Really blown away by anyone who gives this place over a 1 star. The Alfredo was all water no flavor. The rare steak is medium well, the fries look like they was cooked in oil from 4 weeks ago. We will never stop here again thank god it’s a one time stop for a ball game 😳 also since when do customers get to go behind the bar and make their own drinks & fill to go cups with beer straight from the tap ?

Such a great culinary experience for my whole family... located in the Big South Fork Scenic Railway terminal! Great decor and local artisan shops. Grab a great meal before your train ride! Fried green tomatoes appetizer, 3 entrees (all delicious, especially the homemade Mac & cheese).... finished by 3 desserts (holy cow cake and cheesecake chimis are to die for and worth the trip alone!) Prices are very reasonable and service was impeccable (thank you Meghan!) Dine-in is available. Will be back tomorrow for the daily special!

After our train ride, we stopped in and ate lunch here. It was absolutely amazing! The service was good. The food was great! We got a sampler appetizer with fried green tomatoes, mozzarella sticks, and fried pickles. I got the catfish, which was a very large piece. The coleslaw was a little dry, but it was still good. I try the coleslaw everywhere I go and theirs actually was really good compared to most places. I got loaded fries as a side. They were great! My fiance got the chicken breast. He said it was really tender and tasted really good. He got mashed potatoes, which could have had some butter in them. Overall, we had an excellent dining experience and I would totally recommend it. I would definitely go back.

Excellent food, an awesome waitress, and a great overall atmosphere. The steak, fries, and broccoli I had were all on point- and I don’t often go out of my way to praise broccoli. The waitress offered me a second beer right before closing time - if not already after - and though I declined, I appreciated the gesture. Most places I’ve been to around closing time have been quick to hand me the check & get me out the door - which I totally understand - but, it was cool to feel welcome. If not for living in NH, I’d be here on the regular.

3/31/19Our server was wonderful!However our experience was not!My mashed potatoes I ordered were barely warm. No bread came with the meal.My husband amd I fought a fly the whole time we were there.And prices were higher. Food choices had changed.We used to enjoy going to the Whistle Stop but not now. Doubtful we'll go back!

I've been here a few times, the last time was for our 10 year hs reunion. this place is always really clean and nice. I really like the cook shes hilarious. Great place, good food. The drinks are a little pricey for the area in my opinion. They dont have many options for beer, They do have liquor though.

We stopped here while visiting somewhere else. The food was great. We got a variety of meals, including burgers and chicken tenders. Do not be confused by the tenders. These chicken tenders are huge.The only takeaway was that they were understaffed for the number of customers they had and the service suffered.

I had originally rated this place 5 stars, the food and atmosphere is really good! Friendly staff and good service. But they recently started charging $1 for a glass of water....lol don't think I'll be back! It seems that the place is so tight or maybe losing business, either way, what a turn off....My advice: sneak a bottle of ur own water in, at least then it's not $1 for tap water! Smh

Visited on 6-11-2023 . My mother and I got baked potatoes with our meal , mine was not cooked and hers was cold , waitress snapped that was the only 2 baked potatoes they had and if I wanted to wait 6-7 minutes they would microwave more , I declined since we had been waiting so long and were the only people in the restaurant. Asked to substitute mashed potatoes, they were horrible , tasted like instant potatoes out of a box . Son in law got catfish , slaw and fries and FOOD Poisoning. Horrible food and service . Should return our money truthfully .

Visited this wonderful restaurant with my girlfriend and mother. There was plenty of seating and proper spacing. We chose the window seating with a view of the trains and related structures. The food was excellent quality, large portions and affordably priced. I ordered the sirloin tips with baked potato and coleslaw. The tips and sides were excellent. My girlfriend and mom were also very satisfied with their meals(Pork Chops and Burger). These large meals for 3 came to about 35$.

Staff is nice so I hate to post a negative review but the food is atrocious. Absolutely terrible and we are not picky. We overheard another table complaining about the food so we know it wasn’t just us. The hamburger meat was just bad, no flavor and had a bad aftertaste. Mashed potatoes tasted like they went bad or were made with spoiled cream, just rancid and sour and overly salted. The peppers and onions that came on my “hamburger steak” weren’t even cooked, the green peppers were barely warmed through and so crunchy. They ran out of coke and Mac and cheese after we had already ordered, which was probably for the best because the people behind us complained that the macaroni tasted like “watered down noodles” lol. The breading on the chicken and fries tasted like they were cooked in old oil. The only good thing was the house salad, it was edible. Again, I hate to leave a bad review because the waitress was super nice but the food was just the worst.

We were coming from out of town and got caught in traffic on the way to the Polar Express. We wanted to eat at the Whistle Shop since it was so close. We called ahead to see if we could order ahead. When we got there they seated us and got our food to us quickly! They were so helped and nice. This meant alot that they helped us eat and get on the train quickly! Super cool of them. Food and environment was nice.

Good prices, friendly service. We had the starter and pick two entree (spaghetti and meatballs and sirloin steak) for $26. We enjoyed every bite. The train ride was pretty good, although we thought the performers could have done better, but I guess you shouldn't really compare them to the movie with cgi characters and Tom Hanks as conductor.

We had the grilled catfish plate for lunch and it was excellent. The beer was good and cold. Rachel was our server and she was most pleasant and attentive. A great value for food and service. We'll definitely be back.

The food was amazing. We got sirloin tips cooked medium and they were on point. Sides were awesome. The $1.99 Monday Margarita was perfection. It tasted like homemade.... not just tequila with some sweet and sour mix. Definitely will return there again.
