Listen up! This place ain't fancy and it is in a very strange location, but they have a very, very good variety of fish. Not to mention the fact that they will find what you are looking for. It may take some time, but they deliver. I haven't met anyone that works there that isn't super knowledgeable and helpful to make sure you don't screw up your tank. Always new arrivals coming and they will even show you what the supplier has to offer.

The fish selection is top tier, but the customer service leaves a lot to be desired. People standing around, not helping customers. One lady with glasses picking her nose note doing anything, while there's 6 people walking around and only one employee actually helping. This used to not be an issue but it's now twice in a row that I've left the store with nothing because I spent 20 minutes waiting.

I’ve been to the store plenty of times… the fish are always sick , poor selection , store is always a wreck , I’ve seen better fish at petsmart , save your time and money and travel to 50 fathoms

They are friendly and have an awesome amount of knowledge in what they do. You can feel the pride when you walk through the doors. Really, I use them for my hydroponics, my kio pond, and all my tanks. I really love this store every time I go. I have to reexplore the store, it's that fascinating!

This is an updated and expanded review as I've now been coming here fairly religiously. I lost my black water stuff to a bacterium illness and the staff here supported and offered all their knowledge at every step to help me cure my tank.They have a pretty killer selection of fish(with shipments that come in wed/thur and are available for sale the day after they arrive) and can find just about anything you want with enough time and patients on our part as the customer. And they carry quality chemicals at prices that beat or meet Amazon without the wait.I have since bought a larger tank from them, hundreds of dollars more in fish and spent an immense amount of time here.This is not petco to pander to you if you wanna cram 10 goldfish in a 10 gallon, there's no judgement but the wonderful staff here won't deliberately set you or your pets up to fail. If you want complacent yes men that will let you kill your purchases with poor husbandry this isn't really the place.(And the negative reviews I think are folks who just want to be told yes or who are used to big box stores)They have a wealth of knowledge and are happy to share and teach! I've learned in leaps and bounds and am now keeping things I long thought out of my ability to manage.I love this shop and all they do. They are always competitively priced and the service is bar none the best in town. John/Fabian/Jaime are my go to for any questions and are always happy to help and or source new fish or items.

Excellent fish selection, you won't find better. These guys are always looking to bring in the coolest stuff possible. They do pre-orders for Czech Republic tank-raised import orders and from other high end sources all the time, just check them out on facebook. Whether you need some basic healthy community fish or you're looking for a Cyathopharynx Furcifer male to add to your tanganyikan biotope, this is your place to find it.

I went in the store and was immediately greeted by Fabian. He was very knowledgable and interested in helping me. I had no idea what kind of fish I wanted, nor did I know what fish would make good community fish. He was very thoughtful and helpful, and even gave me the bacteria needed to start my tank. If you are new to the hobby, this store is your go to!!!

Me and my wife strongly recommend Louisiana Fish Store! We made our way in there years ago and so glad we did! John and his staff has helped us figure out situations and has recommended some of the best fish through the years. I’ve recently purchased a 300 gallon aquarium from LFS and because of John’s knowledge and experience I have a tank that keeps impressing me and my wife day after day! Give them a shot and you won’t ever want to go anywhere else!

Great experiences when I go here. I drive a far ways to get here but it is worth the drive. The staff are knowledgeable and very friendly. The quality of the product is great as well. When I get my fish and runners elsewhere they don’t last but from here it is never a problem. They answer my questions and offer recommendations that have been very helpful. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. I've talked to the owner a few times on Facebook and in the store. They are always quick to respond online and helpful with finding what I need and providing me with info while I'm in the store.They have a great inventory. From water and plant supplements to aquascaping tools to the awesome selection of livestock and plants, they have been able to help me purchase everything I've been looking for. I picked up a sweet yellow tiger endler and a tire track nerite snail as well as some floating duckweed.I also picked up a used 20 gal. high that was no longer in use at the store for 10 bucks. The only way to beat a 50 cent per gallon sale is a free tank sale!tl;dr The staff is nice and knowledgeable. The inventory they keep is awesome and way better than anything you'll find around Baton Rouge. Spend your money here and avoid buying fish and supplies at chain pet stores like PetSmart or Petco or even Walmart

