Based on my recommendation, I was expecting a bit better overall. It does have a good selection but again, doesn't really compare to a Bass Pro or Cabela's.

Last few months the customer service has drastically decreased at this location. Tried getting help before Christmas for an item that was in the back and the guy never returned to tell me if they did or didn't have it. Then tried to return a Christmas gift two days after the 60 day limit and was told no returns no exceptions. At least other stores will offer a store credit or something.

I've never had any issue with an employee; they've all been at least acceptably nice. The store usually seems to be clean, and merchandise is stocked appropriately. There isn't much more I would expect from Academy.

Okay place to shop, staff does not ask you for help and its kind of a mess. Lots of empty shelves and the staff looks so misrable. If you know what you are looking for have a go, but otherwise shop their website.

The store closes at 9pm but the reel bar supposedly closes earlier in the evening. There's no mention of this on academy's website and when trying to call the store before driving 45 minutes to get there no one answers the phone.

There’s an employee there, big Black guy named Glennis that routinely follows people & harasses. Management has clearly done nothing about it since he’s still there. He’s a big liability & possible danger.

Of course Academy has a great selection but the ppl working at ye register were gheto as hell. It was very embarrassing to listen to. Poooooor representation of the Academy brand.

A bit messy compared to other academy stores in the area. Hit or miss on the service. Some folks are very helpful, some don't want to be bothered. Good prices, and have had what needed every time I've been there

I went to the Academy Store in Gretna, LA on Sunday September 3, 2023. My receipt is time stamped 3:45. The cashier name is not on the receipt. If my memory serves me correctly I was at cashier number three.I went to check out. As I approached the cashier. She was laughing with her colleague next to her. Once I got to the counter I gave her a minute to gather herself. She scanned my item but continued to laugh. I had to ask her to please finish checking me out and i had to ask her what is my total. She said the total but I did not hear her since I am hard of hearing. I have a hearing disability. Therefore I had to ask her again. She became irate that I asked her again and said I told you it was 21.83. I gave her my money and told her she did not have to be rude and ugly to me. She put the money on the counter and stormed off. Another person had to finish the sale.I am completely disturb that the cashier went off on me. I was polite and tried to give her a minute to gather herself.I also was treated poorly by the changing room attendant. After trying on a pair of pants, I put them on the table like I was suppose to do. She asked very ugly “What you don’t want these.” She made me feel like I did something wrong.

Friendly staff who guided me to the isle that I needed. As I was looking around, numerous staff asked if I needed assistance or wanted to know about the product I was looking at. Even the cashier was engaging, asked if I found everything I was looking for, and thanked me for shopping... The tennis balls I purchased were for the walker for a family member. Under $4.00 for a do it yourself project (photo attached).

Made a purchase & went to return an item. They took the item at the door & sent me to stand in a line behind 10 people who were making a purchase. What is the point of the customer service counter if everyone has to stand in long lines? Returns should be separate. Unbelievable and a waste of my time

Customer service is absolutely terrible here. Workers were rude and had attitudes for no reason even when we asked for basic service such as asking for the price of an item. We were at a beach the day before and had our wagon stolen, so we came here to buy a replacement. The next day, we were notified that the police found our wagon so we came back to return the replacement wagon, but they refused to accept a return because we had already “opened it in the store” and they didn’t have the box (which they did have the box since they just moved it to the back like the worker said.) Keep in mind that we only opened it to try it out which they allowed us to do. They said they could only give us store credit and give back 20$ when the wagon was 100$. Im absolutely infuriated and disgusted at how poorly these workers treated us. Do yourself a favor and save some hassle by not coming to this academy. Terrible terrible customer service and absolutely horrible management. If I could give negative stars I would.

Went in for some work pants and boots. Took almost an hour to pick out what I needed. Plenty of friendly and helpful staff on the floor working. I saw close to ten people working throughout the clothing department. I was so ready to get out of the store. Went to check out and only ONE register open with a very long line. I put my stuff down and walked out. My back hurts to stand in one spot too long. They had enough employees. Should have put a couple more people on the registers.

The Worse Service on Firearms.Waiting 1 hour to get in the store to Pickup a Firearm and after 1 hour of waiting and fill up the form to get my item they just said that the Store System declined the Purchase without reason, i went to Cabelas after that and withing 30 min i had what i was looking for.AVOID this place !!!! they have Worse System Service, if you have the option of CABELA'S Store near you dont doubt on Go there to get what you want Fast and easier 👍

The level of customer service I experienced on three different occasions was so bad specifically in the firearms section. I will not only never shop at this store again but will next make a purchase at any Academy Sports. If you have a ticket system in place but will just not use it arbitrary then what is the point, and be rude to a potential customer when they call you out for not using your own system.

My first time in in Academy in quite some time. I had a very pleasant visit. Staff was great and the new floor plan takes a little time getting use to, other than that, quite enjoyable. I did find out, that my feet need's the right type of footwear in order to be happy. 😆

I wanted to make a simple return. I had my receipt. I was told I had to wait in the 30 person checkout line instead of being able to go to customer service. I have made returns before and never had to do this. I will not be shopping at this store again.
