Family affair in Salvisa was great. Talked to the chef, Beth, and she put biscuits in her stewed tomatoes. Mind blown. She and another cook were very open to talk about the dishes. Soup beans were excellent. catfish was light and crunchy. Pleasant all around. Been mentioned a turkey Sunday supper that I will be trying soon. Biscuits in the cornbread dressing!! Excited

I just want to give a shout out to Paula and her staff! They do our Wednesday night meals @forksofelkhornpastist. They do such a great job, always good food. This last one, our Holiday Meal last night (for Thanksgiving and Christmas), was also delicious! Her stuffing/dressing is awesome. So, if you are thinking of ordering from them, you won't be disappointed. The BEST thing - the 7 layer salad! I had it for "dessert" last night, even though they have great desserts as well.

I always get the fried catfish dinner with home fries when I come here. The batter/breading on the catfish is very unique and flavorful. I also love the large proportions they give you (when you order from the menu instead of the buffet) because I can take home lots of leftovers. Sometimes I can make three whole meals from their portions but I know I will always get at least two. This restaurant gives major mom and pop, hole in the wall vibes. They always let me substitute the salad that comes with the catfish for dessert from the buffet. I appreciate that a lot since I am a picky eater who loves dessert and I don’t really eat salad.

We ate here as part of a large group because reservations were required. We were seated at 1:20 for the lunch buffet that was supposed to open at 1:30. No one took our drink orders for more than 10 minutes. You could not just go to the buffet, they called individual groups to come up so it was after 2:00 before we were called up. The first parts of the bar were desserts, set with random broccoli casseroles. There was some type of dressing but it was mush. For meats there was a really dry shredded turkey, sliced country ham, and some other ham in a gloopy pineapple sauce. It was all luke warm. The other sides were dehydrated mashed potates, canned grean beans that were swimming, sweet potato casserole, some type of oyster casserole, canned corn, and some mushy pre bought rolls. Everything was luke warm and really salty. The facilities are in really poor shape and need serious repair. There is no handicapped parking and the bathrooms are single occupant, not handicap accessible either. The last health inspection had a B rating. With an hour and a half total time limit from seating until you have to leave, and bland, unappealing food I have to give a hard pass from now on

If you want great home cooking, then you should definitely stop by and see these fine people. The food is always good no matter if you have the buffet or order from the menu.

I've read all the reviews. Everyone has a different experience depending on the day, what's on the buffet, who's cooking or who's waiting on you. Each time I've ate lunch here and it's been more than a few over the past 25 + years, I've had a very good experience. The food was good whether off the food bar or off the menu. I know the owner. She's a hardworking woman and would always want her customers to have the best experience possible. Like all restaurants, there are some things that could always be a little better, that's why it's not a 5 star, but for my part, I've never been disappointed. My only advice, is go when they are busy. That's when you will get the best service and the best food. You may have to wait a bit, don't go if you are in a hurry and they are busy. There are only so many hands in a locally owned restaurant. And I also advise that if you are not happy with your food or your service, ask to talk with the manager or owner. They can't know your experience or satisfaction unless you tell them and if they are the type that pays attention, they will fix it!

Small buffet with delicious home cooking. I highly recommend the salmon patties along with the beans and cornbread! There was a salad bar and several desserts to choose from. Even though it was a very busy day due to the annual 127 Yardsales, we were still seated quickly, and the waitress was polite and attentive. Cook came out and talked to each table.Very friendly, clean family restaurantParking: Large, gravel parking lotKid-friendliness: Kid friendly, family atmosphereWheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair access to building without steps

If you care about staying safe from Covid-19, this is not the place for you. I saw many employees walking around without masks. The host said they had a medical condition that prevented them from wearing a mask and had no problem serving us our food. the person I assume was the chef wasn't wearing a mask either. several people came to stock the buffet without a mask. They had brownies sitting in the middle of the restaurant with no cover. Many violations happened here.No food is worth risking Covid for.

We went to eat there, and it was expensive. Like $14 a person plus drinks! Had a unclean bathroom, Yuck.. Also there was hair in my mashed potatoes. Also when I was in there i noticed it was all elderly people no young and everyone was talking. The sweet tea definitely needed alot more water aswell and the food was cold and made me a little sick after eating jt.Vegetarian options: I do not know

Food was food, nothing to write home about, but it wasn't terrible. Service was usual for a buffet. My husband and I were talking about coming back another day to try a different meat. We stood up to leave and 2 young, well dressed black men walked in, they checked out the buffet and chatted for a minute before leaving, I'm guessing they weren't all to impressed with the options either. I ran to the bathroom while my husband paid, I heard somebody hollering from the dining room, I came out and we left. My husband was highly upset, I asked why, turns out that the hollering was from another man who either works there or is just a regular, he came right in the door and yelled "what we ain't got nothing for the brothers?, there's fried chicken on the bar, I can go get some watermelon, or catch em a chicken and cut it up for em". After hollering loud enough for me to hear him from the bathroom, another table of regulars joined in on the laugh, while the cashier/service told him to "stop it justin" laughingly. Quite frankly, it doesn't matter if he was an employee or regular customer, this behavior is vulgar and ignorant, and should not be laughingly acceptable in any public place, especially a place where families are meant to be accepted. 2 stars for the food, but we would never return, especially with our family.

