New to the area and tried another groomer first but wasn't totally happy for the price. So for a like price, but a few less frills in the shop, I gave the Dog-ber Shop a try and they did a really great job on my Scottie boys. It's been difficult to find people who can cut them correctly. They have also kept their shape as their fur has grown out, which is a sign of a good cut. Taking them for their second cut with this shop and looking for cut consistency. Only have them a 4 because they are difficult to get on the phone but glad I stopped in while out on errands to make my appointment.

I was charged $80 and I tipped $16 for grooming at Dogber in Gonzales. My dog looked cute at first, but when I got in the car I noticed the issues. I went inside and waited to talk to a groomer and was told there was nothing they could do. That she wasn't having it once they got to her face and it wasn't safe to continue. That I understand to a degree. I would rather them be cautious than accidentally harm my fur child. I was also told the reason her chest looked like that was because that's where the hair grows in different directions. However, it's never looked like that from any other groomer. I asked if it was stressful for my dog and if she felt like she needed to be sedated. She said no that she was fine until she got to her head. She probably did get upset after they hurt her, but any dog would've reacted the same way out of fear. Her poor belly looks like it hurt. Also, if she was well behaved the whole time until they got to her head why does my dog's poor belly and bottom have an awful rash! Now i'm going to have to spend more money somewhere else to fix this and my dog will be even more fearful of another groomer in the future. However, I'm probably going to have to wait to fix her haircut because she already has an awful rash that needs to heal first. I feel so bad for my fur baby! I just paid to have my poor little Athena tortured! They never mentioned any behavior issues until I came back in to speak to the groomer. If there was a genuine issue be a professional call the client and address the problem rather than injure an innocent animal. I would like to be transparent and say that grooming has always given my dog anxiety just like it does every other dog, but never to the point she couldn't be groomed or was injured in the process. I didn't ask for a refund or anything like that. I just want other people to be aware of what happened to my dog.

I used to come here a few years ago and the people were very friendly. Fast forward to my visit today 6/21/23. Lady was extremely rude. She acted like it was an absolute inconvenience to wait on me. I waited 2 weeks for this appointment for her to tell me I only scheduled 1 of my 2 dogs to be bathed. When I came back several hours later she was rude again. This is definitely my last visit here. I do not need to give someone my business who thinks it's ok to be rude to anyone.If I could give 0 stars I would!

If I could give zero stars I would!!!!!My baby Beau was a gentle giant, the most laid back boy I've ever known. I can't remember the guys name but I do remember what he looks like. He gave me a call and told me to come pick up my dog because he had an accident on his table. He didn't even finish grooming him but yet wanted me to pay him. I walked my dog to my vehicle and he was walking gingerly and I went back in and asked if he hit him and he wouldn't answer me. A young lady that worked there says he hits on dogs all the time. That was the first and last time any of my babies went there again.

Update: after seeing my review the owner called me. He spoke with the staff and no one remembers an incident that could have caused the injury. The owner said the staff reports any incidents that they witness, which is why he was unaware of my dog’s injury. I appreciate that he called and made an attempt to find out what happened. The groomer did a good job with the cut. The price was higher than I’ve ever been charged for a grooming service, plus the injury and the length of time before a response, I can only give one star.When I picked my dog up, she was limping. I asked if something happened. The woman said she didn’t know and she would need to speak with the groomer. I asked if I could speak with the groomer, but was told she was busy and they would call me. I never received a phone call. I called twice, again I was told that they didn’t know, would to speak to the groomer when she wasn’t busy, and get back to me. My dog’s limp didn’t get better, so I had to take my dog to the vet. My vet believes that my dog hurt her knee and hip during a fall. I didn’t ask for a refund, although I should have, I just wanted to know what happened to my dog! I understand that things happen when you work with animals, but at least have the decency to tell the owner.

I took my one year old Shih Tzu here last week to get groomed, and I have never been more satisfied. He was groomed just like I'd asked and smelled wonderful. After picking him up, he was a happy little pup, whereas he is usually whiny and withdrawn. A week later my puppy still smells good. This is a first!! The price was also reasonable. We will be returning customers.

