All in all, it is a shelter. I know what they experience every day is rough, and I’m sure they run across some horrible people. However, their attitude was awful. I had to surrender a kitty who showed up on my doorstep declawed and spayed. I searched high and low for her owners and couldn’t find her. Months go by and she refused to get along with my cats. I understand. I wanted the best life for her. I tried so hard to find her a family with someone I knew, but my attempts never succeeded. I brought her in after setting up an appointment. I couldn’t find her vet paperwork, so I offered to run over there and get them. Their lunch was 30 minutes after my appointment. He said I can bring the cat with the paperwork, I understand. But he wanted me to tote this poor cat around for an hour to get ahold of the paper work until they got back. It’s your lunch, I understand and do not want to interfere with your break. But he was just genuinely so hateful. He finally told me he can call the vet… why wasn’t that the first option? So we got that taken care of. The lady there was also just so harsh. Dirty looks the second I walked in the door. My heart was hurting so bad for this baby, and they had zero sense of empathy and ability to read the room. The staff made me feel ten times worse for doing what was good for that baby. They are a good establishment, but an attitude change would be huge.

The folks at the Hopkins County humane society are excellent people. They helped us get our dog chipped for half of what anywhere else in town would charge. Please support them in any way that you can.

I am new to Kentucky and a Hopkins County and I have sent messages a couple of times and never get a response. My neighbor dropped off a semi feral kitten to the shelter and the man that took him said , this is a nice kitten. And said that they would not be killing him, however I never see his picture posted anymore, what am I to assume there is nothing saying that he was adopted. I have two of his siblings and they are very sweet and can be socialized ones coming along really well the other one is getting there. I also have a concern that, I know this is hearsay but I’d like to know the truth that there’s a Kentucky law that says it’s not illegal to dump animals? I find no such law but someone cited Humane Society as stating that along with the sheriffs department. We need to do better here in Hopkins County for the animals people are dumping cats and kittens at the convenience center in Hanson. I also understand there’s a lot of kittens at the old ideal market in Hansen. Laws need to be changed to protect the animals and they need to be enforced.

Was trying to set up a birthday surprise for my daughter and the whole staff was on board to help me! My application was reviewed and accepted quickly (were on a time crunch). I have a happy little girl with a happy little kitty

I’d give zero if I could! My son adopted a kitten through them and puurrrfect paws 2 weeks ago that had never been dewormed!!! How is that allowed?!! That is the first thing a kitten or puppy should be given before being neutered or spayed, let alone before adopted into a house that has other animals!! So now this poor kitten has hookworms & roundworms, his other cat now has to be treated as well for safety precautions! This place is ridiculous! When I called and spoke to some guy, after I told him what was going on, he asked me if there was anything else I needed??!! Excuse me?! He didn’t care or ask how the cat was doing or even apologize! He actually hung up on me after I gave him a piece of my mind! This place needs the authorities to look into it! There is no way an animal should be adopted out without being treated for worms, period!!

I had to bring in a momma cat and kittens and was pleasantly surprised at how genuinely nice the staff was. I felt horrible for not being able to take them myself , but didn't feel judged by the staff at all. It smelled like animals, but not a waste smell, just an animal smell. I got to see some off the staff interact with the animals and you could tell that they really did love what they do.

Went to adopt a cat, adopted two (as long as we get approved tomorrow). The employees were all very kind and helpful. Highly recommend them for your fur babies.

I gave them 2 checks 1 from my Mom and 1 from me. They were getting 100.00 dollars total. The girl at the counter was rude took my license and made me wait while she ask a bunch of questions. Then when I left not even a thank you for the donation. They need to learn how to be more respectful to the folks trying to support the shelter.

My service animal and her friend ran off and the same day someone said they took them to the humane society well I found this post months later after calling same day they got lost and all my friends called as well until I gave up over a month of calling and they adopted her out and I called everyday asked if they would go check and describe my fur daughters in detail and every time same answer we don't have report or any dogs fitting that description or any in the kennels here that fit that description and they won't get me my fur baby back that is registered with id they act like it's not my dog and I have to have proof and get phone records myself due to my phones being taking I can't get them phone records but they could get there's but it's all on me so that's my experience....

Had a great experience at Hopkins County Humane Society today. We donated a lot of things from food to several blankets and had lots a cheerful help carrying things in. Every one was very polite. Also met a very nice friendly dog coming in. Was great to be able to help out. Will do it again soon.

Great shelter doing great things! If you're unsure about the shelter, call and speak to an employee! They do so much to find homes for the dogs and work constantly with several rescues to get the dogs in their care out and to a safe place as quickly as possible! If you had beef with them in the past, it's time to give them another chance! Your local shelter is only as good as the support they receive! Adopt. Foster. Donate. Volunteer.

What ever a person can give in a form of monatary, time and needed supplies is the most wonderful feeling anyone can do for animals.Adopt a pet is another thing that can be done for pets who needs loving home.A great shout out to the workers and volunteers.

Been trying to get in contact with them for three weeks they have my sweet cat there and they already put them up for adoption I’ve sent emails calls voicemails nothing and they won’t get back to me and they say that they try to be a no kill shelter but what they do is if one doesn’t get adopted in three days they’ll euthanize him hopefully I can get word back from them soon I jus want my little boy back

I found my best friend there 10 years ago. I have volunteered there myself and have found the staff loving towards the animals. They truly do care.

Not really the best they pretty much lied to you all the time especially if you're trying to adopt an animal I got one a couple years back a dog and they said it was very nice easy going dog I got bit more times giving that dog a bath that I ever have by any other animal in my life

They put our dog in doggie jail that's fine he was out even though it was outside city limits but when we got him he was muddy and thirsty and they kept his collar which was a $15 collar the girl was respectful I'll say that much

The staff at the Humane Society were very caring and helpful when I brought in a feral mother cat and her kittens. I do wish the shelter would pick up cats.
