From a purely historical standpoint, it's cool that this monument is in the middle of nowhere KY honoring the confederacy's only president. This structure is impressively massive, and the park lands are very nice. Small museum behind the structure and elevator inside the monument when it's operational. Some folks put a lot of money into this back in the day.. I hope I'm not paying for it now.

It's a beautiful area with an interesting monument to a person and moment of history. Was closed without indicating why. Could still walk around and read the information. Suggest looking up information before heading out. Nice park for a picnic or just to relax a bit.

Was driving along the roadway and spotted a massive obelisk jutting into the sky.It wasn’t a planned destination but we couldn’t pass it up.It’s a wild monument to the president of the Confederate States.

It was a spur of the moment decision to swing by as we were looking for a place to stretch our legs during a long drive. Even though it was a ways out of the way, we decided to check it out. Imagine our surprise to find a 351 ft beautiful obelisk poking out of the Kentucky countryside. The lady in the visitor's center took the time to tell us all about the history of the site and Jefferson Davis even though it was minutes before closing. We even got a decorative magnet to remember our visit.I highly recommend making the trip out there to see it.

With all the madness about monuments I've kinda made point to go seeing and taking kids to learn about those around us just in case one day they are gone. It's amazing how this is well kept the people are really nice and sweet. They have tons of knowledge. Kids really enjoyed the playground out in the back, kinda cool swinging on the swings wit the monument right there. The museum is small but, educational.

Beautiful 😍 place, the person who guides the tour to go up the elevator to the tower tells the story of Jeferson and does it with such passion that it seems that you are watching it in a movie. If you have the opportunity to get to know this place and these people, do it. Excellent service also in the store, they also sell very nice souvenirs

The visitor center/museum is interesting and there are some nice period artifacts. The video of the building of the monument is VERY interesting. The two ladies working the day we visited were nice, accommodating, and knowledgeable about the site and its history. The ride to the observation level of the monument is pretty cool and the view is OUTSTANDING.Regardless of how you feel about Jefferson Davis and the war between the states, this man should not be defined or melined by a five year period of his life. Had the federal government not pushed the southern states to leave the union Davis may well have been president of the united States.Bethel Baptist church sits on the site of Davis' birth place. There is a story behind it that you will discover in the muaeum.Take the time to study the man and his life as a whole before you make up your mind. Try learning from the past instead of rewriting it or destroying it.

Stumbled upon this site in 1968 while posted at Ft. Campbell after returning from Vietnam. On a drive with friends through the beautiful Kentucky countryside, the monument suddenly appeared above the trees, so, we stopped to investigate. There was not much else there, as there now is, but the view from the top was dramatic. I'm surprised that it'e still there, considering the state of politics, nowadays! My initial experiences in the South those days in the military was that I saw a lot of still-lingering southern hostilities such as this monument honoring those who tried to tear the US apart (again, it is politics, with a former, corrupt US President now leading the pack!). Fortunately, we are still a united country.

A rather interesting state park located at the site of the birthplace of Jefferson Davis. Though Davis is remembered as a Mississippian, he was born here before soon moving to Mississippi. The obelisk on the site is the largest unreinforced concrete structure in the world, and one can’t help point out the similarities between this and the Washington Monument, two obelisks for first presidents of American nations. There is a small museum with a small entrance fee (a discount on that and going up the monument exists for military and US government). There is also a little shop selling everything from General Lee mugs to prints of paintings, to books by Booker T. Washington.Outside the visitor’s centre, there is a WC, many park benches, a playground, and open field where one can recreate. I think it’s worth a visit for history folks and regulars alike. It was cool to see people coming together and enjoying themselves, not frothing at the mouth because of politics or correctness. Cheers.

Visited today, we wanted to take the little tour but it was $6 per person. I'm not sure it was worth that so we skipped it. Other than that, it was neat.

This is a really neat landmark to stop by! The park itself is pretty and it's in a quiet residential area. The museum and the elevator to the top were closed, but that didn't take away from how beautiful the monument is. There are some nice plaques that you can check out to get an idea of the story behind this historical spot!

History is history and regardless of which side people were on during the civil war, it is still part of America's history. Now with that being said, this is a pretty cool site to visit. Unlike the Washington monument, you can travel in an elevator to the top and see about 9 miles from three different windows. The elevator ride is fairly slow but the guide is informative and tells you a lot during the ride. My children are afraid of heights but even they enjoyed going to the top of this 300 plus monument.

Affordable museum price ($6) the monument was closed due to the elevator having work done but when I visited a few years ago it was nice. Gentleman working there was very knowledgeable and excited about history!! Fantastic gift shop options I bought a couple books and postcards...will visit again no doubt!!

Wonderful stop. This is a very well put together monument. David Smith was very helpful, he knew all about the history of the monument. Unfortunately the monument opens on April 1st, so I was not able to go up inside of it. I was told that from the top you can see for about 9 miles. This place is very well run, if you are in the area it is worth the stop.

Even though I live in KY it is still one of my favorite places to go visit at different times of the year. It's just a beautiful place and drive. The museum has so much information it's great to know that's here in KY.