This was my baby’s first haircut. I was so excited to have her done. I read the reviews and felt confident. That was a huge mistake! I’ve never seen a haircut so bad. In fact, I have no experience and could have done better myself! I had to take her the next day to have her “fixed” I DO NOT recommend this place.I would give them a minus 10 if I could.

This was his first hair cut ever. I dropped him off at 7:30 and he was not ready until 3:30 that day. I was so worried about him. When I went to pick him up, they said they could only bathe him and that was hard enough to do. He freaked out when they went to trim him so he did not get a hair cut. Of course he would be frightened if he waited 7 hours to get a bath and a cut in a kennel, I’m assuming. This is not professional. You would think they know how to approach a young dog who has never had a hair cut before. Very disappointed. Will not be going back here!

I really loved this place, at first. But the last not once, but three times I took my babies they came home with patchy cuts and injuries. My oldest dog wasn’t even bathed or trimmed! I love my schnauzers and loved them at first, but not sure what happened.

Took my dog to get groomed today.. they were very friendly and did an amazing job cutting her hair! I just Moved out to prairieville last year and had still been driving to my groomers in Baton Rouge. They did a much better job here and had her done in just a few hours! Very happy and will continue to use them!

I went here a couple months ago with my two miniature schnauzers and my friends long haired chihuahua. I was high disappointed. I noticed that one of my girls was not groomed just bathe. And the chihuahua had marks from the machine on her back. I took my girls to a different groomer and they conformed that there was no way they could have groomed my smallest schnauzer because she would not let the machine get near her! I do not recommend this place, over charged for such a poor job.

I absolutely love bringing our dog Oliver to get groomed and bathed here! He’s a Shih Tzu so we bring him on a monthly basis. He loves to be outside so much running and playing, even after that he smells so fresh even 3-4 weeks after his last appointment. I recommend anyone to use this groomer. If I could give more than 5 stars I would!

Kept my dog for 8 hours to just bathe him and tell me that he was to tough to cut. It was my dogs first haircut and they couldn't handle a 40 lb dog. Do not bring your pets here. Still charged us 30 dollars for pretty much not letting my dog eat all day and to give him a bath.

The Dogber Shop has been taking care of my son Bentley since they were A Pet Salon. Bentley has been a faithful client of theirs for 10yrs now , so that alone should say enough . From the staff to the services , they’re top tier! Jess is absolutely the best groomer I’ve ever come across , HANDS DOWN! Bentley and I love her so much. I currently live in New Orleans and I STILL would not let anyone else besides TDS touch my dog for his grooming needs .

My traveling companion and I were out of town during the pandemic of 2020. Normally I use Petsmart to groom my 12 year old Pom. Petsmart was booked for weeks. I took a chance on The Dog-Ber shop. After all, how bad could it be and her coat would grow back in short order. To my surprise the lion cut looked like art work, the price was right and the service was great and safe. I highly recommend The Dog-Ber Shop for your pet grooming needs.

I tried to groom my schnoodle myself and he ended up looking like the dog from Steel Magnolias. Could have been my lack of skill or just the fear of hearing me turn on the clippers. Even had to sedate him because he was terrified, probably because of how he'd look when he was done.After ruining a perfectly good dog, I decided I'd let the professionals clean up the consequences of my own actions.Long story short: they made him look like a schnoodle again. And not only that, I've tried to throw them off their game and prove that I'm not the worst groomer ever by switching it up. They always pull it off. One week I ask for him to look more poodle, I leave with a happy poodle. Next groom I ask for him to look more schnauzer....guess what!? He struts out like a schnauzer.Would definitely recommend!Before you take matters into your own hands, call The Dog-Ber shop!Also kudos to their boarding. They will even keep my guinea pig. 😉

I’m sorry we have to give up on yall as our groomer. The first thing is your inconsistency in pricing. The inflexibility of drop off and pick up. And last your poor care for our animals while in your supervision. My dog was boarded 4 nights and left there with a UTI and dehydrated. Dont worry about taking us off your books, you wont be in business much longer.

