I am not sure where the people leaving bad reviews are going because this shelter is amazing. The animals are very clearly taken care of and the shelter is always clean. We got our kitten Buffy here & everyone was kind to us. Buffy is a perfect fit for our family and we have Animal Refuge to thank for helping us find a cat to add to our family!

A Wonderful group of people taking care of all sorts of pets. They are super helpfull and give best advise for all animal needs. A good place to go if you want to foster a pet, adopt or even voleteer. We donated some goods for a cat named Tommy. Even paid for halve of his adoption. Best kitten iv ever met.

Overall, I was pleased with my experience here! I adopted a beautiful, special needs orange cat. He was extremely well taken care of, as well as all of the other animals. The amount of love and care the staff has for the animals is very easily recognized. They were knowledgeable, and very thorough in the adoption process. However, I felt at certain times, the owner was unintentionally rude. Throughout the adoption, I felt as if it was a burden to that I was calling with questions and wanted to adopt one of their animals. I don’t feel it was intentional by any means, but I hope that improvements are made in this area in the future. It really is a great shelter!

Penny is rude. She should really give a person a chance to speak before throwing so much attitude. This shelter is amazing. They are the only shelter in this area that combo tests. They put so much love and care into all 9f the animals at their shelter. They are not kill amd they gave animals a chance that normally would have been euthanized some place else.

This is a great place with a wonderful group of volunteers who care for pets without homes. It's a no-kill shelter. They cater to many types of animals, from pigs and goats to cats and dogs.

Absolutely wonderful place! Not to mention the staff! Very helpful to me. Reminder tho u can't expect rescue do it all. Donations or helping them out is beneficial that they are non profit.

I adopted Simon 8 years ago and absolutely love him! They have always been very kind and supportive of the animals of the community. But, I think people need to understand that just because they are a shelter doesn’t mean they can help everyone. They rely on don ations to run the shelter and that is always a struggle. They DO NOT have a veterinarian on staff to help with medicial emergencies….please take them to a veterinarian. They only have so much room being a small shelter. I think people are too judgmental when they are in a situation and ARC is unable to help them.Please spay and neuter your pets!

This is the greatest place I've ever volunteered for. The cats have free range of the house (because it's their house!) And aren't locked up in cages for hours on end. The dogs have tons of room to run and play with each other. The animals are taken such good care of and they want for nothing. My parents adopted a kitten from them, and my fiancé and I are adopting 2 cats. This is my favorite place to be!

We adopted Owen from the Animal refuge center just recently. The staff was very friendly and very honest about all of the cat's personalities. They helped us through all of the paperwork we needed, took great care of the cat while he was there, and we were out the door in no time at all with our new friend. Thank you all!

In February 2010 I lost my fur baby Max. In April I was driving past the Feeders Supply in Elizabethtown. They were having an adoption event. I really wasn’t looking to adopt at the time, but something told me to go in. That’s where I met Bruno - an approximately 1 1/2 year old pit/lab mix. I feel in love immediately, and I took him home. Fast forward 11 years and he has been an awesome friend. He’s lazy. He’d rather nap than play. He has always gotten along well with all the kids who are around me. I took in a little stray Jack Russell Mix in April 2020. Bruno loves having her around. He’s the best. I wouldn’t have Bruno if it wasn’t for the work the wonderful people at ARC do. Thank you so much.

A great place to adopt your new best friend. Wonderful staff who cares about the animals, which are mostly cats, a few dogs, and some goats. The animals are healthy, the ones with FIV are kept separately and you will be told about their care. You won't find a better place to adopt your best bud.

Would give zero stars if it was an option. Their site advertises that they help animals in need and have stories about helping dogs that were ran over etc. But when I reached out about a kitten I found in need they said they wouldn't help it and then asked me to volunteer for their company. It took 2 weeks to even get a response from them and then they said to take care of the kitten myself.

I went out there to check it out with my daughter. I expected it to be totally gross smelling with all the cats they have. I was shocked you dont smell anything past the garage. The animals appear to be very well cared for. They have volunteers that come out just to visit with the animals and to help clean it up. If i was going to get another animal i would definitely consider this place to do so. Highly recommend.

I've adopted 3 babies from there- even a special needs kitty and I adore them all! The ARC makes sure they are healthy and spayed/neutered before adopting them out. I love the care they provide these babies.

Absolutely love this place. They love the animals so much and it’s so much fun to sit with all the cats and see all their different personalities. We’re adopting Paco from them and they’ve been so kind to us and making sure he’s going to settle in great in his forever home.

Called to ask if they had room for my dog, we're in a tight spot, my car broke down, I lost my job, and my apartment all in a week. So we have to move in with somebody for a month or two until we get back on our feet. Tried to ask everyone I know if they could keep my dog until we got our own place again, nobody could. So my last option was to find a shelter for him. So I seen the reviews on this shelter and thought it seemed like a good place, called up there and the lady was extremely rude and nosey, asking why we didn't plan ahead and not letting me get a word in. All she had to say was there wasn't any room left, don't talk down to me when you don't even know my situation. I'd give this place 0 stars if I could .

The Animal Refuge Center (ARC) is a non-profit, no-kill shelter full of cats, dogs and even some farm animals. Everyone who works at the ARC has a heart of gold and has the interest of each and every animal as the number ONE priority. Much scrutiny is applied to each application to adopt any animal to ensure he/she is placed in the right home and in the best conditions. The ONLY downfall is the ARC deserves more funds/donations to support the animals and provide them the optimal conditions while at the ARC.

Called to see if they were full as I have cats who need good homes and was given a serious attitude because I’d don’t know whether these cats were mine or not. The woman continuously judged me. I recommend getting someone else to answer the phones

They take great care of the animals in their center. I don't know how but they know every animals name. I have trouble calling my 3 cats by their name. 😊

I don't even want to give them one star. I just called up there and was trying t figure out my options, and she completely interrupted me in the middle of my conversation and was extremely rude. I will never go through them. Ever. Don't recommend them either!! It doesn't seem like it the only one either..

People say the guy behind the counter is rude he was very nice and very welcoming too me stop reading reviews and actually go in ive done business here twice and no problem at all anyways thank you for my cats I may stop in and spend some time with the animals some day when I’m off work

This place was clean and the people there were very caring. They have rooms for declawed cats in pain, cat lukemia, and cats AIDS. All the animals seemed happy and relaxed.
