I took in a stray earlier this year, an older intact male. Did not have a big budget for him but wanted to make sure he was healthy. He went in for a neuter/vaccs, they also trimmed his nails and cleaned his teeth (they were in very very poor shape). Sent home with pain meds and antibiotics. It was a huge financial help to me, and a relief to have a healthy dog.

If I could give less than 1 star and be able to leave a review, I most definitely would. This is probably one of the worst places for any animal to be -- if I didn't have to return the kitten I got from them to them, due to a clause in their contract, I would have rather her to Lexington Humane Society or give her to someone who could have cats/kittens (unfortunately my apartment turned into a no animals allowed unless it's a service animal). They aren't honest with you about the cats/kittens whether you call the humane society or whether you call petsmart. We adopted a kitten and her whole face got bloated, her eyes were red and watery, swollen, and she was sneezing hardcore. I don't usually own cats so I called and asked them about it, they were completely clueless. "yeah, maybe some dust got in her face and she started sneezing." Puh-lease. I was born at night, but not last night. I googled and used tik tok and found out she had a respiratory infection. So I had to use more money to go help her out because the vet said that she has had it since she was born so it would be a reoccurring thing, but PAWS told me that she was perfectly healthy. I then found out I had to return her because of my apartment no longer being pet friendly, and I could not get grandfathered in even tho I had asked. They were so hard to get ahold of until I finally could and I asked if we could pay cash or card, they said either. I told them I didn't get paid for a couple days after I drop off, is there any extra fees? They told me no, then told my partner once they got there, it was 13 dollars, with the card fee and if "we didn't have it, then we had to take her back."Despicable place.PETSMART should get rid of their partnership or whatever they have with them. And someone should probably go close them down.Never EVER adopt from them or take your animals there.Horrible people who work there with no empathy and horrible environment for animals.

My mom had her dog fixed here and he ripped his stitches and was bleeding. They wouldn't help us. So I don't recommend this place.

!!!!!!BE WARE OF HELPING ANIMALS BU BRINGING THEM TO THIS SHELTER!!!!!!Extremely horrible and horrid staffing. My husband and I were in the way home from an emergency visit to UK children’s hospital, when my already ill son began vomiting and choking, not knowing where or when a dog approached OUR car, instead of leaving it, we called the shelter in order to explain to them, we were then told to bring the dog in. My son, still vomiting and choking had to be put back in the car seat and removed serval times due to vomiting again, all while still being pulled over just trying to bring the dog to the shelter. After arriving and realizing we drove to the wrong building I had to walk down the rest of the driveway, I waited at the door and was told I would have to fill out a spread sheet and still have my ID, at this point my energy was in my son and son alone, for the staff to claim they “understood” they clearly didn’t as he screamed and was covered in vomit; they did however, not only attempted to contact law enforcement due to “abandonment” on a animal that was never owned by myself regardless of their beliefs, because my son needed to go BACK to the hospital. They then took a picture on their PERSONAL cell phone of my license plate number, which was not deleted. For what reason? They NEVER explained no matter what was asked, so exactly why was all of this needed???Be ware of being helpful to animals because it will come at some form of a cost on you. Do better and actually help animals and stop trying to force blame on those who are helping.BE MINDFUL OF HELPING ANIMALS AND THIS SHELTER!!!!!Their reply is INACCURATE as she used her CELL phone my husband and my self watched as she did so, as the dog WAS NOT MINE I had no need to worry about “abandonment.” Which is exactly what was told to them, they then threatened with the police. DO BETTER especially since you were CALLED and told about this PRIOR to arriving, so why was it not explained that you would need a valid ID? DO BETTER. Because as stated I MULTIPLE times it was an emergency situation when I left my home so I had NO ID which was explained, but your disrespectful Employee made the decision to take a photo on their PHONE because they didn’t give me the correct information on what was needed? No. Do BETTER. Also the paper work WAS filled out, so WHAT refusal, since it was completed?? Extremely UNPROFESSIONAL shelter that “cares” so deeply. DO. BETTER.

While the workers at Hamburg were nice, the shelter workers were not.We called the shelter multiple times to try to set up an appointment to see/ adopt the kitten we had applied for at pet smart. When they finally did answer, we were told they called our landlord several times, but couldn't get through: but once they got confirmation, the animal was ours. Upon asking the landlord about it they showed me the call logs- none from the shelter. we tried calling from their phone, as well as my partners (both numbers they had on file). It rang once then went to voicemail. After calling from my phone (not on file), they answered immediately and spoke to the landlord. They called back 2 hours later to say they had finally reached our landlords, but that now there is a stipulation to getting our pet. they said that he had become 'bonded' to another animal and wouldn't let him be adopted without the other. Thing is, in Pet Smart, he was alone, and the worker there said he preferred it that way . Either way, I said we were only looking into getting one pet. The shelter worker said that our application is denied then, and to have a good day, then hung up on me. What she didn't allow me to say is that we didn't have an issue getting both, but that I would have to contact the landlord and my partner to see if that's an option for us..... I'm not going through the trouble of contacting them again since this is how they treat potential adopters, by blatantly lying and being rude.

We were at Petsmart in Hamburg on 19 june 2022. We adopted 3 kittens from the Paris animal shelter. As I was filling out the paperwork I had to ask the male representative to please keep people from touching the kittens. There was at least a mom and her daughter who kept touching them and a group of 3 who also touched them during this time. The kittens had not been dewormed as we were told as they had tape worms we found out the day after we got them. and they were diagnosed with ringworm earlier this week. All those people who touched the kittens may now be infected along with all the other animals those people all touched just in our line of sight. And anyone else who had touched them or their pets they had brought in with them before we came in.When I called to let Paris animal shelter know they did not get back to me till the next day and told me they were sorry but it wasn’t their fault. They had gotten the kittens from someone else But the Paris animal shelter are the ones who had possession of the kittens and it was their paperwork I signed to adopt the kittens. They are the responsible party. I was also never informed the kittens had supposedly come from anyone but the Paris animal shelter.Ringworm is hard to get rid of. It will take at least 6 weeks of treatment and constant cleaning and sanitizing. All of the other animals the Paris animal shelter had there that day were also exposed at least by those who had to touch the kittens and then go on to touch the other kittens and dogs. And now my husband, myself and the cats and dogs all have to be monitored to make are we have not already been infected. My advice is to find someone else to adopt a pet from. We are looking at hundreds if not thousands of dollars in vet bills, cleaning supplies, and the furniture and rugs we have had to throw away due to the Paris animal shelter not being responsible and making sure the kittens had not been exposed and did not keep the other animals or people from being exposed.

Just an FYI: On petfinder they'll list that the dog is in Frederick, MD but really the dog is in Kentucky and will be transported to Frederick. This to me is a red flag. Advertise the dogs in KY, not Maryland.
