I haven't physically been to this location yet, but I spoke with Cindy on the phone, and it seems like a really good place to shop for hardware! Hartman's is no longer a part of True Value Hardware I was informed... Being a local guide, I recommended an edit for the name to be changed, and the website address to be changed. I highly recommend to you to do less business with the big box stores, and do more business with small locally owned businesses, such as Hartman's - where their employees are part of the family. Thanks!

Got my RV propane tanks and looked at their selection of camper components. Very nice folks. Was helped very quickly and the employees are very knowledgeable. If you need something they can help you or let you know where to get it. Nice hardware store

The customer service is intolerable. The main guy which appears to be the owner is completely lacking in customer relations. This store will never get my business again. Ill go to Allens hardware where customer service is head and shoulders above hartmans !!!!

The guy on the register was a racist. My propane tank only took 10 gallons he charged me for 25 without giving me an explanation. So I went outside & sk the guy that filled my tank & he tells me they charge u for the whole tank no matter the amount it takes. Total rip off!!! If u need propane from them better make sure ur tank is completely empty & ur not a different race from them

Place smell like smoke everywhere. Not great in repairing mowers. It took so long for the repair to be done. Once done with repair another problem appeared. Worst of all the repaired was done without consultant before a go ahead and charged. Really bad business and no courtesy to costumers. Money hunger place. Wonder why they changed from 'True Value' to 'Do it Best'.

Changed their store hours to 8-12 on Saturdays and didn’t update it anywhere. Tried to go local instead of Home Depot and I won’t make that mistake again. Thankfully Anthony’s on the Eastbank has reasonable hours and is actually open when people need it to be.

i have been a customer for over 20 years and spent thousands of dollars in this store. i will never go there again. this past week i was insulted by the owner of the store. accused of not knowing how to test a solenoid, accused of not knowing how to install a solenoid and accused of trying to return a solenoid that i did not need. when all i wanted was to have a defective solenoid he sold to me to be replaced with a working one.

$100 for a gas can while the city is 100% out of power and suffering. I read the other reviews and now understand the lack of moral compass this establishment has. This is your community hurting and you dig the knife deeper. The people who are your economic breath of life and you spit in thier face. You will regret this.

At first I thought Mr. Charlie was rude because it seemed he would talk down or get really loud when I would ask him a question. After actually taking the time to get to know him, he doesn't hear well that's why he speaks really low and repeats what you ask him. Overall this is quality store that offers help that the big box stores will not. Yes you pay more, but you are paying for the extra service of them actually finding what you need. This style of service is a lost part of what is wrong with the world today. The interaction of someone that actually knows where everything is located is not found in 90% of the big box stores. I will continue to give them my business rather than drive 20 minutes to a big box store to save a few dollars when this store is located in my backyard.

Took our push lawn mower in there to have wheels and break/throttle replaced almost a year ago( how long they've had it). Brought it home and started it up and black smoke was coming from the motor and there was no oil in it. Took it back, said they fixed it. Got it home and same problem. Took it back again and now, since they can't fix it, it's a problem simply because it's 8 years old and out of warrenty and they're keeping the money I paid to have it fixed. Very bad business! Will never do business with them again and will tell everyone to who needs lawnmower repairs to take their business elsewhere.

Ed had the parts I called about on the counter waiting for me. He is knowledgeable and helpful. Had the patience to walk around the store to help look for extra things I needed. Explain everything clearly l lost no time.I come here very seldom but always leave a happy costumer.

Walked in looking for a 20" bar and chain for a chainsaw. Older man ( the owner i think ) asked what did i need? I told him i was looking for a 20" bar and chain. He snapped back " what kind ". I explained it was a Husqvarna rancher 450. He snapped back " well what kind", then started to rudely say numbers that meant nothing to me. I politely said never mind and walked out. I will NEVER go there again and will tell everyone i know not to buy anything from his rude, crazy ass. Sooner or later his horrible customer service will put him out of business.

I don't hate this place but there prices are way high . 8 dollars for a role of scotch painters tape . I mean come on I can get a pack of 6 roles at depot for 20. . It would cost 48 dollars to get six roles of tape here plus tax. Nope not me . I'll drive to home depot it's worth it. Everything in this place is way overpriced. I'm a contractor and would never make any money if I used them for materials.

