Really cute historic cottages. Room was clean and stocked - no housekeeping service during the stay but that worked fine for us for a short 3 day stay. Location for the park tours was really great. Nice and quiet, great view of stars at night.Nearby activities: Not too much dining nearby, about a 10-15 minute drive for dining options not directly at the lodge.Walkability: Great location right by the visitor center and lodge dining options.

It was nice to stay on the property. Rooms were old, but clean. TV and wi-fi. Staff was very nice. Doing the tours was easy since we were next to the meeting point. The only downside is that you are not close to shopping or restaurants. ThereIs a cafe and restaurant on property, starbucksand gift shops also. We saw deer in the parking lot at night. Walking trails everywhere. There are small cabins you can stay at also but no TV or wi-fi. We will be back.

If I could give 0 stars I would. The door barely closed. The walls and ceilings were covered in bugs and spiders. EVERY corner of the room had cobwebs. The floor was dirty. Dirt, leaves, and even a candy wrapper. There was someone's socks in a drawer. I don't think they really clean these rooms at all. It cost us more than we have paid to stay at WAY nicer spots. They didn't offer any refund or anything when we told them how bad the room was. They acted like they weren't surprised. I'd rather sleep in a tent than stay there again.

We stayed in a cabin right next to the visitors center for 1 night. After reading reviews and staying there myself, I must say people need to have realistic expectations on where they are staying. You are in a cabin in the middle of a national park for a lodge that has a 1 star rating. There will be bugs, and the rooms will be a little dingy. You are paying for location, and not super clean rooms. The checkin staff was very nice and even allowed us to check in at 10am which was great! In my opinion the cabin itself was cute, rustic, and a little beat up, which was fine because I expected that. The bed was uncomfortable and my back was sore when I woke up. If you hate spiders the cabins are not for you! There was a spider on our bed when we arrived, as well as a couple of other random dead bugs. I expected bugs but hated to see a spider on my bed, but again you are in an old cabin in the middle of a national park. My biggest problem was that I woke up with multiple bites on my legs and I’m pretty sure it was fleas. I found one on me after I left the cabin and the pics on google look exactly like my bites. If you’re ok with bugs and want the convenience of walking to the cave entrance or hiking trails from where you are staying then this is the place for you. Otherwise you better stay at a hotel a little further out. I gave a rating of 3 stars because of the location and the friendliness of staff.

I stayed in the Woodland Cottages, so your experience might be different. The rooms were dusty and obviously not cleaned well. There was dirt and debris on the floor when I first entered. Under the beds was so dusty it looked like nobody swept under there for over a year. The caulking in the shower was brown and gross. And there was dust and cobwebs all over the walls that had obviously been there a long time. Not even in the rafters, but at eye level and below.

We are currently staying here and will be speaking to staff regarding the cleanliness of the room we are in. Dried urine around the base of the toilet, dust and along the baseboards and cobwebs in each corner of the ceiling. The air conditioning unit needs cleaning as well. The mini fridge is barely cold and our door handle is extremely loose.

This review is about the DOG KENNELS. First off, the lodge is being renovated so the check in is in a different location that’s not super intuitive. I suggest calling if you’re going to try it. If you do find it, you’ll fill out paperwork and show vaccination records (or try to email with no service-good luck!) and they’ll hand you a lock and key. Then you have to drive again to find the kennels. There are 10 outdoor kennels available. At least one was broken and 3 were dirty. I tried two other ones out and my dog escaped both. The gaps in the sides were too large for small dogs. I’m glad that I had only gotten back to the parking lot or he would have been gone forever in the park. If I had known the circumstances better beforehand, I would have left my furry friend at home. My suggestion is to plan your trip without your pet. Best case, you miss your tour, worst case your dog escapes forever.I do think this part is different than the rest of the lodge experience but I tried to find more info about the kennels at mammoth cave before our trip and wish I could have had this type of candid review then.