We dropped off our dog on 9/13/21 at the DOG-BER SHOP in Gonzales, LA to be boarded and groomed while we were displaced from our home due to Hurricane Ida. We left clear instructions that we would be returning the morning of 9/23/21 to pick up the dog and begin to relocate to our home and STILL devastated community. Upon arriving at their shop to pick up the dog on the morning of 9/23/21, the dog was wet from just getting a bath and NOT GROMMED AT ALL and his eyes were extremely crusty (I guess they never took the time to interact with him and check his eyes, even after he received a bath on the morning of 9/23/21). Upon asking them (and a follow up call to them), the excuse was that "we don't bath and groom until the day the dog is to be picked up" and that someone should have called us. To put this into its TRUE perspective, our dog went through Hurricane Ida with us and was obviously in desperate need of a bath and grooming. The DOG-BER took the dog in on 9/13/21 and at that time, it was CLEARLY obvious that he needed a bath and a grooming. Now knowing that they didn't bathe or groom him for 10 ENTIRE DAYS and seeing that he was in pretty rough shape on day 1, clearly says that he was left dirty, unkept and forced to live with eyes so crusty that he could hardly open of close his eyes for 10 entire days is SHAMEFULL. Please keep in mind that this is an elderly dog that is mostly blind and deaf and needs some interaction. With this said, this really makes me wonder what level of interaction he experienced during his 10 Day stay since he needed a bath straightaway on Day 1. Obviously, we care for our pup greatly and thought we left him in good hands but certainly this was not the case. I hope this review helps others to make a better choice than what we made when selecting DOG-BER. I promise, this is a long way from being over!

One of the most caring dog grooming facilities in Gonzales. The staff is very professional and they take care of your pets as if they were your children. Very compassionate and professional. Not to mention the groomers are excellent!!

I do not reccomend this place to anybody. The store is in complete disarray, it smells terrible and the staff is unfriendly and rude. The two times that I've been here, I was surprised with a "special handling fee" that ranged from $20-$40 more from the original price that I was quoted. The reason for the fee was because my dog was "bad". That's like a hairdresser charging a parent $32 on a child's haircut that originally cost $12 because the child was bad and would not stop moving. I tried giving them tips to keep him calm but they never took it into consideration. I've also taken my dog to other nearby groomers in which no one else has ever charged me extra for my dogs behavior nor complained about his behavior. Avoid this place as they are unfriendly, rude, and overpriced.

I worked here for quite a few years and loved everyone that worked there. We have excellent groomers that do awesome work and would never harm anyone's animal so the people that left bad reviews about the service you received and how bad the store was y'all might want to think it over. I totally disagree with them and if you had a problem at the time I'm definitely sure it would have been resolved if you would have told someone in the store instead of going behind our backs and leaving bad reviews. And to the lady that said she had horrible service from the front desk person is not telling the truth because it was probably me and I ALWAYS treated all my customers with respect and was very kind to everyone I checked out. So just because you may have had a "say so" bad experience DO NOT ruin it for everyone else that goes there because like I said everyone there was family to me and I don't appreciate anyone talking bad about them.

Avoid this place. The staff is unfriendly and downright rude. The store is cramped, dirty and has a weird stale smell. When we picked our dogs up from a couple days boarding one was SOAKING wet... not with water but with URINE. They were also kind enough to give us one of the blankets which was also soaked with URINE. Did I mention that the staff of this place were unfriendly and rude? Once again, there are much better options for a pet store and kennel than this place. You've been warned!

We have been bringing our Pekes here for years. You do have to make sure you communicate clearly what you want and have it repeated back to you on the correct card or it will end up in a hair mishap. Other than that, it has been a good experience with a friendly staff. Glad the salon is staying open since the pet store is closing.
