For a step back in time, take a tour of the house and Butcher Holler. Loretta Lynn's cousin, Mack, was there to give us the short tour of the house and answer any questions we had. He was a super nice guy, down to earth, and just a pleasure to chat with. He works hard to keep the Loretta Lynn homeplace a treasure for everyone to see and keep the history alive!

For some reason Mack didn't feel like giving us a tour. Maybe he was tired. Not meant to be. You can visit obscurity, but you might not get a tour. They "close for the season". We were there Thxgvg weekend. Also know that there is a replica in Hurricane Mills, TN...I'm sure you won't get turned away there. Still grateful for the stop.

We had made the trip on several occasions to Butcher Holler but Loretta's Lynn's childhood home was closed for tours. Catching their off days. This occasion we got lucky. Mack was very informative and provided a wealth of information concerning this home in the holler. Well worth the drive. Highly recommend for anyone that's not only a fan of Loretta's but has an appreciation for history and the kind folks of Appalachia.

Super awesome experience in the backwoods of Kentucky. Absolutely worth the stop whether you are a fan of Loretta Lynn or not.The tour was given by her niece and was super organic and informative. So glad we took the time to get off the highway and into Van Lear.

It was a great place to visit. But we weren't able to go inside. They don't do regular tours, you have to stop at Webb's grocery on the way, and if the guy is in the store and can get away a few minutes, he will take you up there and let you in. But he wasn't able to take us when we went, so we just had to drive there and look at the outside.

This was a really neat place, and done by her niece. I was more interested in the home and furnishings etc than the many photos of her career. It was $5 a piece and her niece walked us through the place giving us some stories, mostly about other family members and people who visited. It was fun and worth the stop to me, but not to my boyfriend, Gary.

Small but, well worth the visit! Connie, Loretta's cousin, was an awesome guide! We loved learning about the history of the homeplace. As well as some stories about Loretta (Webb) Lynn and her siblings when they were young. A lot of memorabilia from not just Loretta but from her entire family. Make sure to check out Webb's Grocery on the way in for souvenirs and maybe a cold drink on a hot day!

My visit to Loretta Lynn's birthplace and childhood home was unfortunately not as fulfilling as I had hoped. Navigating to the location proved to be a challenge, as Apple Maps led us astray and we found ourselves in the midst of residential houses. Eventually, we came across small signs that directed us towards the site, but the signage was not clear enough, and we couldn't locate her childhood home.We did stumble upon a general store, which we later learned was the place to purchase tickets for the house tour. However, the lack of clear signage caused us to miss this opportunity. Continuing on to Butcher Holler, we were uncertain of what exactly we were looking for. Apart from a painted rock, there was no indication of Loretta Lynn's connection to the area. We stumbled upon a boarded-up house, but there was no plaque or sign to confirm if it was her birthplace.Navigating the narrow roads in the secluded woods was expected, given the remote location. However, the lack of visible landmarks or clear directions made it difficult to confirm whether we were in the correct place. It was disappointing not to find any concrete evidence of Loretta Lynn's childhood home or birthplace.Despite the disappointment, being in the vicinity where Loretta Lynn grew up did give us a sense of the challenging environment she emerged from. It is truly awe-inspiring to think about her journey from Butcher Hollow to achieving success in the music industry. In an era without the convenience of modern technology, she followed her dreams and managed to break free from her rural surroundings, which is a testament to her remarkable talent and determination. While the experience of visiting Loretta Lynn's birthplace and childhood home may not have lived up to expectations due to unclear signage and a lack of identifiable landmarks, the story of her triumph over adversity remains truly remarkable.

This is a fantastic stop off for any fan of Loretta Lynn and her family. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the family, not just Loretta. He made the tour very interesting and informative. On the way to the house you get to see the coal mine where Loretta's father worked as well as the school house she attended. The tour starts at the Grocery store that was owned and operated by Jack Webb, Loretta's brother. It is off the path a little but well worth the visit. We thoroughly enjoyed it.

Great experience especially if you're a fan. It's amazing to see her humble beginnings before she became the Country Music icon she is today. There is a tour provided by her niece Hermalee Webb who's a sweetheart and in my opinion resembles Loretta. She provides a lot of information about the various items inside as well as facts about the family and house itself. There is a cost for the tour but it's not much and the cost is used to provide the upkeep so it's worth it in my opinion.

We had an authentic experience. The home is as it was inside and the $5 tour was worth it. Parking is truly at a minimum of about 6 vehicles and if it's full at the top of the one lane up then you will need to reverse down the one lane.

We got lucky when we arrived and there were people there showing the house. The man who showed us was very friendly and informative, after we toured the home we went down the road to the store, they had souvenirs and stuff there. The house was in original condition and had lots of cool things inside, the only thing I didn't like was all the writing on the ceilings and walls.

Stop at the general store. Ask for the tour and they'll point you down/up(I'm not from there) the hollow. The cabin is an interesting stop for fans and just people curious about that time in history. Very friendly guide walked us through and explained anything we had questions about

My child hood memories growing up listening to Loretta Lynn's music then watching coal miner's daughter. Still enjoying both, but to actually get to visit her home and have her niece give a tour, it really just made you feel like you were just part of the family and you just stopped by to say hey family.....