My family stayed at the cabins a few weeks ago, and left a few items. The Lodge was kind enough to find them, contact us, and they’re arranging for return shipping. We had a great time, the cabins are quaint & very cozy and service is outstanding!

Stayed here this summer for two nights and was pretty happy with the experience given the price. Would definitely go back, it was worth the visit. We were in one of the historic cottages. I accidentally added extra people to my online reservation and staff was quick to call me up and double check the details. The person checking us in was helpful. We had some issues with our door lock but we were able to figure it out. When we came into the cottage it was very humid and smelled a little musty, like mildew. But when we turned the AC on to dry mode it got rid of the excess humidity pretty quickly, and we got used to the smell as well. Everything was pretty clean. The bathroom was well stocked with soap, lotion, shampoo & conditioner (we had a shower too which I didn’t expect because I didn’t see it on the pictures online). Lots of room to store things for an extended stay. There’s a hair dryer, a mini fridge, and free coffee. Not a bad deal for $50 a night when split with another person.

This place was really really great. I've stayed at a lot of lodges in a lot of national parks and while this doesn't have the historic charm as some of the other ones we had all the amenities we needed. Beds were comfortable, plenty of hot water and we had the fastest internet of anywhere we stayed during our cross country trip. (Even through major cities.) There wasn't really a place to get food due to construction but once they are done the restaurant is right there with a quick walk to the visitor center.Room had a fridge with small freezer and a microwave. Roku tv was also there.

We really loved our stay at Mammoth Cave national park 'lodge'. note - It's not posh! it's a renovated 1950 era motel. it's wonderful dark sky area. It's beautifully quiet and peaceful. The beds were comfy, shower was hot. Staff was friendly. There are picnic tables outside. We purchased subs and salads at the camp store and food shack by the visitor center, then carried them to the tables and dined outside. The lodge is a mere 10 min walk to the cave visitor center. There are lovely walking trails. Oh, and we have ATT and had no cell service. This was great as it forced us to unplug from screens and plug into the family. Great stay, great place!

I debated not writing a review, but I feel people should be prepared for what they may get for what they're spending to book here...The website photos definitely make this place look so much better than it is. We was prepared for rustic, but nice, cozy cabin rustic. Instead, its just really run down. Our room door had a hard time opening and closing and had no weather seal at the bottom. There was about a 1/2" open air gap to the great outdoors. Which probably allowed in all the tiny spiders hanging out in the corners, as well as the big wasp and spider that was waiting for us front and center on the wall and who knows what else. While we were debating how to get rid of them, they entertained us with a death match. The room smelled like bleach, which we thought meant it was clean. I was willing to ignore the wasp and spider and cobwebs and door because stuff happens, but at least the room was clean. Then I started getting the bed ready and found hairs under the pillows/bedspread. At that point, we had no reason to believe the bedding was clean and that was the final strike. We left and found much better accommodations for the exact same price not far away. What they charge is absolutely not worth what you get.

We stayed in the historic cottages. Very cool and vintage. The water heater was new and worked well. The bed was comfortable and the pillows were nice. The staff that we interacted with were all very nice. The only thing that could be improved is having a fresh coat of paint interior and exterior of the cabin would make it look a little nicer.

Overall, the price combined with the location (so much is within walking distance from your door front) was the biggest advantage of staying at the lodge. The rooms have clearly been here for some time, but were clean and somewhat updated. The only issue I had was that the room did not have a microwave. I booked well in advance (as it was recommended to so), and sometime between booking and our visit the microwaves were removed from the rooms. This did cause an issue for us, as I had purchased and brought a lot of microwavable food items for our extended stay that I ultimately couldn't use. Again though, the price and location were a great bargain!

