Adopted a kitten here, and it was a great experience! The staff are all extremely kind, and take great care of the animals. Vet staff is knowledgeable and friendly, answering lots of questions and providing very helpful advice for new pet parents. We love our new kitten!

this shelter is amazing and im a foster mom of a puppy in their care. the rescue department is the best most caring animal loving individuals ive met. im so happy to be a small part of helping this wonderful organization. they really make everyone feel welcome and appreciated.

We wanted to fill out whatever forms necessary to begin our process of adopting a rescue dog. The front desk forgot about us. Staff came and went. Nobody acknowledged our existence.We wouldn’t have cared how long we had to sit there but (an important conjunction), no one seemed concerned about potential adoptees. The ONLY important issue was getting other pets into the vets.What a shame.We would have made excellent “parents” whom took our dog to the vet too. But we were ignored. Seems like getting animals adopted and not their teeth cleaned would be the top priority at St.Tammany Humane Society. Poor animals needing adoption with no one to help.I left in tears.

This organization is so caring. It is the only no-kill shelter on the Northshore. The staff and volunteers go over and beyond to make sure the animal’s welfare come first. Their veterinary services are available to the public at a reduced fee. NHS also rescues animals from other shelters and organizes adoption events. I have fostered three dogs with them and the experience has been amazing.

Recently adopted a puppy and every minute of the process was wonderful. We had been looking for weeks and finally found our forever friend. The adoption process was smooth and Maggie patiently answered all our questions and gave advice. Definitely would recommend to anyone looking for a pet.

I brought my cat in after taking her to another vet that only wanted to do an invasive procedure. Dr. Ziegler and her assistant was very respectful and listen to us as to what was best for my cat. Dr. Ziegler went above and beyond to try to find out what was wrong. In the end, she respected the hard decision to end my cats suffering. They gave plenty of time for goodbyes, and explained the whole procedure to me. Very, very professional staff. I appreciate all they have done for my cat.

My family has three dogs total. We have fostered two dogs from NHS and have adopted one and still fostering the other! We bring all three of them to NHS for their vet visits. It’s not conveniently located but the staff and prices make it worth the effort.

I am very pleased with the quality care offered. However, when my dog (that has been a patient there for 11years) needed emergency care (during normal open hours) I was charged an additional $70 because he didn’t have an appointment. So much for loyalty!!!!

I have always taken my cats and my dog to the humane society. Only one time did we have a bad experience and it was the vet herself who caused the issue. But since then, and before then, we love them! My husky, Thurman, absolutely ADORES the staff! He loves going to the vet and roaming the property sniffing Around. They handle him so well for being so big and hyper (but it’s nothing but love) and they are really quick with him. Whether you’re adopting a new furry friend or looking for a low cost vet clinic, this is the place.

I brought my 2 rescue dogs here during Woofstock to get their yearly vaccines. The staff was fantastic, they trimmed their toenails and the cost medications were cheaper than I had been paying. Please support your local Humane society....there are plenty of animals waiting to be adopted.
