Love this place. Got my pet turtle here and the staff is really nice. They gave us a tank at a discount and they gave us some goldfish. And my beloved turtle which they cared for very much. I've had my turtle for a good while now and they always help if I have a question.

Went by to see what options they had for collars just to see if there was something different from Walmart. They really didn't have much for dogs or cats- just a small section. I didn't find anything, but that was ok. What bothered me was the lack of care from the staff and the animal cages.The staff did not ever once ask me if I needed any help and barely acknowledged I was even in the store (just a glance in my direction when I walked in). They simply sat at the check out counter (a girl sitting on the floor and a guy in a chair) talking to each other quietly. I went to look at their hamsters, chinchillas, and rabbits and just felt bad for them. While the animal's fur looked ok, their cages were a total mess. I've had these types of pets before and I know they are frequent bathroom goers but these cages looked like they haven't been cleaned for awhile. The animals sat at the highest perches and even the rabbits had pushed all of their dirty bedding to the opposite corner of the cage. There was a lot of feces in the cages (even on the floor where I was walking) and some had food all dumped and mixed with their feces. I was literally shocked to see a pet store too lazy to upkeep the cages. They seemed bored and had nothing to do- so why not put some care into the animals forced to sit in their own poop? I will never return here!

Love the pet store have bought many animals from here. But there's been times I have sat outside past opening time to get some things for my animals purchased here. No body ever shows up 30 to 45 mins.

Most knowledgeable employees I’ve ever met. This small business will ensure everything is done to keep your aquariums in perfect condition. Their expertise and friendliness can’t be found anywhere else. 100% recommend this pet shop. I’ve been going there for 25 years in all of their locations they’ve been at and it only gets better.

I absolutely love this store. Probably the best part is the staff, they are incredibly kind and knowledgeable about their products. They also have a wide selection of products for pet owners who have anything other than a cat or a dog. I bought the fish for my fish tank from them, I also buy everything I need for my pet snakes and my bearded dragon from them due to their great prices.

Drove by today both my husband and I, didn't plan to really get anything but I found some beautiful healthy ball pythons they let me hold two of them that I was looking at. Most pet stores tell you no, I ended up taking this beautiful banana pastel ball python. They told me her feeding schedule and that she eats live. Got me the substrate I needed and water cleaner. The two brothers were absolutely fantastic will be back

It's the only place to get live snake food. Sometimes, it has African soft haired mice, the natural prey of ball pythons. Very cool.

Absolutely love this place. The customer service is amazing. Kaleb is def a big help and so friendly. If you are ever looking for a pet to call your own while getting food customer service with patience and kindness, I most certainly recommend coming here!

I just moved from Kentucky and was pleased to know that there was an amazing pet store for all of my animals needs. The staff were super helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. It was clean and they had a nice selection of fish, reptiles, amphibians, birds, insects, arachnids and rodents along with a selection of products to go with them. Their animals were healthy looking and had hides. Their enclosures looked like what you would hold them in at home, so I was pleasantly surprised by that. I'm glad to know they had feeders (frozen and live mice, insects and fish) at good prices. I will be giving them my business (even though it's an hour away from home) and it's worth the drive.

They are AWESOME we went for aquarium plants and I also came home with a red eared slider turtle ( Baxter ) who I am in love with.They taught me everything I needed to know and help me pick out supplies. My turtle is doing GREAT!!!!! We couldn't be happier and with be getting all our fish there despite the 90 minute drive. THEY ARE WORTH IT

Oct, 2022 Updated Review!Last year I visited Deridder Pets and had an awful experience with poor cleanliness and a terrible interaction with the ladies who worked there.Recently though, I was genuinely surprised! The establishment was significantly cleaner and the attention to animal husbandry drastically improved! The gentlemen who worked there were super-duper polite, and the lady who was recently hired seemed enthusiastic as well! Will be visiting again.

We love this pet store!! We have been at Fort Polk for 2 years, and we are so thankful we found this place. For a small store, they have a great assortment of animals and supplies. We have a bearded dragon and go here at least once a week for crickets and other supplies (sand, bulbs, vitamins, etc.). They have great prices. The guys that run it are very knowledgeable, nice, and extremely helpful. They go over and above to make sure you're happy. They get different exotic animals sometimes. We like to go in and see what new animals they have in the shop. They also boarded are beardie while we were on vacation. I can't say enough good things about this store!

The men at this place have always been kind and professional but now that those girls work there the girls are usually in a bad mood, they are unprofessional and put customers to the side to take care of whatever else they are doing. The short colorful haired girl was rude and said not to pet an animal in an angry manner even though there was not a "do not pet" sign above it like the specified other animal. I Waited 10 minutes to try to purchase a rat and they blew me off to order something online that was for a customer that had just called so I left the store. I wish there was a better pet store to buy a rat around this area without having to drive an hour away.

Just about everything you could want for exotic pets like fish, reptiles, avian, reptiles, and more! The cats and dogs are not forgotten but little represented, with a more natural selection of shampoos, and more to relieve your fur baby from various ailments. They even special order! DeRidder Pets is a must for sensible and loving pet owners!

I can't say enough about this pet store. The customer service is the best in DeRidder for any retail shop. Family and locally owned. The staff is beyond knowledgeable and go out of their way to help in every way they can. The animals and fish are always well stocked, healthy and well cared for. So worth a shopping trip

I have 3 iridescent sharks and 2 sucker fish from there. I have had them for almost a year now and only lost one shark and it was due to him freaking out and slamming into side of tank and injured himself bad. Other than that all our fish are very healthy. Will definitely buy my fish from these really nice guys. They take amazing care of their animals and their customers.

The only place I trust with my aquarium needs. Everytime I have visited them I was treated like family and given knowledgeable answer to my questions and 0 sales pitches. Fantastic prices and beautiful setups. I'll be pretty devastated when I have to move and lose them.

I just bought a small $4 gold fish here. It lived for 10 days and then died. They provide no warranty on their fish like most pet stores do. The man told me that if I purchased supplies for my tank he would "see" if he could get me a new gold fish. Beware.

Waited weeks for a bearded dragon that the owner said he had ordered for me specifically. Four came in, the owners wife sold them without notifying me when I was told I would get the first phone call to get one since I had been waiting so long. Waited again for the next order two weeks later. Owner never called, myHusband called and said hold the dragon I was promised and we went up to get him. One dragon. Owner said they’d be 4 months old minimum which is what we wanted. The dragon was much much younger. The owner promised a “huge” discount for my patience. The dragon was originally 75. My discount came to 70.00. What a rip off. The owners wife knew nothing about the care of the lizard except for how the tank should be setup. I don’t recommend, at least if you’re wanting a lizard or any knowledge of one.
