We just adopted a new dog from this shelter as a companion for our existing dog and for ourselves. I took our existing dog with me to meet our potential adoptee, and Joan, the animal care officer there that day, took all the time we needed to be sure the two dogs got along.When I came back to pick our new dog up after her spay surgery, Dan, the other animal care officer, even met me halfway so I didn't have to make the 1.5 hour trip from Cincinnati a second time!I've never met two more caring individuals at a shelter than Joan and Dan. I'm very glad I was able to work with both of them to adopt our new, healthy, smart family member!

It's a bit of a drive from Louisville, which makes their hours a little difficult to work around. However, the staff is super friendly, knowledgable, and helpful. The place is clean and the dogs were well taken care of. I walked in and told them I was looking for a medium sized dog, that had no pitbull because of apartment restrictions. They immediately introduced me to a sweetheart of a dog and I guess you could say it was love at first sight. I swear it's like they knew it would be a fit at first glance! The adoption process was very smooth and quick. We left with a happy new addition to the family.

Joan & Heather were hard at work cleaning the shelter for the dogs. It is unbelievable ALL the BEAUTIFUL dogs they have available. And they are having a cookout for everyone on Saturday, May 13, 2023!!!

My husband and I adopted a pet from there and a week later he passed away from parvo. We were broken hearted. They don't test for parvo there . So we're lost him. And I've also called to report animal neglect and no answer for two days. We get in trouble for neglect or abonment but they can't do there jobs. There not that busy not to help or pick up a phone . I'm a huge animal lover and have rescued aswell but no one to help.

They were great! My dog was lost and they posted his picture on their Facebook page and later that evening he was home safe and sound. I can't thank TH Animal Shelter enough for their kindness and help.

Called today to report that I had a another stray dog inside my fence. I had captured the dog and left it in a crate in my driveway. I was told that they could not pick it up because they didn't have a functioning vehicle?!?! I was informed that if I dropped it off after I got home from work and their office was closed, it would be considered "abandonment" .Two years ago, two stray dogs attacked my rabbit cages (I had to euthanize all the rabbits that the dogs didn't kill) and I began leaving phone messages before 8am and I never got a call back. I had to track down a cell number of one of the employees to come get the dogs.Three years ago, a stray dog got in my fence and killed a chicken. They came out with a tranquilizer gun and ONE dart. And missed.

We got our dogs winnie and rufus here and we love them. We tested them with the cat they had there and they fit in really well with our house. Love being able to give the animal shelter dogs and cats a good home :)

In January of 2018,my ex boyfriend and I were searching for a furkid we stopped in to see what kinds of doggos they had.We were greeted by a very friendly & nice man.We told him what type of dog we thought would fit our lifestyle.He told us he had the perfect one for us and he introduced us to a pit mix,named Bullet.He was a very smart and versatile guy and it turned out to be the best friend for us and he loves to go anyplace and everyone who meets him just loves him!! Thank you for having Bullet!!!

There are some volunteers that really work hard to help the animals and find then homes. But my experience with aube of the higher up people that get paid sucked. Not going into detail on reasonings. The 3 stars are for those awesome volunteers.

Nice staff, animal kennels were clean, they had toys to play with, and they even have a place in the back for em to run around. One of the guys there even put in a real fire hydrant for them to pee on! xD
