I grew up in the hills of WV, on Saturday nights we would listen to the country and Bluegrass music out of Oak hill, WV. Later on I started playing the Banjo.

Closed during the week, but on weekends the barn takes in the bluegrass, country picks of the yesteryear of time. Square dancing and seeing natural instruments fro the country sure is possible. Take a trip back to memory lane as time from the past meets with present.

Great food and great service. The ribs were very meaty, the catfish was very flavorful with just the right amount of breading. The onion rings were more onion than breading, which is how I like them. They feed you enough for 2 meals. Our waitress, aka Boots, was friendly, attentive and very engaging in conversation and suggestions. The atmosphere is very country, so don't dress up, come casual. I'll definitely be back.

Prices and food are phenomenal!! The friday night music by the locals started May 7 and continues thru the summer to my knowledge.. I believe they start between 6 and 7. Haven't been there for that but we will!!

Tonight Jack Dixon won't be at the show to sing. He d been asked to come back, but too far to drive in this fog just in case some one else throws him out again. So in his best interest I talked him into not going down there tonight. He has many other places he can sing and play where he is appreciated and wanted. No jealousy

Finally, Iv'e been going across the country listening to what others are booking as bluegrass only to find out its country. NOT HERE, ITS REAL BLUEGRASS and some country too including a few gospel tunes where the audiance is invited to sing along. So nice to hear some banjo, mando and fiddle that could fly and burn up the strings, oh and lets not forget the three part harmony too, that's all part of it. The people there, home folk, were really nice, said hi, thanks for coming and invited us to a major concert in Sept. but unfortunately we need to be back over the rockies before snow sits in or we would stay. FIR SURE!Out of all the towns we have been in, this is one place I will miss and wish to come back to the most.

A great place to visit , it was started in Bratchers store in the early 90s run by Hoyt and Eleanor Bratcher With 5 musicians picking in the store after closing. The crowd and the musicians grew so large they out grew the store in a few years. A group was formed called The Country Store Pickers, they leased a old barn next door that needed restoration. The Bratchers with a group of supporters restored the barn and put a stage, a confession stand, and a dance floor, also seating to take care of 100 people and restrooms. Some of the well know stars in Bluegrass Music are Mac Wiseman, John Hartford, The Sullivan Family, Country Current United States Navy Band and Bill Monroe played at the Barn twice and several musicians that played with Bill have also played at the Barn. The last time that Bill played at the Barn was Sept. 1995 just after his birthdays he passed a few days before his next birthday A bust was unvailed on stage reconising Bill Monroe as the father of Bluegrass Music and he ate that day at a restaurant across the street Called The Old Country Kitchen ran by Hoyt and Eleanor Bratcher

Great food and excellent atmosphere. The barbecue is great but you need to try the smashed taters as a side. Definitely going to be a stop after church on Sundays.
