This is a great place to shop for your pets! Very clean store,friendly employees,owners are so helpful. The shop is so neat and clean and you can see how well the animals are cared for. They have a great selection of items for your pet may it be furry, scaly, feathered, hairy, they have just about everything and if they don’t have it talk to the owners, they usually try to accommodate you the best they can by ordering it, or directing you to where you can purchase what you are looking for.I can’t say enough nice things about Janet and Brian and their top employee Christina! This place is #1 for all your pet needs!!

Nice pet store. Seems like average local pet store,. Store was crowded with pet stuff, but clean. Nice birds. One thing I liked was just about everything had prices on it, which a lot of these stores don't. Staff not pushy. Knowledgeable and nice.

Place is kinda dirty, smells of cat urine. The old man was kinda rude and disrespectful. The girl didn’t seem to know what was going on, probably wouldn’t have even addressed us if we didn’t have to interrupt her from scrolling on her phone and ask her for assistance. Kinda expensive in comparison to other locations near by, livestock kinda looked questionable at best.. Hate to say this about a mom and pop shop but wouldn’t recommend doing business here.

Called in ahead to ask if I could trade in some decent size pond goldfish. Was told I could, dropped fish and picked out a few new ones, asked what my credit was and was told by owner he wouldn’t give me anything, maybe a dollar each on the basis he had some goldfish already, when questioned on the difference of his much smaller and more common goldfish where he pretty much dismissed it. If it had been earlier in the day I would have taken them back but had no where to bring them at that point. He was a bit rude and deceitful and bc of it we won’t be returning. Hate to rate a small town shop like this as I understand how it is, but you earned buddy. ****addition for “owner”, for someone who wasn’t present you are quick to call people liars. As a small business owner, reputation is everything and you get that reputation based on how you treat your customers, maybe be more courteous to them..

They did a good job but they charged a 105 for a 12lb dog. She hadn't been groomed in a year And was mattered but I think they should at least give me a heads up. It was gonna be over a 100 bucks. I think that was On the high side so asked the price first.

The staff are always very knowledgeable about their products and helped me start my aquarium hobby and up to this day I always go see them when I need advice, great deals on plant life, and new additions to the tank. Super friendly, feels like home, my favorite pet shop ever, even if it is 1 hour away. Well worth it!

Love this place! I purchased my cockatiel from them and my bird is great! You can tell that they handle and care for their birds because my baby easily adapted. The owner/employees also assisted us in getting a cage, cutting nails and wings. The owner was also very informational and let us know all kinds of tips and care and really put us at ease. Thank you all for your service and my baby I love my cockatiel

This pet store is amazing! We held the puppies and the young guy who helped us was great! I was concerned about the smell before entering the store ( I can't take stribg scents ) but it was fine! If a pet store could smell 'good' I'd say Bayou Pets definitely does.

I usually go here every other week to buy food and toys for my dog and cat. Recently, I found a few fleas on my dog, so I went to buy Frontline (which I have used successfully in the past). I saw that they had ZoGuard there for 50% off, which is supposed to be the same as Frontline, so I bought it for both my dog and cat. When I went to pay I was told the price “was already 50% off,” that seemed weird/ high to me, but I said, “okay,” paid and left. I purchased these on the 16th and today (the 22nd), I checked my cat for fleas and found about 8 of them right away. I called the store to tell them it didn’t work and asked what they could do about it. I was told that, 1. My house must have fleas (it does not) or 2. My backyard must (these are indoor animals, yes, I take my dog for walks, which is where I’m assuming the original fleas came from, but this is what this stuff is supposed to protect against, is it not?). I was then told I must not have had it on long enough, because it takes 24-48 hours to work (it’s been a week). I told her, I’ve had it on, I do NOT have fleas in my house (I spray with frontline once a week to make sure of this), and my animals stay indoors, so the product simply did not work, but since I HAD opened it, I wanted to know what she could do about a refund (thinking maybe there would be a restocking fee). She told me she doesn’t give refunds on her 50% off stuff. And I said, “even if it doesn’t work?” To which she replied, “even if it doesn’t work.” She then told me that it was on sale because the company is discontinuing it, to which I replied that I wish someone had told me, since there is usually a reason when a product is discontinued. I said, “so I’m just out $70, stuck with something that doesn’t work?” And she said, “I don’t give refunds on 50% off items, and you’re the first to complain.” I said fine, and hung up. I then went on my phone to look at reviews to see if it is just me...that’s when I found out that literally EVERY online retailer has it for sale for $27.99 or less. I paid $31.99 each ... so, apparently, their items are marked up over 100%, since their SALE PRICE was $4 higher than the highest price online. So not only am I stuck with a product that doesn’t work, but I paid more at 50% off there, than I would have online. I understand some mark up, but this is ridiculous. I feel completely cheated, and I used to spend well over $100 every other week because of the convenience of not having to leave the neighborhood to do my shopping. I realize they are more expensive than other stores, as is Winn Dixie, but I don’t mind because I realize you pay for convenience. This, however, just makes me feel completely cheated and I will NEVER go there again, even if it means driving to Metairie to go to Petco. I also prefer to support locally owned businesses, but not if they are going to cheat me, and then tell me, “too bad.”

My wife and I went in there to see what they had but they didn't have what we were looking for. The young lady that was working there was very helpful and was very sweet and cordial. If this establishment has what you're looking for then I would definitely recommend going there.

Bayou Pets has great grooming services. Jennie is the BEST. We moved to Ponchatoula and used a groomer there. After that bad experience, we decided that it's worth it to drive to Destrehan and be happy rather than keep searching for a groomer that is comparable to Jennie. We have NEVER had a bad experience with Jennie in all the years our dog has been groomed by her.
