Prestonsburg Food City has been a constant anchor in my memory and the bar that I use to judge other stores of its type. It is a smaller chain of course than Kroger or Albertsons.Of course all stores have suffered in recent years in the service department, this location seems to have suffered less. Only real concern here is typical with smaller well stocked stores, that being tighter aisles and sharp turns. Seems like the standard layout and stocking strategy though.

Don’t order balloons from the floral department or even have yours blown up there. I wasted $49 on birthday balloons not including what I spent to have them ordered only for it to be a waste. Couldn’t untangle the balloons, or get pictures. I spoke to the florist and explained how I wanted each balloon bouquet. Two day notice even. She did that great. I explained how having a trash bag will help keep them separated and she suggested taping it towards the top. To keep it all together and easy to untangle. That didn’t happen. The balloons had no tape, no separation and I could not separate them. I had no time to take from the party to sort this out. I just learned a valuable lesson to just buy your own helium tank. Do things yourself because others don’t care what you spend or how it affects you.

I ordered a custom cake over the phone with someone in the bakery. They didn't have it when I went to pick it up. Needless to say, I was beyond angry! Just when I was about to give them a piece of my mind, the manager, Adam, spoke up and saved the day! Not only did he give me a free cake, but he gave my daughter a large stuffed animal! He was so extra nice. He turned a nightmare into a wonderful experience with Food City! I appreciated his kindness and excellent customer service!

Ordered chicken nuggets and a patty melt on doordash hours before close. After an hour of waiting and 2 doordashers later, I had to call 4 times to get through to the deli, and the employee told me they had seen my order, but they weren't going to make it because someone was on break? Another call back to the store manager on shift and he claimed they had nothing to do with doordash. Don't waste your time ordering from the deli, apparently they are lacking in staff and can't handle it. Don't call me a Karen, they were inept.

The Food City in Prestonsburg, KY is normally a good grocery store, however today I had a bad experience. The 2 guy employees at the customer service didn't ask me and my girlfriend if we needed help. Well we did; I had n unopened PayPal card in my hand and my 37 year old girlfriend asked the long haired guy working there for help, he looked straight at us like we disturbed him, then ignored us, and walked back towards the deli away from the register. It was a younger employee. I tried to go to self checkout, wasn't helped this time, got frustrated and left. Then they helped my girlfriend right after I left. Total junk customer service I received. I work a restaurant job for $12 an hour, and I would've been fired if I disrespected, or completely ignored a customer they way they did me. I'll never go back there; I've been going there to shop as long as it's been open, and this is the first time this has happened. Complete junk service, not by the women employees either. Do your job people, come on.

I GO Shop here quite often lottery machine is always messed up not operateing. !:( But the store is always clean & well stocked with products & produce !:) Management is always on point helpful anytime i had questions or concerns ?!:)

After ordering two hot sandwiches from the menus we waited 20 mins no food went to the counter to ask if it would be ready soon and they said another 15 mins absolutely ridiculous customer service is a zero common sense zero if you have one person who can cook or do orders and they are on break DONT take an order and let the customer know.

It saddens me how much more expensive items are in this store. Go to Lexington and Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s are cheaper for far better quality food. People in this lovely small town deserve betterThe only reason I make myself shop here is for the convenience. I wish I had better options closer by.

Great selection. The food is hit or miss depending on what time you get there. Meaning how long the food stays under heat lamps.Awesome salad bar. Having a Starbucks is a plus.

Great grocery store, usually has the normal fair with some of the more exotic items that are not that common ingredients in this area. Coolest thing is that if they don't have it but can get it, they'll order it for you. Their meat department is the same way. They ordered my wife and I several types of meat that they don't normally carry and they cut their meat at the store and not in some factory offsite. Great store, like it better than any other bigger grocery store in this area.

Thanksgiving dinner from deli was great. While line was long folks were in a festive mood. Staff was pleasant and did a good job getting our orders to us. Thanks to them and to Food City for making our family gathering a success.

Best grocery store ever! Kind knowable employees. Very clean and organized. Fresh food and you can trust them to not sell expired food. Can't wait to go back.

The selection here is impeccable! Food City is our favorite place to go for everything we need from fresh produce and fresh herbs not available at any of our other local grocery stores. Their deli selection is fantastic! Customer service is outstanding, and it certainly doesn't hurt that you can save a bundle with their Value Card! The store is always clean, checkout is fast and there are employees always available to help.

Very clean and well stocked store! The deli & produce area has everything you can possibly want. (Even fresh live lobsters & large seafood selections). I was highly impressed. The prices are slightly higher than other grocery stores but not by much. I wish they had more check out lines or at least more self check outs for faster service but overall I will definitely go back again! ***They do not have the live lobsters anymore! All seafood is frozen & thawed now.***

The store is always a welcome event for groceries. Staff were a bit preoccupied today in the meat department as well as with stocking of supplies. Checkout was pleasant and products were pretty well supplied on the shelves.
