Found my dog at the animal shelter. They literally had him one day. By the time I got to him they put him down. Said my dog was aggressive and he has never been a day in his life. I highly recommend not using this shelter. They said they are full and look for any excuse to put animals down. And just to make everyone aware he was not a pitbull. He was a 6 month old puppy.

This review is for the animal control portion of the shelter. We have aggressive dogs that people let loose in the trailer park we live in.They've done nothing about these dogs. The office at the park do nothing about these dogs. The state police do nothing about the dogs. They refer us to animal control which is INCREDIBLY difficult to get a hold of in the first place. They say they'll send someone out, no one ever comes. You cannot get out of your own car in your own driveway. You can't enjoy your own front yard. My kids cannot get on the bus or walk to the bus stop. The dogs will attack. And there's no one to help.

Our farm has, sadly, been a dumping ground for cats for over 20 years and we've struggled to keep their population in bounds. The free Spay-Neuter programs the Shelter offers have been high-quality, convenient and very well-organized. Recently they offered to help with this Summer's crop of kittens. They deserve everyone's support!

we went to this shelter to adopt a dog, they were really nice at first and gave us a bunch of things for the dog for free. they didnât have many options so we decided to do a trial adoption. he was the sweetest boy, we loved him so much but we unfortunately had to give him back to the shelter because he was barking all the time causing the neighbors to complain and he was tearing things up. when we took him back they were kind of being rude and sarcastic and they just took him away without letting me say goodbye. then they made a post on their facebook and lied about the reason we gave him back. i wouldnât recommend going to this place. theyâre only nice when you adopt a dog but not when you take one back. i wonât be coming back here.

Kathy is absolutely insufferable and rude to anyone who finds themselves unlucky enough to be stuck in this county with that shelter. The man I spoke with both on the phone and in person was incredibly polite and gave me a good idea of how well this place is ran, wish it could have stayed that way until Kathy came around the corner and shattered that glimmer of respect I had for the service. I called ahead to ask about bringing in a mistreated starving stray that I was concerned for, but after drop off, Kathy questioned me with an attitude as if I were merely dropping off a cat I did not want. This cat was malnourished, declawed, and elderly, why on earth would I torture an animal this way only to bring it in to be helped and hopefully cared for???? I had explained why I couldn't take this random cat and keep it, I really hope her behavior is not relayed towards caring for those animals misfortune enough to be locked in her company.

I adopted from grant county animal shelter in November of last year. He was the best cat anyone could have asked for as a first pet. Sadly, after having him for 9 months and loving him so much, I had to put him to sleep. He suddenly became extremely ill, stopped eating and drinking water, and after taking him to the vet for blood tests discovered that he had feline leukemia. I loved him dearly and was glad for the time I got with him. However, the shelter never informed me that these tests had not been done. Therefore I, having seen that they keep their animals up to date and vet checked, assumed he was checked and fine. That was not the case and sadly, I lost my first pet. I did talk with the owner of the shelter who was incredibly kind, but informed me that they only check if the cat appears sick as it is expensive, something I can vouch for having to get the test done the day before I got the news. I wanted to post this as a warning. So if you adopt from them just know to have the test done, just in case, as a preventative measure. They have a wonderful staff, just wish I had had more time with my cat.

I went to the Grant Co. Animal shelter to see if they still had a black kitten that was on there web. Page, but it was already gone by the time I got there. But they have plenty of dog's, they can't seem to move out the dog's.

I hope the skills to give care and help animals are better than their customer service/people skills. I could write a news article about what transpired between these grown adults and my children, when an animal was thrown out in my front yard and abandoned and my kids brought it here for help. We could do better Grant County, seriously and these people represent your community.

Staff is RUDE. Especially Kathy, she instantly had an attitude when she answered the phone, and when I went in she was even more rude. She was condescending and disrespectful towards me and the other woman in the building. Do not go here unless you want an instant headache. Would give 0 stars if I could. I just hope they treat the animals better than their human guests.

My fiance` had a medical emergency on Monday evening and had to be taken to the hospital. She had her service dog in the car with her and had to be take to the shelter. That evening they were extremely uncooperative and would not allow us to pick her up until the next day. We live in Nicholasville and had to drive back up to Williamstown to get her the next day. When someone has a medical emergency and the dog that has been taken in is a service dog the person is not supposed to be away for the animal for a period of time. I only give them 3 stars because they did not charge us for the overnight stay. They also let us into the shelter about 15 minutes before they opened.

Completely inconsistent and rude. We had an injured cat show up at our house. We took him to the vet and got him fixed up. Unfortunately we can not take care of him until he recovers. We called this shelter ahead of time and asked if they would be able to take care of him until he recovers, we had the medication and everything. The guy on the phone said that it wouldnât be a problem and to bring him in. Today we brought him up and they said that there was nothing they could do. They lied, and now I donât know what to do with this poor cat.

We adopted a beautiful 8 y/o brindle pit. Everyone here seemed as though they actually care about the animals. Great place to go for a new pet/family member. Definitely recommend.

The Women at the Shelter showed much compassion and concern for the animals. And the Animals were so precious I would have taken them all with me if I could..đđđ I Pray that God Blesses them all to safe warm hearted homes. Amen..

My girlfriend and I found a dog last night and we called to ask if The Grant County Animal Shelter was a no kill shelter because we donât wanna take the dog to a shelter just for it to be put down. When I asked if they were a no kill shelter her response was ânow why would you ask me thatâ in a very rude tone. She never answered my question.

Worst place in grant county . Staff is rude especially when your not talking to them directly. They donât take all dogs in , I rescued a dog and they told me to go to Boone county even tho I live in grant and the dog is from Gallatin county ! And a lot of people I know have had worse experiences there to dealing with them !

Poorly managed!! Donât waste your time trying to adopt from here. Was told on the phone animals couldnât be placed on hold and needed to arrive at opening time to try and adopt. I arrived 25 minutes early and sat outside closed gate waiting for them to open. I was told from worker who opened the gate 15 minutes before opening that animal was already being adopted. When asked how because they werenât even opened yet she responded âsomeone squeezed through gate early and was already inside adopting animal.â Clearly they bend the rules for who and what they want to.

Totally shocked at the attitude of the one and only employee here! After dropping off three strays from a local business, she proceeded to tell me that she doesn't have the ability to progress any animals from quarantine to the adoptable status because she is not certified or trained to give vaccinations or disease tests. So, all the animals here just sit in limbo awaiting an employee who is on medical leave, and has been for quite some time, to show up and help them get healthy for adoption. When I tried to make a suggestion as to how things might be bettered for the situation they are in, I was dismissed as an idiot who didn't know what I was talking about. I am a retired Cruelty Investigator, who has worked with the Humane Society and local shelters for many years, helping rehome hundreds of dogs and cats over the years. Long story short, too late, this shelter needs a revamp of how it's being run, and Friends of the Shelter needs to re-evaluate where funding is being spent. Because this employee is not where the money should be going. There are plenty of qualified people (true animal lovers) out there that are unemployed that can not only do the job but actually care about the well being of the animals stuck here but no fault of their own.

Rarely sticks to schedule, is very rude when dropping off an animal. But still a genuinely good place to pick up a new furever friend. The animals are much better than the people.