Let me start by saying I NEVER KEPT A FISH ALIVE MORE THAN TWO WEEKS before I came to this store, recommended by friends. The store staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The store is well stocked with EVERYTHING you need for a fish water tank. The best part is, the staff will tell you what is best to keep the fish alive as long as possible. I went in with the idea of buying a tank filter plants and fish the very first day. I was given a quick and comprehensive lesson on the nitrogen cycle and cultivating good bacteria to keep your tank water healthy. My first set of fish I purchased from them has been alive for 5 months, due both to the knowledge the staff pass on, and the quality of the fish they sell. Go to this store

Today was my second day visiting y’all store. Both times, I was passing through back to Lafayette where I live. My first stop three weeks ago, I bought a gorgeous male Sunshine Peacock. Today, I was helped out by a young man wearing glasses (I unfortunately didn’t get his name) but he sold me an equally gorgeous male Lwanda Peacock. He was very helpful and let me know about ordering specific cichlids and such. Y’all stores selection is amazing. Thank you guys for being helpful and carrying such awesome fish and products!

Great local fish store! I will always get my fish from independent shops versus big chains and this store doesn't let me down! If they don't have something in stock they can probably order it.The staff are very friendly and attentive but not overbearing. The shop itself is a little cluttered but very clean.The fish are always in great shape and there are signs or writing on the tanks that indicate that there is a quarantine practice here.

Nice place to buy aquariums and accessories. Not a big selection of fish but some cool, different, and rather expensive but they are good on replacing a fish after the first couple of days. People there seem to know about tropical fish.

The BEST fish store in Baton Rouge and south east LA! They have a very unique selection of fish for all types of freshwater tanks! The staff is EXTREMELY HELPFUL and knowledgeable about all things fish! Competitively prices and the fish are healthy and happy. As a fish fanatic, this was such an amazing place. The employees seem to rally care about their fish, and they are very knowledgeable on their fish and products.I walked in not knowing what I wanted and they steered me in the right direction. All the employees were very friendly and willing to discuss with me. Jackie in particular made this visit a great experience for me, as she guided me through what I could put in my tank.The store was cleanly and organized. The tanks looked stellar, very clean and well kept. They have definitely earned a repeat customer!

One of the strangest situations I've had at a "business." We were completely ignored for over 20 minutes. Hard to get any help. Ended up not even getting what we went for. Grabbed some snails and got out of there. Would not go again due to the weird nature of the atmosphere. Not sure how they are even open with that kind of service. Then again, it is a baton rouge thing. Rude.

The store is located in a place that you wouldnt expect it. Easy to navigate to (Google maps took me straight there). The staff is knowledgeable but the young lady in the glasses won our hearts. My fish got sick and she is helping me get my tank together again. She gave us a lesson in feeding and in cleaning. They have a wide variety of fresh and salt water fish. High quality products for cleaning and maintaining your tanks are readily available and she can special order certain things or fish you need. I cant wait to get my tank and fish home stocked with a fresh water eel... I'm excited!

This was a very nice fish store, and I will certainly be coming here again. The staff was super friendly and extremely knowledgeable, the fish were beautiful, and the prices were good. However, the messiness/layout of their store was a little annoying, but that doesn't stop me from coming again! Another thing is that their tanks were a little messy, the saltwater section was pretty bad and had tons of algae, and freshwater was good, but I saw a tank that had a platy with severe ich. Apart from that, this is really one of the best places to buy fish in town and I will certainly be coming again.

I have been here on 2 occasions so far and had wonderful service from all their staff. Everyone there is very knowledgeable about fresh water and salt water fish and aquariums. They even offer 1 free water test per customer to test your aquarium water to be sure nothing is wrong. They were so nice and had no issues helping answer my zillion questions. They also have a huge variety of fish and plant life to choose from. I would highly recommend you go here for all your aquarium needs.i will be using them from now on.