We decided to spend the weekend at Mammoth Cave and was really lucky to get the cabin near the visitor center. Rooms were basic but I just want a place to sleep. The shower had hot water and no issues with anything. Recommend getting tour tickets early because they sell out.I didn't spend anything for souvenirs but my wife did and not really overpriced. It was a nice way to spend the weekendI should have planned an overnight hike but oh well. It's a nice place

Rustic, but rooms were nice and clean. There are ceiling fans but would bring extra. We had 3 extra and it kept rooms cool at night and helped during the day. The location is extremely convenient if going into mammoth caves or hiking. We stayed at the Woodland cottages. Would definitely stay again!

My partner and I stayed in a Historic Cottage for a night for a weekend trip to Mammoth Cave. The front desk staff is very helpful and friendly. Making and even cancelling reservations is so easy (we booked another trip which we ended up having to cancel.) The cabin/cottage was quaint and adorable, with great natural light and a comfortable bed. Great A/C, clean room, nice furnishings, a minifridge. Only complaint would be that the showerhead was weirdly short.

The lodge was clean and spacious and right next to the visitor center. Even though there was no air conditioning in the woodland cottage, there was good airflow with the windows open and the ceiling fans on. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash is provided and the shower was nice and hot! The beds were very comfortable. We would definitely stay here again. Great value for the price!

The lodge was great. Food was good. Staff was friendly. Gift shop was large but expensive (not a surprise). We stayed in cottage 102. It got pretty cold (42 degrees) so it was definitely cold inside because there are no heaters. This was stated on their website though before booking so we weren't surprised. The cottage was a little dingy. Could use a good scrub with Mr. Clean from top to bottom but otherwise nice. Walls in cottages are paper thin so you can hear your neighbors.

I stayed at the Sunset Terrace rooms. Beds are extremely comfortable, and I thought it was nice that they gave bottled water in the rooms. The bathroom, while obviously a touch dated, was probably one of the cleanest bathrooms I have ever seen in a hotel setting. Hats off to their housekeeping staff. I thought the food at the lodge was excellent as well. I saw some reviews on here saying that the food is overpriced, but I didn't think it was at all. I didn't have a single bad meal during my stay there, and most of the time, I couldn't quite finish all of my meal. The staff was courteous and attentive, and I enjoyed every part of my stay in Mammoth. One of the best parts of my stay was being able to sit outside my room in the evenings and watch the deer graze right in front of me, and then watching the bats eat bugs by the streetlights once the sun went down. It was also nice to have the only sounds at night be the chirping of bugs and the occasional hoot of an owl. I will definitely be back!

Cottages could use some updating. The floor in front of our shower felt like it was going to fall through. But we enjoyed our stay here. It was so nice staying right at the park. The walks we took and all the trails we walked during the day/evening were just wonderful.

Great location, clean, dry room. Lots of potential , but it’s in DIRE need of updates… Bathroom door so warped it wouldn’t shut all the way, killed a huge spider on the bed soon as we got there. Luckily didn’t see any others, but we only stayed 1 night.

Eric the lodge manager was awesome and accommodating! He let me check in to my room early and hand delivered my ice right to my door. Room was comfortable and accessible to all the close hiking trails and visitors center. Deer bed down right next to my room, it was awesome! Make sure to head out on the heritage trail to catch a glimpse of all the friendly deer early in the morning, it doesn't dissapoint. Bathroom was wildly retro, I didn't hate it.

A nice step up from a tent. The cottage was cozy and comfortable with a small shower and separate small toilet room. Each room had it's own sink and one room had a mini fridge. The windows open let enough air in through the screens that when combined with the cieling fan, it was actually chilly at night. It was a little dusty but that's definitely to be expected, we'd stay here again.

There are a lot of positives of staying here, including location and price. The Historic Cottage we stayed in is getting very close to being inhabitable. It is very musty, the bathroom floor could fall through anytime, and water pressure is unreliable. It is very close to everything in the park, appeared to be relatively clean, and it is quiet. Good enough for a few overnights, but probably wouldn't come back.
