use a good cleaning. Floors and the bathrooms were a bit rough.

Best fish selection of any Petco I have visited in quite some time, fish looked healthy, store was clean and shelves well stocked. Just wish it was easier to run down help when you are ready to get fish or animals and prepare to check out.

I get to the checkout and say hello and the girl with the green hair just looked at me. She checked me out and just looked at me again, I said can I have a bag please after rolling her eyes at me she says bags are 10 cents. I said we'll I am not paying anything for a plastic shopping bag and she said it's OK this time! She was extremely rude and it's ridiculous that after spending almost $50 I have to pay 10 cents per bag....will not go back!

EVERY TIME I go to this location in Hammond it’s like NOBODY is available to help me get fish! I have been there 4 times in the past month and I even go to the register and ask for help with the fish and still nobody comes! Does the customers have to catch their own fish now?? I just need to know so next time I’m there I’ll just grab my own fish. I live near that location but I will go out my way to petsmarts. They seem to love taking my money. I’m very very disappointed with this location and the team that they employ! Please do better. Fire everyone and start over!!!

They are so rude. Half of them act like don’t want to work there we asked to hold a snake and the guy said “I don’t have time to deal with that” so we asked someone else and she said “ are you buying one if not then no”! We will not be going back there
