I'm familiar with the Gretna location, which I avoid, and I'm an avid hunter and fish. I went to this location for the second time. The shelves are stocked, you see employees all over the store working. They were so friendly, and everyone we passed asked if they could help. This is so not the westbank. The friendliness and available products make it worth the hour drive. Hoping this finds the employees, so they know,their kindness is appreciated.

I am SO picky but was able to find arch support Skechers in my size! Quick and friendly checkout! I was 2nd in line and they called me to the service counter and checked me out very quickly.

Too many times, their online website shows multiple of a particular item to be in stock, just to get there, and there is one or none on the shelf or in the back. Friendly customer service but horrible business practices.

Ordered 2 items online .one was delivered . Called store spoke with someone .Was told I was the second person this happened to .Both of us ordered the same item. The guy said call back the next day to see if item is on next delivery . This went on for several days . The last day I called , I was told 6 of the item came in but it was an order for another customer. I will do business elsewhere from now on .

Love my excercise bike! Perfect for working out at home during social distancing. It also has wheels on the bottom and very light weight so easy to maneuver! Hubby bought it for me for my Easter gift! Love it, it’s perfect!! 😍Update: 6.10.20Got my schwinn bike🚲 I love it! Only complaint is my handle bar needs to be tightened up, but academy said bring it back and they will take a look at it! Beautiful bike! I love the color! So happy I found one, they are almost impossible to find right now. So ready to ride the trace!!! 💜

We have had multiple issues with customer service at this location. Sure, things don’t always work out easily or the way you want, but employees can be kind and personable, and even offer an apology. That goes a long way and this is something we’ve never received.

Bought a Smoking Joes grill. The big one. It was assembled on the floor so I bought that one. Only because they said they would load it. They did. I questioned the way it was loaded but was assured it was good. Well half way home it came out of my truck. It was destroyed and damaged my truck some. Some nice guys helped me load it up and I took it back. Asst manager was hesitant to replace it. I asked him to call the manager and he did. Manager said replace it. This is the kind of company I love doing business with. I will be back many times in the future. You can have a very nice store and great stock but it’s the people who work there that make the store. Thanks academy!

This is a nice Academy to shop at! There’s a good selection of spices and seasonings. I stocked up!! Everything was neat and organized on the clothing and shoe racks, making it so easy to find what I was looking for.

Has everything you need from top quality sports equipment to amazing camping gear. Bought a Magellan outdoor seat and it is so comfy. Prices are very competitive as well

2 months ago I experienced the most humiliation I've experienced in a retail store here. We have an Academy card and shop for the whole family at Academy for different items. The guy in customer service most definitely needs a heart check. I refuse to go in store without my husband anymore. Shouldn't ever have customers afraid to encounter employees

Just when I thought large chain retailers lost any ability or desire to provide customer service, I met Patrick at the Academy Sports in Covington. He was extremely helpful in helping my daughter and I while purchasing an electric ATV for my granddaughter and holding it for us to pick up that afternoon since we were not in a vehicle that could carry it. He worked with me to find the best value and checked back with me twice to make sure we were able to pick up our purchase with no problems! Management, pay attention, this man needs to be rewarded and kept.

My go to place for handgun ammo, if I don't want to wait for an online order to arrive. The line can be long, no matter when you go, but it usually moves pretty quickly.

One of the best Academy's I've been to. Well stocked, nice associates, clean and organized, and speed of checkout you would expect. Just that for 5 stars you ask??? Well, I value time highly and I haven't visited this store at any point and them not have what I need or at least something similar in stock. I don't live super close by so it's always a drive to get there and that I-12 traffic is not joke with the construction. Academy is doing something right with it's people to keep the products flowing in.

We went in to shop handguns and was very impressed with the gentleman at the counter. Mr. Vincent was very knowledgeable on all pistols on hand and took his time to explain each one we were interested in. He explained the proper grip and technique to engage your target. My wife and I loved speaking with him today. I pray he is recognized by his employer for his superior customer service and advanced accordingly..

I'm always treated courteously and the staff are friendly and helpful in every way. One of the things I appreciate most is their knowledgeable associates when I buy my shoes. They're trained to know how to help you get the best fit. Kudos to them!

Overall what you would expect from a sports store. Clean, staff is typically friendly. There prices could be a little better, if you shop the sales you can usually get a decent deal. They have a good variety, stuff for the major team and individual sports as well as a good amount of outdoor recreational gear ( hunting, fishing, camping etc..). They also keep a nice inventory of grilling/smoking/BBQ/crawfish boil items. You will probably find what you are looking for here, but I highly recommend waiting for it to go on sale.

Clean store. Staff on floor was very helpful! She walked with me until I found exactly what I was looking for! Always great sales and prices! Cashier Robert was super friendly. Manager April is always making sure her customers are satisfied and taking care of! I recommend this location over any!

Good location. I'm a big and tall dude so it's hard to find the right sizes in most chain stores. Lately academy has had quite a few different options for me. Plus I got to check out all the new guns, ammo, knives, and fishing gear.

Went in to return shoes I bought. The cashier at the return counter was very friendly and the return process was easy. I then bought a propane tank for $64.00 plus tax I didn't realize that they were that expensive

Store was very well stocked and staff were very helpful except for 3 gentlemen in the gun and ammo area who were too busy talking. The checkout employees were very cheerful and polite, kinda makes you want to come back soon.