I have purchased numerous things from here in the past 10 years just cause it is closer than other hardware stores and up until this point, I didn't mind giving local businesses my money. Yes the prices are higher and I understand that but after I was treated from the older lady, never going there again. As soon as you walk in, they are there to help you find what you need and that's fine most of the time, but they do that cause they think everyone wants to steal from them in some kind of way I guess. So I was there to get some chain for a gate and i made the mistake/accident of telling her to csut the chain 4ft. All she had left of the chain I wanted was like 5ft. I picked that size chain just cause of the price but really didn't matter. So after the other other guy offer to finish cutting the chain for her, I realized it was too short, so I started looking at a different size and get 6ft. Again my mistake/accident. So as I was looking at another size chain, she walked by and I said I put the chain back cause it was too short and wanted 6ft of this size chain. She said(very rude) I'll let you slide but when they cut a chain it's your and have to pay for it but dont worry about it. I didn't know that up front but it makes sense to me from a business point. So she calls the younger guy over and he seemed a little rude as well when he wrote me the ticket and said go pay while he cuts the chain. So I said I got something else to get then I'll go pay. As I was chasing my son around, I found where the silcone was I needed, the older lady walks to the younger guy asking about the chain and he said I got the ticket but dont cut it til I pay. I think she said it and didn't realize I was right there close by. She seen me by the silcone and rudely told me they are waiting on me in the front to pay as I was looking at silicone. By this time I felt like I was a thief to them so I responded back rude saying I can't finish looking for something. She said no cause she already cut 4ft of chain I didn't need and she said it wasn't an accident like I did it on purpose. I'm pissed now so I exchanged some words and said get the 4ft chain and I'll pay for that too. So she said I will get it and while I was at the counter going to pay, I asked her did y'all cut the 6ft chain yet and she said no. I said rudely, dont cut it and walked out as she is yelling I owe her for the 4ft chain. All the other negative post on this business I believe is true after what I read and what happened to me. This is a zero rating of I could.

Worst customer service that I have ever had. Bad enough that I am typing this in front on their store. The lady up front, snapped at me on everything she said. Next time I will drive to Kenner and have the customer wait. I’m putting aside the terrible prices on everything that are over inflated because they know that they are the on place in town. I can ignore that but there is no excuse for talking to people that way.

Terrible customer service. Called to discuss a return and was treated like trash, when I've spent over 200 dollars on plumbing material at 100% interest rates. Was not allowed to use the restroom. These people are in their own world.

I purchased a lawnmower from Hartman's and brought it back in for repair. The problem was a bad deck according to the mechanic. After several months of delay on a repair still covered by the Snapper warranty I finally decided to pick up my mower and take it else ware. When I got it home and was looking at it at eye level in the back of my truck and I noticed that a bracket bolted to the deck was out of alignment. With Snapper Corp. support on the phone I was able to fix the problem in 27 minutes (not a misprint)TWENTY SEVEN MINUTES. The problem was that it was assembled wrong at Hartman's. He even lied to Snapper saying it didn't leave his store that way. I made myself a promise never to step inside that smoke filled environment again. They will bend over backwards to sell you something, but you are at their mercy for repairs.

Have to change my review, was only 1 star, but a recent visit has made me change my mind. Not the greatest, but they normally have what I'm looking for. As far as the service goes the more I go the better it gets not sure if it's because they are starting to know me or if their just having a better day. I would recommend shopping here.

Rude and unhelpful! Stopped in a few times and never once had a good experience, all the employees are extremely rude and if you try to approach them for anything they act like you’ve ruined their day. Won’t spend another dime at Hartmans.

It amazes me that this place somehow manages to remain open. They've been filling my propane tanks for months, but all of a sudden, right when the cold weather hits, they refused to refill my tanks. The guy was very rude about it and just walked off.

I called about a recall on a Stihl weedeater. The guy I talked to told me that the recall had expired, which I believed to be total BS. So, I called Stihl and asked them about it. Stihl confirmed what I believed... RECALLS DO NOT EXPIRE! Hartman's want money and nothing else. They do not want to help you in anyway.

True Value hardware store usually has what I need in a pinch. I like that the staff is very knowledgeable. Not to mention, Hartman’s True Value is the only UPS shipping location in Luling.

Horrible, they do have want you need or what your looking for(sometimes) but, it's the way they treat you as a person, almost like they are better than you and they and if you ask a question about something they sell or if they sell it, they don't talk to you in the way you suppose to be talked to, they give you this look and talk to you like you are stupid and was supposed to know that, I don't know why they are like this and I'm not just talking about the people that work there, It's mainly the owner and that probably why the other fell they can treat you so ugly, then they know they are the only hardware store in Luling, that's part of the problem, from now on I will go out of my way and drive to Desallamends to Allen's or to Home Depot in Kenner, It's hard to believe that these people stay in business,,,
