This is located across the street from my office and we go there often for lunch. The hot deli is amazing, and the food is home cooked just the way you like it. Fried Chicken is my favorite.The breakfast deli is so good as well....make sure to get the biscuits.....yum.I will occasionally go there for groceries and they always have what I need. The staff is amazing and always helpful, especially when we need their catering services

Matherne’s market has the best value for money food. You can get southern style soul food/cajun food. For 11 bucks, you get a protein, two sides, a piece of bread (their corn bread is amazing) and a dessert( I just substitute it for another piece of cornbread). They have great variety in both protein and sides, but you have to be there before 12:30 for the soul food. You can also get fried food, gumbo and salad by weight and freshly made sushi is also available.The reason I am giving them 4 stars is the prices of groceries are higher, but for food it is 10/10.

Convenient, nice selection of items, and great deals when you catch them. The employees are generally nice too. But recently, I would suggest paying close attention when they ring up your items.The past couple of visits, I’ve had items that were scanned twice and deals that weren’t honored unless I happen to notice it at checkout. I’ve even had produce rung up for a more expensive kind…(a head of cabbage mistaken for napa cabbage.) I understand occasional slip ups, but this has happened within the past four visits.Normally I can spare a few dollars, but groceries are going up and the frequency of these mistakes are getting out of hand.

Matherne’s at LSU is nice :) their fresh produce is good and they listen to their costumers. I asked them to consider carrying Chobani non fat Greek yoghurt and they did it which was pretty nice of them

It's a nice store with very friendly staff but the prices are very high and the choice is limited. They're taxing students for the convenience aspect, which they shouldn't be doing. If you're an LSU student, get the free bus to Walmart, or go elsewhere

Had some issues. "All of your stuff is in one bag." Get home missing hamburger meat. Go back and they held it for me and gave it and apologized. That's a four star review. But I find things on the shelves, not out of date, but definitely bad/expired/rotten. Something is up with their TOS (Time Oxygen Sensitive) food - the stuff on the shelves, NOT the stuff they makes in their kitchen. Packs of deli meat, sealed, not out of date, but bloated from bacteria and rotten. Could be manufacturer problem, but probably stock being left out of temp for too long before being put into the cooler for purchase. Judging by how many different products on the refrigerator lane.

Very convenient for LSU faculty staff and students; a lot of food and beverage choices, alcohol included. 3 stars only since prices are too high. If prices would be reasonable it would be a perfect place to shop.

The store is clean and really nice. It's our first visit. We got a bag of chicken and more groceries. The cashier didn't want to touch the chicken bag. She looked at the chicken 3 times the frowned and asked us if we want a plastic bag for the chicken. We said yes because the bag was dripping blood. She walked off with an attitude and returned with a glove and shoved the chicken into single bags while staring at us. We were the only customers in the store at the moment (LSU campus). I had to double bag myself. No thanks or a smile. We received the add in the mail, save the postage. We won't return.

I always like this place! Staff is always friendly and helpful, good selection of food. This time, I got a rotisserie chicken for dinner while we visited our son at LSU and itnwas very good!

Matherne's Market at LSU is so clean and well stocked. They have great sales. But the greatest thing about my shopping experience at Matherne's was a cashier named Brandie. Brandie is so friendly, helpful and genuine. She has a beautiful personality and made me feel so welcome. Brandie has one of a kind customer service!

Exotic products and cheap "refreshments." Great contrast to the mainstream markets. But why is the salad bar so backwards?? Nothing is labeled at all, no ingredients or allergens at all. There appeared to be no vegetarian protein.

We spend hundreds sometimes even thousands of dollars between everyone at our tailgate at lsu every home game and they lock their restrooms to their paying customers! I’m not talking about the outdoor restrooms! The indoor restrooms also !

Beautiful new full grocery store right on Nicholson directly across from tiger stadium! On the side near Alex Box Stadium and the RV parking lots. So great for all the tailgaters and RVs in the parking lots right there! Lots of prepared foods and a full liquor store!

Very surprised by the quality, variety, special items, & the size of the store among other things. The prices are a little higher but shopping the sales almost evens it out. We really like this market.

Love this store! It's just big enough to have most of the regular grocery items that most people need. I really like the packaged sushi made fresh at the store.

Some good people over there and some good food I live downtown now and I love being able to pop in over there I like the spaghetti at the deli are it’s random but I think they usually cook it during the week like on Tuesday or Wednesday

Unbelievable! Today workers in this store are still not wearing masks and handling food. Why don't you take a tour of the ICU unit at your local hospital and learn what's going on.
