I’ve been on my share of fishing charters but captain Steven if among the best I’ve had the pleasure of fishing with. He took out our group of five. Three of our group are novice at best and me made sure that they had the best time possible while fishing. Fishing was slow that day so he gave us an impromptu swamp tour getting us close up to the alligators. We didn’t get skunked and we all had a great time. I highly recommend booking.

My husband and I love to fish. Whenever we’re away from home and by water….. We search out charters. Everything was GREAT! From Susan in the office to our guide/captain Ron on the boat or should I of said our “Fish Whisperer Ron”. He is an expert in these water. Most fish we EVER caught!!!! It was a great time-highly recommend!

Let me start by saying what an incredible two days of fishing we had. On day one the weather wasn't exactly cooperative and yet we still had a great day and caught fish. Day two, unbelievable!I have fished literally all my life and I've had both good and bad Charter captains. Chad and Barry are both top-notch Captains that I would recommend to anyone in a heartbeat. My two friends, both of whom are from out of state, were absolutely blown away by the natural beauty of Louisiana and the incredible two days of fishing we had.I highly recommend Big Dog Fishing Charters! Also, stay for a few days to get more fishing in 😁

Our trip with Big Dog was the highlight of our trip to New Orleans. While booking the trip Susan helps make sure everything is smooth and turn key. We fished with Capt Alden who is a true professional. He is a great guy and worked really hard to keep us on the fish all day! We will definitely be booking another trip next time we come back!

Guide was great. Went with my 8 and 11 year old kids. Super helpful and informative. I like how he discussed the area and how each hurricane has affected the bayous. We caught our limit and it was all cleaned and bagged for us. Whole experience was seamless. We’ll be back someday for sure.

Captain Chad rocks! The redfish were not really biting but Captain Chad worked and worked until he got us on fish! He made our day turn out great and we had a lot of fun. Thanks Captain Chad and Big Dog for another wonderful trip!

This was a fantastic fishing trip with family. I highly recommend them and staying on their property in Jean Lafitte. They take care of everything you need and the charter also with cleaning the fish you catch. We caught a lot of redfish. Loved this trip!

Where do I begin? This whole experience was just awesome. We caught our limit on spotted trout. It was like going fishing with an old friend. We had the best fishing experience ever! Captain Alden is by far the best there is. Not only did we catch our limit, but he also had the boat stocked with sunscreen and mosquito spray that I forgot to bring. The boat was extremely clean and he made sure everybody had a good time and caught. We also viewed the cabins while being there as well, and they were very clean and beautiful. The outside bathrooms were very clean and smelled lovely! I highly recommend them!

Great experience!! At booking, Susan does an excellent job communicating all the details. We had storms our first day and had to cut our trip short, but Captain Dave did everything possible to dodge the storms and still catch some fish. Just too bad to stay out long as the storms moved in and intensified. Second day we had great weather and Chad had us on the reds quickly! Caught our limit in about 2.5 hours and caught and released a lot more afterwards. Third day we had Alden for an afternoon trip with more bad weather moving in. Alden worked hard and we were able to bring in our limit.This is a top notch company and I have no hesitation in recommending them.

David Bourgeois and Big Dog are extremely welcoming and professional. You know the guide knows his fishing spots when he puts you on fish and you limit out with a party of 4 in one hour. We will be coming back for sure. I also appreciate the details , most other charters would not have the clean restrooms that he has at his landing and lodge as he does. The redfish we caught were very large and we caught and released more after we limited. David, thank you so much for such a wonderful experience.

What a great trip. Capt Dave put us on the fish. Have fished inland saltwater all my life, and have never caught as many redfish as we did on this trip.His Black Jack boat was perfectly comfortable, running across the bay in a heavy chop.If you are thinking about fishing in the Lafitte area- Big Dog Charters is the way to go.

We’ve been twice. First time was pretty good. Second trip we were paired with a guid who did more fishing than we did. I understand finding the fish, but we booked a 4 person charter. The guid never put down his pole which caused one of us to have to sit out or rotate in. When questioned about this approach, they simply said we will look into it. Due to this we won’t be back.

The covered dock, restrooms and boat were very nice. Captain Dave was very knowledgeable and took great care of my Uncle. We caught are limit of redfish. This is the best charter service I have used. We also caught other fish. FUN!!!!! I will be back. Thanks for knocking one more thing off the bucket list.

I was referred to this business by a local years ago and have fished with them several times since. I live in Montana and get down to New Orleans once a year. I will only fish these guys from now on because they are so good at putting us on fish and setting us up with local places to go for dinner and fun!! Lodge is so comfy! Can't wait to get back!!

Such an incredible day! Two co-workers and I were coming down to New Orleans for WEFTEC and found out that we had one free day to spare so we decided to plan a fishing trip. After searching the internet we found that Big Dog had the most reasonable rates so we decided to go with them. They absolutely exceeded our expectations. Captain Chris was very professional and knowledgeable about the area. He put us right on the fish and we had a blast. There was a period of about half an hour where we were all just yanking them out of the water every couple of seconds. We almost had a double header! We even pulled in a big sheep head, catfish, a crab, and two stingrays! Afterwards, Chris cleaned our fish, bagged all the fillets we could eat and boated us over to Bouttes restaurant where they fried up OUR fish! It was delicious! All in all a great trip, I highly recommend Big Dog. If I am back in two years for WEFTEC they can expect to see me again!

Despite the cold weather, we had a great time and caught some nice fish. Very reasonably priced, too. It was awesome to have the ability to drive a few miles away from the dock and eat our fresh catch with a restaurant they work with.