Absolutely horrible from the waitress to the food. Very small buffet for the price, food was ice cold, corn bread was hard as a rock, beans are from a can, and nothing but fish for meat. I don't eat fish! No one asked us how our meal was, if we needed drink refills, or anything else. $35 for two buffets, 1 tea, and 1 water. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE BEFORE YOU WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY!!!!

We have tried to eat there several times as it is convenient to us. We've ordered from both the buffet and the menu. After about 4 or 5 times we have finally given up. Each time we both had upset stomachs after eating there. The salisbury steak on the buffet was swimming in congealed greasy gravy and the meatloaf was not edible. The staff has never been friendly. We are no longer giving the benefit of a doubt because each time we have the same experience. I highly DO NOT recommend this eatery. It is worth spending a few minutes more and go a little farther for a good home cooked meal in our area. Family Affair is not it.

We had a wedding catered yesterday, and they really helped to make the event. They brought everything in, set up the serving area, had plates napkins and silverware, drinks, served the food, kept everything fresh and topped off. After, The bout all the leftovers in bags, cleaned everything up, and even did some of the dishes. It was great, easy, and did I mention the food was excellent!!!!

Great food but service and atmosphere were horrible. Not one employee welcomed us, smiled, asked how we were doing, do you need a refill, nothing. ... I literally left a tip as thanks for reminding me to never come back. 20 years ago this place was THE place to eat. Very sad.

Very good place to eat with a family type atmosphere. Had buffet and menu service. (Husband and I both had buffet and drink; total was 27.00 excluding tip) service left a little to be expected, husband had to find server (on her phone at the cash register) and ask for refills. Not sure of the service structure but we were told to tip in a basket by the register, when I did tip cash, while the card was waiting for approval the server picked up the money and unfolded it to count it and then placed back in basket. The food quality does outweigh the unprofessional service quality.

Had the Dinner buffet. It's hot, fresh, and plentiful. The banana pudding was still warm from the homemade meringue. The meatloaf was a little sweet for my liking, but still flavorful and moist. You gotta try the cat fish when available on thr buffet. The staff was friendly and available for your dining needs. I would highly recommend stopping in if ya ain't in a hurry.

This is the best restaurant around. Service is friendly and personable. And the food is great. To u can't go wrong with Catfish or biscuits and gravy. And the buffet has something for everyone.

Today's visit wasn't as good as normal. Usually the food is fresh, flavorful, and presented very well. Today however, a lot of the food was dried out, and old, and did not have very good flavor. The selection was limited today, and again this is not usual for this location. I'm only giving them two stars for today's visit, and hopefully in the future when I return, they will have improved, if not, I will put my final rating in for this facility and never visit again.

We only get to eat here once a year during the 127 yard sale. The place never disappoints. The team is always smiling 😃 and willing to give that southern hospitality that no where else on earth 🌎 you can find! The food is wonderful, no matter if its the beans, the fish 🐟 or the chicken 🐔! Try it and you will like it!

Good home style cooking with a buffet and full menu. Friendly wait staff make you feel like you're dining with family. Prices are reasonable. Its in a weird, out of the way location, but if you're ever passing by it is definitely worth the stop!

Worse place to eat!! Ordered the Ribeye dinner, steak was cold, sides tasteless! Mashed potatoes and gravy came without gravy, green beans had absolutely no flavor!! My daughter ordered the kid’s cheeseburger with ketchup only, they ran it through the garden 3 times, ruined it for her, unfortunately our dogs got it. They offered her to get her sides off of their dried out buffet and then decided that her 3 little sides which were 2 canned peach slices, cottage cheese and a lil bit of salad and that cost $10.00 so a $30 meal for a 10 yr old girl and mother!!! I’ll never eat there again! They got the last $$ out of me that they are going to get!!!

A great place for comfort food. Buffet style and well made. Their all-you-can-eat catfish is well worth the visit, I believe its every Friday night. I've never left there hungry!

My wife is in a wheelchair and I must use a walker. The staff herlped us get into a table, brought us food from the buffet and bent over backwards to help us. I put my money where my mouth was and tipped 70%. Wonderful food, supreme service... It was a bargain and excellent experience.

50 minutes after taking our order the waitress finally came back to let us know they ran out of one of the things we ordered and we had to ask her if they had even started on our food (of course the answer was no). Like just come tell us wayy sooner if you haven’t even started on it my dudes.. instead of letting us sit there making it so much worse.
